The room was much nicer than I thought it would be. There is no TV, which was actually nice. Wish I had taken a pic of the room for this review, but didn't. I did, however, take a pic of the elk that was steps away from our lodge entrance when we went out for breakfast. The only thing that wasn't great was that their is no air conditioning and they provided a small tower fan, no box fan to sit in the window to bring in cool air. Also there were really loud concerts the first 2 nights we were there, so we closed the window for half the night and it was uncomfortably warm in there. Probably a non-issue for those used to no air conditioner, but when you turn the thermostat down every night to achieve perfect sleeping conditions (lol), you will notice. The dining halls are down the hill from the lodge. That us great when you are going to eat. Terrible when you are walking back up suffering from altitude sickness. This may not be an issue for some. The lobby has a nice seating area with a giant fire place. Lots of kids gathered there. It was a great environment. It is really warm in the lobby most of the day because they close the doors and windows at night due to wildlife concerns. No one wants a bear in the lobby! Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. The photos online made me think it would have a smell. Some older facilities do. This lodge did not. It is newer than I expected. Lobby has water fountain with water bottle refill station. Ice machine in building. Microwave in lobby. Our room had a larger dorm-size fridge. There was a giant wood chest as soon as you walk into the room that holds extra blankets.

I love this place! It's part of the ymca and is HUGE! So many buildings and so much to do. There's tennis, miniature golf, archery, arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, zip lines, skating rink and more! I even got an awesome massage. We went in September and some of the attractions were closed, which bummed me out, but we still had a great time. The elk bugled all night, which we loved. We also saw several near our building. I wish I'd taken pics of our room, but I forgot. It was very clean and comfortable. Just a regular hotel room with two queen beds. We'd like to get a cabin at some point, but I think you need to be a member to get the good cabins lol. There's a restaurant on-site and a little store. The staff were amazing and very helpful. We'll definitely stay again because the kids loved it. I've attached the pics I do have, but they don't show the immensity of the place at all. They also don't show any of the attractions because I wasn't thinking of the review at the time. I was focused on family. I'll do better next time lol.

The ONLY thing from making this 5 stars for me is the lack of A/C in the rooms. Most of the year, that’s no big deal, but when you need it, you NEED it. This isn’t a “high class” joint, and you need to set your expectations accordingly. But for the price and the views and the family friendly activities, you really can’t beat it. I wasn’t expecting to like it all to be honest, but it wasn’t bad. Also, I’d knock ½ a star for the beds being kind of “blah”, but again, for the price, I’ll give them the 4 stars.
