We live in the Denver area so we could actually have gone to about any place we wanted. Iām dealing with a fatal disease and I needed to find someplace that I could just sit back and relax and let my mind drift toward heaven. I knew I needed a river so I started searching. I wanted to stay pretty close to home so when I found THE RIVER SPRUCE COTTAGES on The Big Thompson riverā¦. I just knew this was the place ā¦.so I made a reservation right then and there. I walked onto the property and saw our cabin just steps away from the roaring riverā¦. I knew I had found my place of peace. I absolutely loved everything about this place. It was hilarious watching me and husband trying to string a fishing pole, but he finally caught a nice rainbow trout⦠How fun. The staff was wonderful. Alicia is just a doll, and brought us brownies the night before we left. Iāve already booked three more nights in the middle of October so we will get to see the friends we made and the perfect time for the fall trees and tons of rutting Elk, even on the property. āSunshineā was our cottage for three restful nights and It had all we needed and more. The river was about 20 feet away, a hot tub on our porch and all the amenities inside that you wouldnāt believe. We only left the property to go to the store and eat out with some friends as we preferred to stay right on the property and enjoy the river every single day. Thatās where I needed to be filled with hope and peace in my spirit once again. I hope you also find your peace and comfort from all that life tries to throw at us. I just cannot recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur Rainbow cabin at River Spruce was the quintessential Rocky Mountain cabin experience. The cabins are conveniently located near the entrance to the National Park and minutes from downtown Estes. Our quaint cabin was furnished with all the necessities of homeā¦the kitchen had an abundance of cookware, utensils & amenities making it very convenient for cooking, brewing our morning coffee & preparing our picnic lunches. And the bath was clean with an abundance of towels, a hair dryer and convenient soap & shampoo dispensers. It was such a comfortable home away from home and so clean. The bed was as comfortable as ours at home, with crisp sheets & warm bedding. The front door was just a few yards from the Big Thompson River where we relaxed by the fire pit after a day of hiking in the National Park. We loved being able to hear the rushing river and take in the fresh air from inside the cabin. We appreciated the little touches like a bathroom basket of toiletries, bedside lamps, & soft fuzzy blanket throws for cozy relaxing after our evening hot tub soak. And as a bonus, Mike & Beth were such wonderful hostsā¦friendly, helpful, & just a fun couple. Also, a BIG shoutout to Emily who greeted us on our arrival. She provided us with valuable tips for navigating the various eating establishments in the area and was so accommodating & friendly. Her personal touches were appreciated as well as the cleanliness of each & every room. A big thank you to the whole team for treating us like family. Weāll see...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed in the Rainbow cabin at the end of July 2024. It did Not disappoint. This location is close to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. Rock Moutain Tavern(a great restaurant) is 2 minutes away. Grocery store and deli is a 4 minute drive. The cabin is 1950's knotty pine and really cozy for 2 people. The kitchen had all we need to make several meals. Bedroom is comfy with TV and games. Wifi was a bit spotty when watching TV, but we'd rather be outside by the river than watching TV. Bathroom has hot water which gets warm fast. The toilet is a round rather than an elongated toilet. This might be an issue for larger people. If I ran this place, I'd upgrade to a longer toilet. Everything else was near perfect. There is a hot tub, but we didn't use it. We liked this cabin as it is close to the river and has a great spot with two chairs, a bench and fireplace right out front. We spend a Lot of time beside the river being lazy. We fell in live with this place and are planning a return trip in the Spring. The place is now a "fully automated" resort. On the day of arrival, we received a code to enter our cabin. The email stated, "Check in any time after 3pm." I had stated that our arrival would be at noon. When we arrived, it wasn't yet cleaned, and we understood. No problem, we went into town and looked around. At 1:30, I received an email telling me the cabin was ready if we wanted to check in early. We had no issues during our stay, left the windows open at night, and thoroughly enjoyed this...
