Please, spend your money elsewhere. Management doesn't care about true hospitality here, just who spends the most money. Came up from out of town two hours away because I had exams at my school's testing center Monday as a distance learner. I had stayed here last year (2023) for my anniversary in December and had a great experience, especially with Crystal, she's a doll. But management...your own FRONT DESK agents were upset by the loud music yall were blaring for your stupid little party yall contracted out and we were having to YELL at them from the other side of the desk. One of them was even surprised by the treatment yall gave me. I don't follow sports, so I had no idea about the UT/OU game at the stadium this weekend. No one warned me either. Check in day was quite. But Friday? The opposite. Management was giving out free booze and wings which was nice, but the BLARING music and basically saying 'go to your room or the other end of the hotel or LEAVE?' and talking to me like I was a child? They also said 'other hotels in the area are having parties', weird because the much nicer hotel Marriott booked me at as a courtesy isn't having a party. They have one of the teams staying here, but they have RULES in place for them unlike yall do. I bared through it the first night, but the consistent game chants in the lobby, from one end of it to the front door at 10am was honestly my last straw. My fiance has AUTISM, which I told management too and they didn't care. He was extremely overstimulated. I was nothing but polite in my communications, even when asking for a refund for my unused nights, notice I said UNUSED nights, not the entire stay. As I booked through Expedia to use Affirm to finance this expensive room, I explained to Tanner? I think was his name? they would need management approval to process a refund. He doesn't care how loud it is, or if college kids are drunk and belligerent running up and down hallways at all hours of the night. I didn't realize this was a frat house? I thought it was a hotel. There was ZERO warning about this 'party' too they were contracted too. "We're expecting 600+ guests to check in this evening, so we're doing what we were PAID TO DO" was the excuse. Definitely don't stay here if you're on business, with small children, people with sensory issues, or here for academic reasons. Tanner and the older manager don't care, unless you're spending bigggg bucks. I hope you have the day you deserve, honestly. I don't care about your 'non-refundable' rate, which you DO have the power to override as a manager. As a bonvoy member, I'm appalled and I will not be back. Thanks to the lady at corporate for booking me elsewhere, it's nicer anyways. Also, to the older manager, I'm nearly 30 and not your kid, do not ever talk down to another adult like that. I am not an idiot. I have more compassion and emotional intelligence than you ever will.
Thank you to the front desk people, and the dining room people. Yall were nice. To management, I hope yall get replaced soon. The rooms were nice, but not worth being berated like that.
And since I can't post a direct reply to the owners, I wasn't offered multiple meeting spaces? Are yall on crack? Yall wanted me gone so bad you couldn't see straight. Miss me with your 'we were so disappointed you went elsewhere' when you also refused a refund. You were upset I called corporate cause yall were all partying and drunk college kids were being belligerent. I know I didn't pay to contract that party but yall LOVE $$$. Bite me....
Read moreWe were excited to stay at this hotel. It was close and convenient for the time and purpose that we were there. The lobby made the hotel look promising (see video). Unfortunately, the hotel is VERY outdated and in need of updates. The front desk staff were nice and pleasant. There is a coffee shop but unfortunately there was never anyone working although the sign said they would be back in 15mins. (We tried first thing in the mornings and lunch times). The hallways were SO hot and humid and the room wasn't very cool. Had a king suite and there was only one vent for the whole room. It was all the way over by the window (decent size room) and the thermostat was over there as well which seemed to defeat the purpose of temp regulation next to a window. The air also wasn't blowing very hard so that was a bummer in summer. The rooms are not lit very well with just lamps as the only option for light source in the room. It was still very dim even with every lamp turned on. You can hear everything in the hallway with the big gap under the room door. It was nice to have the mini fridge, but not helpful for storing food given that there was no microwave to heat anything. The bathrooms need much work also (see pics). There was hair in the tub upon entering the room for the first time. The beds and pillows were not comfortable and had the thinnest sheets on them. Parking is free but awkward. There's a big parking section that said for valet, but we never saw a valet the whole time we were there. Once the small & poorly designed parking lot out front (not many spaces, they were tight, and lined in weird directions) is full, the only option is to park in the parking garage and walk back out the garage and then across to the front door or take the walk-through to the side door and down the long hall. This hotel definitely doesn't even compare to other Renaissance hotels we've stayed at before and should no longer be labeled as "luxury." The pictures on their website look like a completely different hotel than what you see in person. This was our first and unfortunately very last stay at this location.
*To clarify: the picture of the bathtub faucet was not taken sideways. The faucet handle is in the correct position. The temperature "card" on it just spins when the handle is turned. *Note the location of the air...
Read moreI hate to give one star reviews but thought this one might be necessary for Marriott corporate to better the situation.
First, the staff that you can find are very nice! Check in staff are friendly, and the one single fella operating the giant dining room was also nice.
When we checked in at 4pm, I noticed our room wasn't as clean as a typical Marriott. When they advertise this hotel online they make it sound like it's a BRAND new Renaissance which we love staying at typically (we always stay with Renaissance for our work travel). Dusty air vents, rusty bath tub with chips in it, toothpaste on the mirror, and there was a huge crack in the marble in the shower. Yikes!
We settle in and are thankful the beds are clean. Come to find out, there's no television service. We call down to the front desk and the nice fella working the desk says their service is out for the whole building and they have no confirmation of when it will be on again.... so no tv for us! We figure we will go down to the dining room and snag a meal and some drinks and then try and go to bed early and use our laptops to watch something on there. The only dining room opens at 4, and they have a real limited menu. I go to order a drink, they're out of vodka 😂 have you ever been to a hotel that isn't stocked with Tito's? We're in Texas! Burger was fine but the whole place was deserted... so strange
When we went upstairs to shower the tubs are so old the finish has come off and it's really slippery, I am young thankfully and caught myself but a giant piece of the cracked marble fell off the wall and onto my Foot. Ouchie.
I feel bad writing this because the staff and cleaning crew are trying but you can tell Mariott totally jumped the gun by saying this place is new. There's no concierge lounge, no coffee set up, again - limited dining and entertainment options.
They were kind enough to let us out of our arrangement early and not have to stay the second night to go somewhere...
