A group and I dined on Friday since they advertised mariachis and margaritas. We were seated outside by the TV and a mist fan. We requested to be inside but since our party was 4 adults and 2 kids and a baby, we had to be sat outside. We also requested a baby carrier sling to place oir 3 month old but was informed they don't have one but they have a high chair to place the baby in? So instead we had to put the baby carrier in a chair. We also asked the person who sat us if the mariachis would come outside and she said they would come in and out periodically. Our server's name was DeVonte G. I asked him if he could turn off the mist that was blowing from the fan, since it was blowing directly on the chair i would be sitting in. He said he could ask, and then left. I remained standing, waiting. Then later he came back asking for our drink orders but he didn't indicate an answer about the mist from the fan. I asked him and with a snappy attitude DeVonte said, "he would come." Not sure who "he" is? And then DeVonte left. Later he came back with our drinks and still the mist was on and no mariachis have came out either. Then after DeVonte gave us our drinks, he yanked one of the power cords out of the wall and left quickly. He did not tell us it was the cord to turn off the mist, we just looked and saw the mist stopped blowing. Then I sat down and we waited for DeVonte to come back to take our food order. He came back, took our order, and we asked him when the mariachis would come outside. He said they had one more song, then will come outside. We waited and nothing. DeVonte then came out with our food and we requested some sautéed onions and then he left. Some time later, a different gentleman came out with the onions and we asked him about the mariachis coming outside and told him what DeVonte told us (which we later found out was a lie). The gentleman apologized and informed us the mariachis already come out and were going to just stay inside playing and that they were trying to leave early. But the gentleman informed them that they would not be paid unless they stayed the whole time and also this is not their normal mariachi band they previously use. Eventually the mariachis came out, played 2 songs and left back inside. Later, DeVonte came back out and started taking away our empty plates and we asked for our checks and left. I've dined in Black Agave three previous times and the service has always been wonderful as well as this food. Unfortunately, this time was very disappointing and let down...

Read moreThe restaurant has a great location with a nice patio overlooking a lake. The inside of the restaurant has a good vibe and appears clean. When we first arrived we weren't initially greeted, we waited about 5 minutes for someone to come to the hostess desk. No, biggie for us. We decided to sit on the patio. Our server was very welcoming and attentive. There was a moment where he asked if we were ready to order and we weren't, so he said he'd come back. It took my son going in to let them know we were ready (about 30 minutes of waiting). It seemed as though they were short staffed, so not a deal breaker. My son ordered the half pound brisket and elote corn, my husband ordered tortilla soup, and I ordered a cheese quesadilla and barracho beans. My husband soup did not look like soup. It looked like a mooshy chili and he said it was way to salty and had a strange flavor. He could only manage 3 bites. Let me tell you this is crazy coming from a man who has no problem eating two day old pizza he found in the car. The man eats like a goat anything and everything. My quesadilla wasn't anything special, but it was palatable and the beans were a bit salty for my liking, but not horrible like the soup. My Son's elote looked like it came straight from a can and had a squirt of mayo on it. The brisket was not 1/2 lb. maybe a 1/4 lb. It looked dry and old. My Son's first bite was it's not great, but I'll eat it because it was so expensive. Then he took his second bite and instantly I could see it in his face he was going to throw up. The meat was rancid! He quickly spit it out into a napkin and tried his best not to throw up. I had to remove myself from the table as I have a sensitive stomach and I could smell the rancidness of the meat. If I wouldn't have walked away I would have thrown up. My husband found the waiter and let him know what was wrong. The waiter was very kind and went to get the manager. The manager came out and tried to say he tasted the meat and it tasted fine. This is the first time to ever refuse to pay for a meal, but we truly couldn't eat it. Our waiter was very kind and the food was removed from our bill. This is why I gave service 3 stars. Our waiter did the best they could under the circumstances. It's so sad because the restaurant really does have such a...
