We booked the Grand Victorian B & B Inn for two nights during our honeymoon, as well as our friends who were traveling with us. We arrived on July 15th and 16th and both of us pre-paid the first night in advance. Upon our arrival we checked in and the owners immediately wanted payment for the 2nd night. We were tired from traveling and said give us a little bit to settle in then we will take care of the balance. Not even 5 minutes into our rooms he was standing in our doorway with the bill and pen in hand! I was having a heart palpitation and couldn’t even sit down for a few minutes without being hounded for the 2nd night! Our honeymoon stay there proceeds to go downhill from that point. Our friends wanted to have cocktails and they refused to allow us to sit in the living room! We had to sit at the dining room table as if we were children. Upon awakening for breakfast they said it’s at 9:00 am and no other option. So the four of us went down for breakfast, only to find that we sat there for 45 minutes before the cold -scrambled eggs were served! My friend mentioned it to the owner and she became immediately defensive and said that she cooked them at 9:00 am! Well….scrambled eggs go cold immediately unless kept in a steamed warmer. Now to address the accommodations: Our room had the world’s tiniest bathroom, which was so incredibly small we could barely move in the shower. Neither of us are overweight, so one can only imagine a heavy guest would not be able to shower! Our friend’s mattress was so worn out and uncomfortable, she made a bed on the floor and slept there! Unreal! The second morning we did not stay for breakfast, we found a restaurant to eat at. Finally, when we made the reservations, I clearly asked if this Inn was close to Traverse City and the owner’s response was yes, it’s only 25 minutes away! The truth is it was 1 hour away!!! So the $800 the two of us spent for two nights wasn’t even worth $200! We would never stay there again, nor would we recommend this...
Read moreMade a reservation at this Hotel for a night on the way to an Air Force Reunion. We drove 4 and a half hours to get there. We had email and text confirmation from the hotel. The text advised that if we arrived after 5pm, there would be a key in an envelope left on a table near the entry way. We arrived and there was no key left for us. There was however a key with another guests name on it. The room name stated in that envelope was not the room we had reserved. There were no employees on site at the time we arrived which was around 530pm. We called both numbers that were posted at the hotel but no one answered. We left multiple messages regarding our problem and no one has returned any of the calls even up until now(7/12). My wife was finally able to get a hold of reservation via phone. They were 100 miles away from the hotel and were also unable to reach any employees. Prior to our arrival this was the only hotel in town with any vacancies. Fortunately another hotel in town had a canceled reservation and we were able to secure a room thanks to Jay in reservations. This business has no respect for their customers. We could have been stranded there with no place to stay in town. We chose that town due to specific business that we wanted to visit. I wouldn't attempt to stay here again even if it was free and somebody...
Read moreWe were attending the annual Schuss Mt. hill climb, and the closest location to the sponsoring venue was 10 minutes by shuttle. I decided to look into B & B's as I enjoy their cozy home away from home without having to clean ambiance. This victorian home is amazing, and the owners' knowledge of its history, artwork, types of wood and craftsmanship kept me spellbound as Ken weaved the story over breakfast. Linda is an exceptional cook! You could not find the type of plated breakfast in any five star hotel you visited. From fresh fruit, to German puff pancakes, and all the morning drinks to accompany breakfast. There are so many neat attributes to this home and you can see the love and workmanship that has kept the home in the phenomenal condition it currently contains. The decor, hosting, service, furnishings, conversation, and superior accommodations make this Grand Victorian a destination stop for anyone in Michigan or passing through the area. You will want to return...
