What a fantastic experience we had coming here for the first time for a date night! The ambience is warm and inviting and the service matches suite. Each person we encountered was kind and attentive- especially our server Abby T. She not only provided lovely service, but treated us to a dessert out of what can only be assumed to be pure sweetness on her behalf (because at that point in our meal we were already so so happy)! The wine menu is very well curated and accessible. The food menu is balanced between French and Creol classics and upscale Midwest fair and is priced fairly.
The details: We started with the pear bruchetta and a bottle of Beaujolais, there were no notes, it was perfect for this season! Next we had the gumbo and crawfish etouffee- these a big swing dishes with no room to hide lack of skills- they were wonderful! My one hope would to be a switch to something like a Carolina gold rice, or something a bit more traditional to that style dish than jasmine rice in the future (and this is really splitting hairs here, the rice was well cooked, just wanted to explain why I gave 4 starts to the food, everything cannot be perfect!) Lastly we finished with their cookie skillet, like the good Midwestern kids we are. Once again, no notes, thanks Abby T!
Thank you to the team at Corner Bistro from two fellow "hospitality kids" for such a wonderful experience. Please keep up the hard work, it sure shows and we cannot...
Read moreThe Chicken Sandwich here was amazing, and the Ribeye bites were perfect as well.
I will say that the portion size on the Ribeye was probably only 4-5oz maybe, so I wish it was a bit more, but it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the potatoes it was paired with were fluffy and tasty as well.
The chicken in the sandwich was soo juicy and we both agreed it was just awesome overall. I will mention that we upgraded to the truffle fries, but I don't think I would do it again. They weren't bad, but I don't think they were good enough to justify paying more. The real attraction is the sandwich anyway.
The crab cakes were average I feel, but that's not a knock really as it's hard to do those well, and its not like were in Maine or something.
The server was attentive and pleasant, and although it did take a while to get our food (close to 30 mins), I think it was because they basically triple seated themselves. Three couples all came in at once and we all ordered within a few minutes of each other. That's gotta be tough for a small kitchen like this.
Overall this is a really nice place, and I would come here again. Especially since this is quite a small town and this is likely the only place that you could consider...
Read moreFirst experience: my wife and I decided to try the Corner Bistro based off Destination Bellaire reviews and comments from others that have experienced their food. The wait was about 20 minutes which was very acceptable for a Thursday summer early evening. Once we were seated, we received two water glasses and menus plus informed our server will be with us momentarily. Unfortunately this never occurred. We watched others who were waiting and seated after us greeted and provided water, menus, and even orders taken. We saw what seemed to be a regular customer she was welcome me and seated quickly with their awaiting guests. Drink orders taken quickly as we continued to wait with no further acknowledgement. After 25 minutes, we decided to leave and go to another place to eat where our experience was delightful. Therefore we cannot provide comments on the food, but the service was subpar at best!!! We reside in the area and our business will go elsewhere and not the Corner Bistro. The only part that was enjoyable was being able to say hello to two individuals that we know from Bellaire High School. They were another reason to visit as these young ladies are top notch...
