We stayed in the river view suite july 2020 our 2nd time over a 3 yr period last time we stayed we absolutely loved its quaint quiet river side views etc.Well we didn't know they changed and now renting to families with children but we found out in a hurry they had had some thunder storms roll thru earlier in the day and the river was over its banks and flowing rapidly, mother nature right, but they have some steep stairs down to the river which makes dangerous for adults let along childten, and they have a double swing I'm guessing for a couple but all the kids thought it was the play ground and were swinging now right over the river ,if there had been an a accident the kids would have been swept down river in a hurry ,so the Inn is not kid friendly at all,we were sitting on our patio enjoying the river going by and then the kids from several families showed up swinging throwing sticks in the hot tub, splashing and screaming, one little boy was peeing behind the tree not my idea of a good time @ $200 a night. We also noticed that there is a severe lack of maintenance at the Inn both inside and outside the walks and stairs haven't been swept or blown off in awhile, plants are over grown the hot tub was a mesh so much my lady would not get in etc..the carpet in our suite was overwhelmed with stains and dirt, they need to be ripped out,the mirrors were dirty ,cleaned only within reach of the maid, I think I she was short because you could seewhere she couldn't reach etc. There was a musty smell in the hallway down stairs and in the room, and the have water damage showing evidence of the problem which is aan easy fix,I went outside and around the corner only to find the ac unit on the upper floor was dripping water constantly down the roof over the fascia the wall etc etc ending up in our suite, you can see where they patched it already instead of correct ing the water drainage..too bad it's a beautiful place so between the kids and the lack of ongoing maintenance needed they wont be seeing my $200 a night again...Dont get me wrong the families paid good money too so they have every right to be there too,I just wish I had known and wouldn't have booked the room, and shout out to the owner I foresee and liability law suit coming if one of the children would get injured or worse, one of kids while I was there could have easily drowned if they fell in the river..just my thoughts is .too bad very beautiful ...
Read moreLove this place. We stayed there a couple of nights. Within walking distance of Shorts Brewery/Toonies Fish and Steak House and river access to the chain of lakes water trail. The room we were in had been remodeled in pine and was very comfortable. It overlooks the very fast running Intermediate River which is just downstream from the dam. Beautiful walkways with Tiki torches really make the evenings beautiful. Even tried our hand fishing here, with wading into the cool water (no luck). The exterior and decking on the river-side is a bit rough - probably could use some maintenance but we still thoroughly enjoyed it. We launched our jet ski just across the street and down the hill, at the public launch, and traveled the south chain of lakes all the way to the south end of Torch Lake. We could have done more but ran out of time. Lots of no wake zones, but still very pleasant. The next day, we put in above the dam on Intermediate Lake and traveled upstream till we decided that the river might be getting too shallow for us. Fishing up here was very good. Only criticism of this place and the town in general, is that nobody that we talked to seemed to know much of anything about the water trail. Maps are needed, with depth charts and clearer markings for river entrances. It’s a good thing the GPS on my phone was functioning, otherwise we might have had problems. The Indian River area water trail does this very well and should be emulated. Overall we had a great adventure here with a nice taste of Bellaire and the waterways that surround it. We hope...
Read moreThe good - the few times we interacted with staff, they were friendly. They also gave us a $10 gift card to Mammoth since we were there celebrating our anniversary. You can't beat the location of this place!
But... I see the other reviews praising this place and... maybe we just picked a bad room (Alden)? A friend stayed here years ago and said it was nice. Now, its in need of TLC. There were suspicious stains on the shower curtain, the carpet desperately needs to be replaced, and the air conditioner was gross. The AC unit was struggling to keep the room cool so we took off the cover and saw it is caked with dust. Photos attached. There wasn't anyone at the desk for check in - you pick up a phone and reach someone who lives upstairs. I know modern check in is "virtual", but I expected something more personal at an inn. Our room was OPEN... they literally said "its down the hall on the right, the door is open and the key is in the door". The room across from us was also open with the key in the door and the guests didnt arrive until the next day. There is a coke machine in the hall. It only takes coins and the front desk doesn't provide change. The "shared patio" is the walkway everyone uses to enter the inn.
Again, excellent location, but unfortunately it did not meet our expectations...
