TLDR This is a wonderful inn and we plan to come back someday when we can afford the time off and such.
We stayed here for 2 nights in June for our honeymoon. The honeymoon accommodations were a gift from a family member, and the staff at the office was totally willing to accommodate her calling and providing our information to put the room in our names. We arrived around 4pm, and checked in at the front desk, where we were able to make reservations for dinner at the restaurant in house, which after a long day of traveling was very nice. They use real keys for their 70 year old heirloom inn, and it really adds to the charm.
We pulled the car around to our room, the Ocean View Traditional (aka the least expensive lol) and brought our luggage up to our second floor room, opened the door, and were stunned by how GORGEOUS the view was! I thought that because it was a cheaper room it wouldn't have as good of a view, which we were fine with, but it was stunning.
The rooms are fairly spacious with a queen bed, two night stands, two armchairs and an ottoman, a large dresser, and a little breakfast nook type table all feeling well-spread and not cramped at all. The restroom smelled SO GOOD! Usually not something I'm used to. They had a Kureig coffee maker and a basket with coffee, tea, sweeteners, stir sticks, a corkscrew (which was so cool that I called the morning we checked out and the office said I could keep it for free😂).
The sink was nice and deep, and had a good amount of counter space. The give you separate soap with a dish for your hands, and then a bar of soap, two shampoos, and a conditioner from a sustainable bee-based cosmetics company! They also included a sachet of some citrus Epsom salts to soak in the bath, which is why the room smelled so good. There was a cabinet over the toilet which held wine glasses, mugs, and water glasses. There was also a mini fridge and an ice bucket tucked under the counter below the Kureig. There were plenty of towels and other stuff, and the bathroom had two plugs, a heater, a vent, and lights. So it was never chilly!
The bed had lots of very soft linens and pillows, and they included an extra fleece blanket and pillow in the coat closet, with a card saying that if we wanted more of anything just to call the office. There were also two white waffle-knit cotton robes, which my husband loved.
The shared deck had little blinders, so that you could scoot your rocking chairs and side table back for privacy if you wanted. We only saw maybe three other groups use their chairs and such the whole time, so we had a lovely time rocking and drinking wine and staring at the ocean. The chairs have a nice lacquer so you won't get splinters.
The next morning we had early plans, and so we were very glad to find out the office was open and attended as early as 6am for check out. We were able to check out and get on the road easily.
We adored the Little River Inn, and we plan to come back as soon as we are able to. It was the best service either of us has received stateside or abroad, and the natural beauty was paralleled only by how lovely the experience of staying at...
Read moreI don’t write reviews often, but I feel compelled to share what was hands down one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had while traveling, especially given the significance of the occasion. We booked the Little River Inn for a romantic weekend to celebrate our engagement. What we got was false promises, ignored commitments, and an appalling lack of professionalism and care from the management. The ocean view we were promised from our private patio turned out to require us to walk into someone else’s; that’s not just misleading, it’s absurd. The “stargazing” equipment we paid extra for included nothing more than a pair of dusty binoculars, a dead flashlight, and tattered kids’ star charts, like something you’d pull from a forgotten classroom closet. Thankfully, after pointing this out, they reluctantly removed the charge. We had arranged for flowers to be delivered during dinner, they never showed. When I asked to know what happened, they treated me like an aggressive person, probably because of my appearance. I'm a large and imposing man with face tattoos.
The physical condition of the room was alarming: loose screws in the door frame, and visible mold on the back door seal. I have photos and video of both. That’s not just disappointing, that’s a health hazard. But the most offensive part? When we kindly asked the manager, Terra, for some sort of gesture to acknowledge how much this affected what was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime moment, we were met with condescension and defensive posturing. The front desk associate, Phoebe, made it worse by attempting to twist our disappointment into something we brought with us. I’ve stayed in places across the country and around the world, rarely have I encountered such indifference. This was supposed to be the memory of a lifetime. Instead, it felt like we were chasing down staff to get them to simply follow through on what they promised, a sad distraction from what should’ve been a magical engagement weekend. If you're thinking of staying here for a special occasion, don’t. If you're someone who values thoughtful service, integrity, or basic room maintenance: look elsewhere. This place may look charming on the surface, but the experience is hollow, the follow-through is nonexistent, and management seems more interested in dodging accountability than creating lasting...
Read moreMy wife and I have been regulars to Little River Inn Restaurant while staying every year in the area. We have in the past looked forward to some of this restaurants specialties like the Osso Bucco, Fresh Beet Salad, etc... This time however, 08/26/18 for my wife's Birthday dinner we were actually quite shocked at the change in both quality of food and overall ambiance/vibe. We were greeted but a very pleasant gentleman who seated us in one of our favorite spots in the restaurant with a view of the ocean which we loved. We had a server whom we had last year when we visited (will not name names, sweet lady but a little older and kinda out of it) ... Server didn't have a clue about the wines on the wine list but otherwise was ok. Had the Calamari for appetiser ( guys, I would suggest putting the mustard sauce separately rather than drowning the Calamari in it) ... Calamari itself was good but sat soaked in the sauce ... Not good! Oh, and in the midst of our Calamari, our server comes out and hands us a dessert menu ...????? We hadn't even eaten our entree ... What the ... No clue, no clue!!!! Wife and I shared the Beet Salad and our Server split it for us on two plates that although the beets were tasty, it just looked like a pile of salad on a plate, not visually appealing at all. For Dinner, I had the Osso Bucco and wife had the New York Steak ... Mine was ok, just kind of a mish-mosh of the sauce, polenta, etc ... together ... No freshness to the taste at all. WifesW Steak was fair ... Again nothing really special about the taste or presentation, have had way better beef at lower end establishments. For dessert, we had the melon Sorbet which came out like a plate of ice ... Like a snow cone not Sorbet at all .. the melon flavor was good though. All in all we won't be back until this place has a revamp of the menu and overall dinning experience ... Sorry but this may be acceptable for older people who don't really care about quality ... We are just so surprised that it's all gone so down hill ... We've loved this...
