I do a lot of traveling and staying in hotels, and one of the ways I choose a hotel is by the reviews left. I was apprehensive about staying here after seeing some of the negative reviews left recently. Therefore, I booked a room here for one night. I arrived here after sunset so I really wasn't able to see the grounds. However, I was greeted by the desk people and they were very friendly and accommodating. They gave me very descriptive information on the grounds and pointed everything out on a map they gave me during my check-in. They also told me that if I had any questions to please ask. Upon getting to my room, I found it very clean, cozy and warm. After bringing in my luggage I went to the attached restaurant. My server was very welcoming and very helpful with the descriptions on the menu even though he had a couple of larger groups at tables already eating. I ordered the hamburger with cheese and fries, and it was brought to me way faster than I expected. It was absolutely delicious, and so was the cheesecake. I retired to my traditional King room and I didn't hear hardly anything from other guests around me. No pipes rattling and no people talking at all. I was so impressed with everything I had experienced here that at 3:00 in the morning I reserved another night in the same room. I went to the front desk at a little after 6:00 a.m. and told them that I had booked another room for the night and asked if I could keep the room I was in. It was absolutely no problem. This description is as honest as it comes. I find my experience polar opposite from the negative reviews that were left recently. I will always recommend the Capitol Reef Resort to anyone who asks about the area. Again, everyone who I interacted with during my stay was very happy and helpful and that is truly...

Like a literal oasis. Great views, parking was awesome, beds were great, shower was 7 of 10, amenities were awesome. They give you these little makeup wipes that we took with us while we were out in the desert to wipe off with during the day. Pillows are a little small for me, but I like a king sized pillow anyway.

The rooms are pretty big - we stayed in two different rooms, having intended to camp and then deciding not to and then coming back and checking in again. We stayed for a total of five nights. Breakfast is delicious - Pioneer Breakfast with bacon for the win, here. According to my kiddo, the French toast is a solid 9 of 10, and we both agree that the bacon is maybe some of the best ever. Service in the restaurant is perfect.

Some reviewers say that the food is pricey. Newsflash: everything in southern Utah is pricey. Everything. It's the middle of literally nowhere, and that's why you went there in the first place. It simply costs more to get product to is destination.

Check in is easy easy. The folks at the front desk are all super nice, smiley, and chatty.

WiFi is fair. If you take a bunch of pics during the day while you're out, which you should, and your phone backs them up on the WiFi network, you'll probably be throttled in the morning. The Resort should really disclose that somehow. If you're on business there or need to work at all while you're there on vacation (which a lot of us do these days), I highly suggest working at night. There is less demand on the WiFi and your life will be easier. I almost pulled my hair out trying to send an 11MB file from my room one morning. All that being said, is still a fantastic place, and we'll...

This place is a gem! The original building seems to be an older motel that they have fixed up and expanded. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and updated enough with everything you need...coffee, bathroom products, fridge, etc. We were in room 220 which had a decent-sized balcony with an exceptional view of the stunning mountains behind the resort - we saw several deer and some cows during our two night stay. The pool is quite nice with a jacuzzi for 6 or so people, along with complimentary towels you help yourself to that are stored in a cupboard. In the evening we sat around one of several fire pits in the area with the teepees. There is also a fire pit in the conestoga wagon area. Plenty of seating for everyone who wants to enjoy them! The fire pits go off at 10 PM which allows for amazing star gazing if you stay put - this area of Utah is a designated dark sky region for good reason - amazing night skies! The resort restaurant was very good and well priced - we ate breakfast there both mornings. You also can take a llama for a walk, go on a horseback ride, or take a Jeep tour - easily arranged at the front desk. They have a great little store with basics if you forget anything, along with souvenirs. There are two places to eat directly across the road - one is a pizza/pasta place and the other a little more "fine dining". You can also be in the cute town of Torrey in just a few minutes - we got sandwiches and drinks for our day our at the general store and had dinner at one of the BBQ places in town. All-in-all we were very pleased with this resort, found it to be good value, and would recommend it for those wanting to visit this STUNNING area of...

Almost everything you need to know: Because Capitol Reef area isn't big there aren't many choices an I'd say this hotel really is one of the better choices for the better one. the property is clean and well maintained. a walk around the hotel property is very delightful because there's these awesome little tent room and carriage you can stay in. bit pricey but they look awesome. they have their own fireplace areas which makes sitting out at night a treat. you can get some smores to make at their shop. the room we stayed in was more standard. see the pics. Because Capitol Reef is one of the designated star gazing areas, hotel staff should be able to give us info about it, but when we asked they knew nothing about it.... sorta bummer. we looked online and found that there's a ranger giving star gazing events at night where he talked about the stars and how to look for Polaris the north star.... omg that was one of the highlights of our stay here in Capitol Reef. hotel should definitely be part of this info sharing. also on a special note, the ranger also brought in Bill who had a high powered telescope and was able to show everyone what Saturn looked like on a telescope ! omg. how cool is that. This hotel has its ups and downs. the location is def amazing. views from here are stunning. pool and hot tub are the big stars of the hotel. gym facilities also amazing if you like to work out and keep in shape during travel. as if hiking doesn't tire you out enough. I would recommend anyone looking to stay in capital reef to stay here. I stayed in room 111. quiet, nice, clean ! everything checked my list.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. I was so disappointed. The website states that each of the cabins has a view of the red rocks (one of the reasons I paid extra), however, only three actually do. No one else was there, so once I saw the lack of view, I asked if we could be moved since we were going to be there for 5 nights, and it was for our 25th wedding anniversary so I really wanted it to be special. I was told the website CLEARLY states NO changes and because I pre-booked, I was stuck with what I got. I was also told that we DID have a view if we just looked to our right from the porch - this was true, but only because the teepees were not up yet - if they had been there would have been a very limited view of the rocks. The check-in attendant seemed to be very pleased that she couldn't help due to her smug tone, which was very off-putting. The room was ok, but I had to buy a pillow as they were very uncomfortable, and we had to put a towel under the door because the crack was so large that the wind howled very loudly as it rushed under it all night. The restaurant was very dated, and the food was not very good at all. The pool/spa area was not as pictured. I would not recommend this resort as a "luxury" place to stay, it has more of a motel vibe. Perhaps if you want to experience sleeping in a teepee or chuckwagon for a night or two it could be fun, otherwise - I'd skip it.
