I do a lot of traveling and staying in hotels, and one of the ways I choose a hotel is by the reviews left. I was apprehensive about staying here after seeing some of the negative reviews left recently. Therefore, I booked a room here for one night. I arrived here after sunset so I really wasn't able to see the grounds. However, I was greeted by the desk people and they were very friendly and accommodating. They gave me very descriptive information on the grounds and pointed everything out on a map they gave me during my check-in. They also told me that if I had any questions to please ask. Upon getting to my room, I found it very clean, cozy and warm. After bringing in my luggage I went to the attached restaurant. My server was very welcoming and very helpful with the descriptions on the menu even though he had a couple of larger groups at tables already eating. I ordered the hamburger with cheese and fries, and it was brought to me way faster than I expected. It was absolutely delicious, and so was the cheesecake. I retired to my traditional King room and I didn't hear hardly anything from other guests around me. No pipes rattling and no people talking at all. I was so impressed with everything I had experienced here that at 3:00 in the morning I reserved another night in the same room. I went to the front desk at a little after 6:00 a.m. and told them that I had booked another room for the night and asked if I could keep the room I was in. It was absolutely no problem. This description is as honest as it comes. I find my experience polar opposite from the negative reviews that were left recently. I will always recommend the Capitol Reef Resort to anyone who asks about the area. Again, everyone who I interacted with during my stay was very happy and helpful and that is truly...
Read moreLike a literal oasis. Great views, parking was awesome, beds were great, shower was 7 of 10, amenities were awesome. They give you these little makeup wipes that we took with us while we were out in the desert to wipe off with during the day. Pillows are a little small for me, but I like a king sized pillow anyway.
The rooms are pretty big - we stayed in two different rooms, having intended to camp and then deciding not to and then coming back and checking in again. We stayed for a total of five nights. Breakfast is delicious - Pioneer Breakfast with bacon for the win, here. According to my kiddo, the French toast is a solid 9 of 10, and we both agree that the bacon is maybe some of the best ever. Service in the restaurant is perfect.
Some reviewers say that the food is pricey. Newsflash: everything in southern Utah is pricey. Everything. It's the middle of literally nowhere, and that's why you went there in the first place. It simply costs more to get product to is destination.
Check in is easy easy. The folks at the front desk are all super nice, smiley, and chatty.
WiFi is fair. If you take a bunch of pics during the day while you're out, which you should, and your phone backs them up on the WiFi network, you'll probably be throttled in the morning. The Resort should really disclose that somehow. If you're on business there or need to work at all while you're there on vacation (which a lot of us do these days), I highly suggest working at night. There is less demand on the WiFi and your life will be easier. I almost pulled my hair out trying to send an 11MB file from my room one morning. All that being said, is still a fantastic place, and we'll...
Read moreThis place is a gem! The original building seems to be an older motel that they have fixed up and expanded. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and updated enough with everything you need...coffee, bathroom products, fridge, etc. We were in room 220 which had a decent-sized balcony with an exceptional view of the stunning mountains behind the resort - we saw several deer and some cows during our two night stay. The pool is quite nice with a jacuzzi for 6 or so people, along with complimentary towels you help yourself to that are stored in a cupboard. In the evening we sat around one of several fire pits in the area with the teepees. There is also a fire pit in the conestoga wagon area. Plenty of seating for everyone who wants to enjoy them! The fire pits go off at 10 PM which allows for amazing star gazing if you stay put - this area of Utah is a designated dark sky region for good reason - amazing night skies! The resort restaurant was very good and well priced - we ate breakfast there both mornings. You also can take a llama for a walk, go on a horseback ride, or take a Jeep tour - easily arranged at the front desk. They have a great little store with basics if you forget anything, along with souvenirs. There are two places to eat directly across the road - one is a pizza/pasta place and the other a little more "fine dining". You can also be in the cute town of Torrey in just a few minutes - we got sandwiches and drinks for our day our at the general store and had dinner at one of the BBQ places in town. All-in-all we were very pleased with this resort, found it to be good value, and would recommend it for those wanting to visit this STUNNING area of...
