Good view and great service. Unfortunately that’s where the positive things end as far as Rim Rock is concerned. I asked for a rare ribeye and received a well done sauce monstrosity. Ribeye is a beautiful cut of meat on its own and if cooked properly only needs a dash of salt and pepper. This was very disappointing but not nearly as bad as my wife’s chicken… First of all, who charges $18.00 for a small chicken leg? Absolutely ridiculous. The chicken itself was so overcooked I had never seen anything like it! There was a quarter inch layer of inedible “meat crust” around the leg and the actual meat on the inside was similar to sand paper. And don’t try to tell me “they were probably busy” because we were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered. You seriously have to try to cook something so disgusting. Fortunately for us, our amazing waiter Fabio took it back to the kitchen and had them grill us an all new piece but unfortunately by the time it got to us it we were already done eating. My last gripe was how insanely hot it was in the restaurant itself. By the time our waiter came to take our order I was sitting in a pool of my own sweat. All of the staff seemed to know about the problem and told me the owners refused to fix it. Word of advice to the owners, if you’re going to open a restaurant in the FR*CKEN DESERT air conditioning probably shouldn’t be on the bottom of your priorities. This place was the only eatery in all of Torrie that I truly had an unpleasant experience. I really hope the dining staff is paid well because Rim Rock is miserable and I couldn’t imagine going back let alone working there!

Visited on a Tuesday evening after touring Capitol Reef N.P. We arrived about 5:30 and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and friendly. Parking was plentiful even once the restaurant was full. We skipped getting any appetizers and ordered wine and entrees. Gnarly Head old vine Zinfandel was very good for $30/bottle. Mu husband ordered the filet mignon with a side salad and mashed potatoes ($37). I got the ribeye steak with salad and baked potato ($38). The salads were on the small side: a little handful of mixed greens, one tomato wedge and a couple of slices of carrot and cucumber. A couple of warm dinner rolls were brought to the table with the salad which were good. The steaks arrived cooked perfectly and each one had a different sauce accompanying it. The steaks were flavorful. The filet was about 2 inches thick accompanied by a big scoop of mashed potatoes. The ribeye wasn’t the largest I’ve ever seen and was probably about 3/4 of an inch thick with lots of fat around the edges (only ate 1/2) and had a medium sized baked potato. We had the crème brûlée for dessert but we were disappointed. It seemed like it had been frozen since the custard was a bit grainy and mealy. The view of the area was gorgeous and in every direction. We were happy that we didn’t get seated near the swinging saloon style doors that the staff used since they were constantly banging loudly. The meal came to $108 not including tip. A pretty typical cost for a steak dinner for two.

A very enjoyable meal. I arrived early Friday, alone, was warmly greated and seated at a corner table with amazing views from two windows. My waitress was from Torrey and was very pleasant and helpful. Her timing was perfect bringing everything I needed when it was needed and checking on me to be sure there was nothing more she could bring me, but she never coming annoyingly too often. I had a salad, a roll, roasted chicken with honey sauce and a roasted acorn squash half. It was all very good. I am staying obe noght at the adjacent motel, but I woukd like to be stating longer so I coukd eat here every day! Some have complained about the high prices, but I feel that given the proximity to many amazing natural attractions and the nice restaurant environment the prices are reasonable. This qualify of service and food just typically costs more. (I had a burger for lunch in town that cost almost as much as this nice meal in a nice place.) My only regret is that my road trip will take me away and I will not be able to eat here again.

WORST DINNER EVER!

This is not fine dining as they claim - not even close.

Would give ZERO stars if it were an option.

We are a vegan / vegetarian family. First question we posed upon entry was, do you have vegan options? Oh "YES, we have a vegan spaghetti and mole enchilada!" Host was very enthusiastic. He asked if we had reservations and told him no, but were seated quickly. We were seated at the window overlooking the rim with a view of the hummingbird feeder. This was the ONLY redeeming quality to this horrible, expensive, can’t call it dining, experience.

The server was polite and professional, but I don't think understood the vegan aspect very well.

One of us ordered the vegan mole enchilada, the other ordered the pesto fettuccine, both came with the option of a side salad and choice of dressing. We chose the blackberry vinaigrette, which we were told was vegan, but not entirely sure it was. With a berry dressing, I expect it to have a robust berry flavor and on the sweeter side, but it was neither of those, and was lackluster.

When the entrees arrived, the enchilada was SMOTHERED with way too much mole and served with a side of rice. The rice had been mixed with the mole and was SOGGY, a little watery, had no salt and was bland. The enchilada was SOGGY! It contained canned corn. Corn wasn't listed as one of the ingredients on the menu. The amount of corn and mole overpowered the minimal little tiny bits of mushroom and pepper that were to have made up the filling. The mole was unsalted, bland, and had absolutely no flavor or kick. The meal was lackluster and, quite frankly gross. The only good, consistent thing was the Dos Equis beer.

The pesto fettuccine was overcooked, mushy and SOGGY! The asparagus was tough, the mushrooms were minimal tiny bits, and the tomatoes were bland and tasteless. The pesto was bland, lacked salt and had nothing good about it.

Overall, these two dinners were the worst ever. Food was lacking important ingredients, was bland, soggy, disappointing, and expensive. It is the worst meal we’ve ever had, and will be talked about for the rest our lives. Next time we’re in Torrey and looking for a place to dine, we’ll drive right on past Rim...

Overall: Okay. TL;DR at the end if reader does not want to read length review.

We arrived after check in began. The lady running the desk was not very friendly and very short with answers. She said breakfast was at some pioneer place. I asked where exactly it was (thought it was the restaurant attached at the end, but it was not) and she just said across the highway, not very helpful. Was told which room we were in and told there was no parking so had to park near the office and walk. No big deal really. Went to room and door was open. Knocked and asked if anyone was there, no answer. Peaked inside and bed not made. I went back to the office and told her I did not think our room was ready. She asked if I made sure it was the right room. Nice response to a customer...

She went down to the room and said yes it was not ready. I asked if we could get another room that was ready since we had a long day. She said no, because they were booked and she couldn't do it without cancelling someone's room. Okay... So we waited, again not a huge issue. The staff member was still short, but did say sorry. We waited about 30 minutes and then our room was ready.

Standard room. Very plain. TV basic channels. Did have wifi, but had to ask which network and password. Wifi ended up no password, but check in lady could have informed us of that.

Dinner was at a pizza place across the way, think Rim Rock Patio. Pretty good pizza. Comfy vibe, small place. $14 pitchers of craft beer!!!! Amazing.

TL;DR: Very standard cheezy rooms (think 90s hotel). However, everything worked which was nice. Staff worker, lady, in the PM was not friendly and did not tell us helpful info really (very vague). Had to wait 30 minutes for room (even after check in time started). Guy in AM was super nice though, plus had...
