Dirty, no trash cans. Giving 2 stars because our site was quiet. The picnic tables are not accessible to the site. We had electricity and no water. When we came in I didn’t have Wi-Fi so we couldn’t make a reservation. There was no one at the gate at 6 pm . So we found at spot and camped. The next morning I walked down and knocked on the window and no one was there. I planned on getting cash at the gas station and coming back to pay by envelope. At 11 am the park attendant came to our site yelling at me about not paying and not having a reservation. I told him the spot was open and I had every intention of paying. He insisted he was at gate at 6 pm. Well if he had been he would have seen us come in before he realized at noon the next day. Disgusting behavior. I’ve never had an experience like that. Don’t recommend this area even though it’s close to home for us. Bathrooms(the ones that are open) and whole camping area extremely dirty. I recommend Abiquiu instead such a...

The officer, Apodaca, gave us a ticket for just having to show my kids and their cousins how to throw the fishing rod and how to do it. Because I didn't have a fishing license, we did not know we were supposed to have a license It was not my intention to go fishing, especially in an area with all rocks n a little bit of water I was just showing our kids ages 11 years, and under. Another thing those fishing rods were meant to be for kids, not for adults. I would appreciate it if there was a sign stating that. Or if he had given me a verbal warning or ticket warning. But me getting a $150 fine and I did not fish. That was unfair, or no justice was served. He was unfair to me. I was really hurt and upset all weekend long; because of that. I never go fishing we just for the family picnic, and enjoy...

Cochiti Lake is a sprawling CG with a variety of W/E, electric only, and dry camping sites along with an easy to access dump station. This CG offers scenic views and plenty of space for walking around, while still being within driving distance of SF (35 minutes) and ABQ (50 minutes). We stayed in a W/50amp site and while it was definitely large enough, it was extremely un-level, and that was true for many spots throughout the CG. Similarly, utility placement varies from site to site, and while ours were easy to reach (and worked fine), some sites had water and/or electric access further away than what we see usually and would require extra long power/water cables/hoses. Verizon worked fine without a booster. This is a nice corp CG, and we’ve already booked a...

We headed out to go sailing but lightning came upon the lake. So we headed over to the grocery store to grab a snack but was wonderful surprised they had a lovely sandwich shop inside. We ordered a club and a turkey sandwiches. They were yummy. The bread was soft and they were made to order. We did not wait long and if we wanted to there was a nice place to sit inside. We took our sandwiches back to the lake, which only has a $5 entry fee, to stretch our eyes and butts. Lovely lake, they have a swimming area for the kids, some covered shelter, nice beach area for kayaks and paddle boards and of course a dock for your sail boats. I love the Cochiti Area for its quick, beautiful drive, 1 hour from Albuquerque for a lovely day spent.

We come here at least once every year, but tend to avoid the hottest months (July and August) as it’s just too hot and there’s not much shade. The spaces are large and generally easy to access. I don’t think they have as much help as they used to have. The sites have a nice concrete pad and picnic alone with a large gravel area that would accommodate tents, pets, etc. but the gravel areas have become overrun with weeds in the last couple of years. Do yourself and future campers a favor and bring a couple of garden tools (especially a hoe) so you can remove the weeds and prevent those nasty goat-heads. Our site was full of weeds, but we cleaned it up to better enjoy our stay. First time on site 60, and we like it.
