The mosquitoes here were unlike any other I have experienced. The first night we set up camp and we were swarmed by mosquitoes. After getting everything set up we very quickly brought our things into the tent and there were over a dozen mosquitoes in our tent. They were just as bad at the showers and would swarm around the windows trying to get in the car.
I was very thankful for the showers there, but the odor in my shower was disgusting. It smelled musty and moldy. Tho I was told the boys bathroom wasn’t as bad.

Read moreWhile my wife and I were camping in Buffalo Grove I walked over to Ringtail Loop with my trusty sidekick Oliver Twist the Rio Rancho Sheepadoodle Extraordinaire. Ring tail Loop is a new, well kept and maintained campground on Cochiti Lake. The sites are a ten on a scale of one to ten. All that being said, there is one drawback and that is there are no hookups in Ringtail Loop. No electric, water or sewer at any of the sites in this Loop. Read moreNice campsites. Awning over picnic tables was a nice touch. We did not like that the tent site is RIGHT next to the grill. Fire hazard! We ended up pitching tent on the driveway. Nice to have showers and bathroom so close, also several water spigots throughout the loop was a bonus. No electrical hookup in this loop so be prepared. Also bring lots of bug spray. The swim beach is a short drive. A bit too far to walk...
