I want to preface this by first saying that the majority of the staff WAS helpful. A few of the employees helped the members of my party get situated, one even offered complimentary breakfast for a room hiccup.
That said, the moment I arrived to the hotel this past weekend, I had a rough experience with a woman at the front desk on Sunday morning, no later than 11 AM. There was confusion over a room my mom had booked for myself and my boyfriend–apparently the woman didn't see it listed under my name. I clarified by mentioning my mother's name, but the woman insisted that I would have to reserve the room on my card. My mom told me otherwise beforehand. I then simply offered to call my mom to understand what was going on when the woman loudly and condescendingly insisted that I'd still need to use my card for incidentals. All that for asking a question?
Once my mom spoke to her, and then who I believe was the manager, the situation was handled. But when I asked the same front desk woman from before a question about breakfast, she answered with a "WHAT?!" instead of just saying, "Can you repeat that?" or something less abrupt.
Look, the overall experience at the hotel wasn't bad, but if someone's working in hospitality, please be hospitable–not hard! Or just rethink your job. I'm unsure if the woman was having a bad day or working earlier than usual, but I definitely urge the higher ups to perhaps revise their training and remind employees to be mindful of their tone. Call off if it's impossible for you to do. And I'm not just saying that for my sake; the woman could've been speaking to another person who didn't have as much patience as me. Her defensiveness was so bad that my boyfriend later asked me why she seemed so upset.
Otherwise, nice stay and semi-convenient area. The nearby Wal-Mart isn't too far of a walk. I'm just grateful that the one impolite employee didn't spoil the...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Courtyard Scottsdale Salt River from 4/2/2021 - 4/5/2021, and had such a wonderful experience we will definitely choose this hotel for all our stays in Scottsdale from now on!
When we first arrived, we were greeted by Stephanie at the reception area. She helped us check our bags since we arrived very early, and then helped us later when we returned to check in. She immediately made us feel right at home with her friendly personality and great sense of humor.
That morning we also met Derek in the cafe area where we decided to have breakfast. He is a wealth of information and FANTASTIC recommendations for sites to see and places nearby if you like hiking and nature! Not to mention incredibly friendly and welcoming (as everyone at the hotel was), great to chat with, and very helpful with menu recommendations in the cafe.
Speaking of food, rarely do I eat breakfast at a hotel everyday if it isn't already included, but the cafe here is absolutely worth checking out. We got to meet the chef, Gumer, and his breakfasts knocked our socks off! This is high praise - we're "foodies" and I also travel extensively for work, so I'm pretty reserved with my praise of restaurants unless they are truly deserving of it, and these guys definitely deserve it.
Aside from all this, the rooms were very clean and standard size for Courtyard hotels (relatively spacious), and the amenities such as the outdoor pool were open (we did not have time to use the pool since we went hiking each day, but it looked very clean and well-kept).
Overall, we highly recommend this hotel, and want to thank the wonderful team that works here - y'all made our stay a fun and relaxing one, and we will...
Read moreThis was a great hotel for the price we paid! Super clean and great upkeep both inside and out. No weird smells anywhere in the hotel - room, lobby, elevators, etc. (I am super sensitive to that and it felt great to not get a headache from weird smells or cleaning products that mask them). Check-in and check-out was super quick. Nice sized pool area with jacuzzi and bathrooms. Beautiful picnic area and even a fire pit - grounds were very pretty. Room was spacious - liked that it had microwave and mini-fridge. Bed wasn't super comfortable but not bad - I am used to a pretty firm mattress - lots of pillows though. Bathroom also super clean and spacious. Lobby was very nice, also with super clean bathrooms. Elevators also spacious and clean. Loved the bistro! Excellent food and lots of choices. We had breakfast and dinner there and they were open late for us to get a bite to eat pretty late one night so we didn't have to go out. Close to shopping - all kinds, from boutiques to Wal-Mart. Plenty of grocery stores and restaurants around as well - not necessarily within walking distance, but within a couple miles of the hotel. All in all, it was excellent in every way and I would definitely stay...
