Only gets 2 stars because I rounded up the 1.5 stars I actually give this place. It is dirty and run down. We arrived at 10pm after making a reservation earlier in the day, and finding out that they don't participate in any of the Wyndham bonus point promotions or even AAA or AARP discounts. It took several minutes for the manager/owner to notice me in the lobby. I think I woke him, but no big deal.
The problem was with how dirty our room was. Not only was the room backed up to the interstate, and a window left open, it also was not vacuumed at all because there was chips, food crumbs, finger nails, hair, & even a bobby pin on the floor. Since the window was left open and there was food on the floor, there were flies in our room. The towels all had stains on them. The fridge was not plugged in, so it had pools of water inside and smelled awful when we opened it. The microwave was filthy with food covering the inside. Luckily we didn't need it. By the time we realized how dirty the room was it was already 11pm and we just wanted to crash. The beds seemed clean enough to crash on so we closed the fridge and the window, sprayed some cologne in the air, wore our shoes around the room to avoid the dirty floor, and planned on trying for less stained towels in the morning.
In the morning when I told the same manager/owner from the night before about our room condition he told me that it was my fault that I didn't come ask for a clean room. Instead of an apology for the lack of cleanliness, he blamed us for not wanting to move all of our stuff at almost midnight. Into another room that may or may not be any cleaner. He also blamed his "new, younger cleaning crew" that he said "keeps changing". What does that tell you?
The hotel was basically empty, maybe 5 cars in the parking lot, so I can't understand how hard it is to have a clean room by 10pm. I couldn't imagine what the rooms look like on a busier night because I was embarrassed to bring my girlfriend here.
In addition to the above issues, there was garbage all over. We saw 2 opened bags of trash in the parking lot when we arrived & they were still there the next day. There was also trash in the hallway. Breakfast was minimal, dry cereal, packaged muffins, mini waffle maker (best breakfast item in our opinion), bruised bananas, cofee with no label as to decaf/regular, & lukewarm powder eggs. Meh.
This was a $50 hotel room that we paid $100 for. Such a rip off! There are no other motels in this town so they have no competition, and it shows by the lack of quality in every aspect of this property. Do yourself a favor and take a 20 minute drive to Pueblo for a cleaner and cheaper hotel room. We wish...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently booked and stayed at Days Inn in Colorado City. They advertised that it was a pet friendly hotel, no fine print. However they charged us a pet deposit. We drove over 1000 miles to the hotel for a wedding. Upon arriving they knew we were there for a wedding, but asked us not to leave the pet in our room all day, because they bark, and then they have to "go get the pet". So we took our dog to the wedding and kept him with us all day. Later that night we had to leave for a couple hours for a dinner, and we couldn't take the dog. So we left him in the room. When we return, the hotel had locked us out of our room, demanded that we pay for the next door guests room, (who had only checked in an hour before). On top of that, they demanded an extra $200, and if we didn't pay, we would be thrown out into the pouring rain with our two children and our dog. All other hotels were completely booked due to weddings, so we had no options. The manager yelled at us for almost two hours, argued with the sheriff's department who said he was wrong, and ignored the guests who wanted to check out. It was absolutely the worst I've ever been treated in the hospitality industry, which I personally worked in for almost 20 years. Not to mention the entire situation was riddled with greed and extortion. We did everything humanly possible to deal with the situation in a respectful manner, but were treated as subhuman. Furthermore, we booked a non-smoking room that reeked of cigarettes, had to ask for air freshener and spray the room ourselves, and had some type of white, crusty stains at the top of one of our comforters... disgusting!
The hotel advertised 'pet friendly' and we paid the extra fee to have the dog. No fine print stating we couldn't leave the dog in the room.
We were never informed that we would have to pay for other guest's rooms, or a $200 violation fee if our dog disturbed anyone.
After filing a police report, calling corporate five times, and filing with the Better Business Bureau, the company still refuses to reimburse the charges. We stayed at other pet friendly hotels on our 3500 mile road trip, not one of them had this type of absurd policy, or greedy service. Shame on you Days Inn. As a marketing professional, I will make sure to spread the word about the true nature of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNever stay stay at any Wyndham properties. I complained and they don't care about people's health or safety. The property manager Ruth Griffith flat out lied. This is a very serious health issue and concern. Cat urine smell can be from mold, chemical reactions, or meth lab was there. It can be also be from large number of rodents peeing and pooping. The first night I complained to the front desk lady. She came to the room and sprayed "commercial" grade anti smell product. She said their bushes outside smell that way as well. I asked for another room and she said there was none. There are no other hotels close by. So no place to go to. I got physically sick the next morning as well as my dog! I went to the Sand Dunes and returned after a few hours because I was ill. I had to get the manager to let me into the room because my key didnt work. I told her I was checking out because of the smell. She said she smelled "something". There is no excuse. I complained to Wyndham and they don't care. No reply after I formally complained. I wrote a review and got BS back from Days Inn. I was not asking for both nights refund. I only wanted a refund for the night I did not stay. I think this is more than fair. Now they are lying and blowing this off I will pursue further. Colorado Board of Health will be contacted. This is not safe. If you throw up, my dog threw up and had a severe headache is a serious health and safety concern. How dare Days Inn and Wyndham. The fact they basically blew me off, refuse to seriously look into the issue of serious health cocerns with mold or chemical reactions everyone should never stay at any of their properties. They have no ethics or concerns for their...
