Me NotyouMe Notyou
I have stayed at Mountain View RV Park two times before. I loved it and planned on staying again. I didn't like some of their policies, but overlooked them due to the extremely nice and helpful staff and really enjoyed my stays. I am a retired and 100% disabled veteran. With the previous owner, I was given a military discount. I was looking to stay again and went to their website to book. I did like the new option to select your site, but I didn't see anywhere about military discount. I decided to call and ask. The person that answered the phone was a monotone robot. It was hard to understand him and he was a single word person. No explanation, just a blunt Yes, No and silence. "Not Friendly at all like they used to be." Felt like I was wasting his time and he wanted me to know it. When I asked about military discount, he said "Just Active Duty". I asked, So not retired or disabled? He repeated "Just Active Duty", like I was too dumb to understand the first time. I was trying to just clarify and maybe find out why. I guess 22 years of active service and sacrificing family and body to the service of our country means nothing to them? I also actually had to get him to repeat his responses because I couldn't understand him. OK, I said thanks and went back to the web to book the "chosen" site. Only to see at booking, they want another $35 to "Lock" in that "chosen" site. Whaaaaat? Well, that's when I said enough. The park is pricey enough, and I saw where the owner said they are in the middle of the other parks prices. I honestly now call BS on that. I looked at three other parks and they are all cheaper! I don't always go for cheaper, but I definitely will here. Other things I didn't like but overlooked: No washing bugs off RV. No washing motorcycle. Terrible cancellation policy. Which just for example, I talked to KOA down the street, they are cheaper, cancel up to 48 hours prior and only cost $10, they also offer military/retired discount and no problem to wash off bugs or bike. PS; They were willing and happy to talk and answer questions. Sorry Mountain View, you lost an annual visitor. ****UPDATED AFTER PARKS RESPONSE: Dropped to 1 star after inadequate response placing blame instead of accepting responsibility. As is quite obvious with the parks response to my review, I struck a nerve. Truth hurts doesn't it! They obviously didn't read my complete review, so they attacked me with so-called industry standards that I am too stupid to understand. They also said, "Since you have never stayed here, you would not be aware of that". Again, obviously they didn't read the first line of my review. I have stayed there, twice! It is easier for someone to attack and demean than it is to admit flaws, take responsibility, and vow to fix shortcomings. As far as being cheaper, again I call BS. I have called and talked to 2 other parks (just down the road on the same mountain) and both "Were" cheaper for the same full hook up sites. And yes, the KOA does have a concrete patio on the one I booked. Apples to Apples! Please don't just dismiss people as stupid and blame algorithms or other nonsense and take some responsibility. I completely expected you to answer the way you did, blaming everyone and everything else, since that is exactly what you have done in "every" other response to feedback. By always saying that "this is how everyone else does things" you are just striving to be mediocre and average. Why not strive to be better! Wouldn't you feel better and look better to customers, if you just accepted responsibility and vowed to do better? I know I would. Lastly, Learn how to talk to and deal with customers. Don't just talk down to people. Show some feelings, compassion, and sincere concern for their thoughts and business. I just didn't get that "this time" (as I have stayed twice before). Like I said, felt like I was wasting your time and talking to a robot. As I said, I loved the park. If not, would I have tried to stay "again"? You have many customers giving great reviews. Fantastic. Just don't dismiss/demean your honest critics.

I'm not a fan of private RV parks, I prefer the wild outdoors and State parks, but I really liked this place. Was in the area to raft etc, and wanted full hookups as we wouldn't be at the camper much. I did my research of the area (I have been here a few times) and this one seemed to stand out. I had stayed at the KOA a few times, but they have always had a section of rigs that are permanently there, not to say that is a terrible thing, they also wanted about $100 a night for the time frame I was looking at (late July) and I KNOW that the sites are on top of each other. Got a premium site at Mountain View for about $70 a night, which was better than the other private grounds in the area with full hookups. And one had HORRID Google reviews (I won't mention their name.) Check-in was easy (pre-checked online) guy at the desk (maybe the owner?) wasn't friendly, but wasn't rude. It was the afternoon and I think he just wanted to be done for the day. However, the fellow with the southern drawl and the USMC hat was super cool. Took us to our site and chatted for a while, I should have gotten his name. Our site (21) was super long, like a 45' semi trailer and tractor would have fit comfortably in it. Had neighbors on both sides, but trees/shrubs between the sites made it feel a little more private. This place is tidy and super maintained. They have a LOT of rules (like most of these private grounds) and it was always quiet. We were here during the week, so I can't speak for weekends. Some of the facilities (mainly the bathroom by the office) are dated and in need of some TLC, but it was not an issue for me. Plenty of water, and showers were super hot. Apparently the water is trucked in from Canyon City and pretty hard, get a filter, or use water you brought like we did for coffee, etc. When I return to the area I will stay here or at the primitive sites closer to the Gorge that are owned by the City of Canyon City. I definitely recommend. Make sure to go to Centennial Park in Canyon City and swim in the Arkansas, they offer free loaner life jackets if needed. Take care, Ray

I had reserved and paid for 2 site with mountain view rv. Due to road contruction and detour we were expecting to arrive late to the rv camp, a little later than 9pm, I called ahead to explain why we were arriving late. The man I spoke to at rv office didnt care and told me I was a bad planner and then threaten me he was going to charge me a big fee if I even enter into the campground. He said that I couldn't stop there and that I better find a another campground for the night. I told him they already took my money why couldn't I park somewhere and checkin the next morning. He told me I can go ahead and leave a bad review. He also said I better not see you in my campground in the morning. I will not ever book mountain view rv again! I paid money for no service, was threatened, and intimidated. I was lucky and found another campground that were understanding and accommodate for my late arrival. No traveler should be treated this way. Can a business take my money, deny service, give threats? If you go on their fb page, you will see the owners response to my review. I never stop by his Campground. He made it very unsafe to a paid customer, please beware he is a greedy, rude, inconsiderate person. Update: the owner never offered to let me park outside! I had suggested if I could park as they already took my money. But after he threaten saying, "I better not see you in my campground in the morning", it was clear that it is not safe for me to be anywhere on his property. Please beware, lots other complaints from other customers too! Picture below is copy of mountain view checkin policy, I was treated unfairly!

Unfortunately never got the chance to actually stay. We were on our way to another destination and were going to do a one-night stay here in between. My husband booked it and the day of our drive up, we knew we'd be a bit later and wanted to just give a heads up and get information on how to navigate the site a bit later (9 pm). So, we made a call to the site and the person on the other end told us that no, we could not come later, as they close and lock the gates at 5 pm. And also laughed when my husband was surprised he hadn't seen that in the booking itself and basically offered no solution or help in where we might stay otherwise. We were dumbfounded that he said that "you could leave after 5, but you can't get back in." Imagine if a guest went to grab grocery items or have a meal and came back to locked gate at 5 pm! I'm sorry, I have a personal policy not to leave poor reviews because everyone has bad days, but I found this truly confusing and frustrating, as we also had our 2 and 4-year-old children, and it left us with no place to stay at that moment! Thankfully, we could find a very nice spot at Lake Pueblo State Park last-minute that happily took our money and allowed us entry (and exit if needed) after 5:00 pm! They're policy apparently states that arrivals 30 minutes after sunset (9pm for early summer or 8pm around labor day), would not be allowed in the park. We had stated that we should arrive around (likely before) 9pm- still no allowance whatsoever. Would not recommend this place. Unfortunate! Looking at other poor reviews, I know the responder will rant about how we should have read the rules and policy. I don't fully disagree on that point, however, it should be in any listing as well. They will likely say they "offered to let us drydock outside the campground", which was nothing more than them saying "you can park in our parking outside the gates". Realistically, we'd have been getting there still in right at or just before the stated time with small children, but no. And apparently according to reviews, small children aren't welcome either, so I guess that makes no difference to them. So we'd have been paying the site fee to sit out in a parking lot with our small kids because they didn't feel it was allowable to let us in likely before their own stated cutoff time! It very much felt like this was something they do often, which made it feel even more odd as it's clear from reviews that others have had the same issue, making it feel even a bit "scammy". Moreover, the sarcastic, bad attitude of the person on the phone was completely unnecessary and simply translates to poor service. READ THE RULES and find print. Apparently, we didn't, and it bit us in the end, however, the rules seem over-the-top and outlandish for...

From the day we decided to stay at Mountain View RV Resort with our families, we were excited. Others we know have stayed with the resort and had nothing but great things to say in regards to the location and convenience.

But since day 1, we have had nothing but issues. Reservation issues to start. Booking as a group is what we wanted but clearly the office staff didn't understand our intentions. Multiple reservations, paid by different families, but wanting to be near each other to gain the ability to enjoy our weekend together. Not so bad, right? Multiple issues, a variety of phone calls later and it was taken care of with still a constant concern about our reservation until the day of arrival.

That brings arrival day. After a full day of personal events, we finally were able to head to the site in the evening. We were told that if we didn't arrive before night fall, that we would have to park out front and not be allowed in. Out of fear of losing our money (Policy: full payment up front, no refunds, and are only able to move to another time frame if requested 15 days prior!), we continued on to the site. (I appreciate wanting to take care of other campers and not disturb them, so this was a pro, but some understanding would be acceptable!) we arrived before night fall, no issues.

The last night before our departure we decided one last night of family time was what we needed! Surrounding the camp fire, very quietly I might add, we heard a golf cart turn into the camp site like a scene out of Fast and Furious, almost hitting the electric box.The owner, I believe is name is Carter, jumped out yelling stating "was it not obvious that we didn't want you to move the fire pit?" (There is no documented rules stated anywhere to not move the pit, it was not chained down or permanently grounded, and we chose a very safe location, actually farther from the tree by which it was previously placed! We honestly didn't know there was a problem, as we had it moved throughout our whole stay, or that he had moved it back prior to this incident!) After multiple yelling fits by the owner and us politely getting up, putting out OUR fire, and putting the pit back in its prior location, he then chose to walk off yelling "G* Da*"! All he would have had to do was nicely ask us to put it back and we would have gladly done so!

Never have I ever seen this from a business owner to people who have clearly paid alot of money to be here! What if my children had been awake?! We will never be returning to this site and we will ensure everyone we know understands how poorly we were treated over what could have been a very small situation!

Very displeased and saddened as we have enjoyed our multiple camping trips this year and would have liked to return...
