I never leave reviews. (Those dreaded four words.) But…we visited the Hotel Fremont on Monday, July 5th, 2021 to celebrate our sister-in-law’s birthday. It was a little busy when we got there at 5:00, and because we had 10 people and one toddler, we called ahead to let them know we were coming. The problem here wasn’t the food, with the exception that the deep fryer oil was burnt and was desperately in need of a changing. (You know when the flavor of your fries leaves that sour/bitter aftertaste in your mouth? And they are WAY too dark?) Yeah, that was really the only food complaint. The server though? Wow. I don’t think I have ever had a worse one! She was young and clearly inexperienced…and clearly not trained, so at first we were more than willing to cut her some slack and the benefit of the doubt. So when we asked for something and she replied with a, “I am going to do such-and-such first because I have like 12 other tables…” we were less-than-impressed, but willing to overlook it…but when our food finally arrived after 90 minutes and my mother-in-law asked for some more of the sauce that comes on her salmon sandwich, our server’s reply sent the whole experience downhill real fast. “And what sauce is that?” she said with a heavy dose of annoyance. My MIL replied, “whatever sauce is supposed to come on this sandwich, it’s the slammin’ salmon…I would just like some more.” The waitress DOUBLED down, “I don’t know what that is, I don’t make the food.” Again, her tone was insanely rude - almost yelling at my MIL! Well, there is so much more, but this is already too long, so here’s some bulletpoints: my SIL’s caprese salad came with parsley instead of basil and no balsamic. (See photo) When this was pointed out, our server replied with, “well I don’t work in the kitchen.” My FIL’s entire order was overlooked (but strangely we had two of something else) - which our server very quickly blamed on the kitchen. She said it would be out in 10 minutes… 25 minutes later she comes back and asks if we need some boxes…with my FIL STILL sitting there waiting for his food! Bottom line: this place could be great, because overall the food was good (the reason for the two stars and not just one) and the location is great but if they don’t vet and train their servers, they will have a very hard future. Then again, maybe they don’t care if they burn through customers…because not one of our party of 10 will ever be going back. On a side note: the women’s restroom needs serious attention. The faucet handle on the sink came off in my hand and the toilets were filthy. I don’t even want to start on...
Read moreWe had a group of 8 attend, calling ahead to ensure they were able to accommodate us. When we arrived there was a maximum of 8 people in the entire facility eating. We then asked if we could all be seated together, the waitress, who was entirely unfriendly and rude insinuated that they don't have the facilities. She proceeded to sit us separately in groups of 4.
arriving at 11 a.m, seated by 11:10 am, and we didn't receive drink orders or menus until 11:25. By 11:35 the waitress came back to take our order.
we then proceeded to wait 1.5 hours for our food. Our party at the 2nd set of tables received their food within 45 minutes (still a long wait when you are not busy) We requested an update from the waitress as to where our food was, and she issues an attitude. Indicating it would be 10 more minutes. Another 30 minutes went by and we received the exact same response but in a far more rude manner, we were then informed she had not put our order in.
At this time, an hour and a half from when we first sat down, no drink refills or courtesy. We up and left, and the waitress proceeded to get very angry that we would do such a thing.
I will never attend the Hotel Fremont's food section ever again, and I encourage people to...
Read moreWe have been here 3 times this week 1 breakfast and 2 lunches. On Tuesday my wife had the M.O.S. burger with sweet potato fries and I had the Roasted Rueben with potato chips, both were tasty and way too much to finish. Our waitress was friendly and kept me in Iced Tea, which I drink a lot of. The next morning we went there for breakfast, my wife had a spinach omelet with hollandaise sauce with whole wheat toast and I had what they called the Hot Mess, eggs potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, ham all cooked together served with hollandaise sauce and English muffin, I finished my breakfast, but my wife had plenty for the next day. Today my wife and I were joined by my brother, we had lunch, my brother had the Triple Decker Club Sandwich with potato chips, my wife had Wolf River Wrap, a chipolte chichen wrap, with sweet potato fries and I had the Pheemont Philly sandwich with Au Jus and sweet potato fries. My wife and I have found a real gem in a very small town in central Wisconsin. All three times we had 3 different waitresses. All 3 were efficient, friendly and more than willing to answer questions. A unique dining experience with better than...
