Unfortunately this Microtel has majorly declined all across the board. I have stayed at this particular location numerous times over the last couple of years and my last 2 visits which were within 2 weeks of each other was less than pleasant. The rooms were not cleaned it seemed except for the sheets being changed (hopefully) I stayed in a Queen suite the last 2 visits there was toothpaste all over the bar sinks that are in the room, and the tables were dirty. The staff this last visit were far from stellar and it’s very apparent that location is now more of an extended stay as I saw the same guests still there from the previous visit and over heard them talking to another couple who apparently “live” there as well. I am about 99.8 % sure after another incident I witnessed between “Sunny”, an older gentleman and a woman that the transaction witnessed was set up between the older gentleman and “Sunny” as payment arrangements for sexual favors from the woman to the older gentleman who was able to get a room for $60 even paid in cash. The gentleman then stepped outside and the woman asked “Sunny” what she is supposed to call the older gentleman as he wasn’t specific when he “requested her”.
I arrived after midnight with my hands full of my things and stood there for a good 3 minutes in the first lobby before having to call the front desk because the doors to the inside were locked. I get buzzed in after he answers the phone and when I walked in he walked out from the offixe that was right there when you come in the front door, I jokingly asked if I woke him up and he said no he just had a headache and didn’t feel like working, okkkk then. My original reservation was for 3 nights when I checked in there was a problem with my card, I went ahead and paid for one night and the guy said he would keep my reservation and leave a note for the next shift to run my card again in the morning at check out time unless I had instructed otherwise. I called first thing in the morning and found out my card had been put on a freeze due to suspicious activity which ended up being fraudulent charges on my account. By the time I got off the phone dealing with that it was getting close to 11 (checkout time) I called the front desk explained the situation and told him (Sunny is what he said his name was) and explained I was scrambling to make other arrangements as I had been driven there in an Uber and could I have a late check out. “Sunny” then tells me he will let me stay until 11:30 because he has quests that have booked my room and will be there at 12:00. I get all my things together and are out of the room and at the front desk by 11:20. I asked “Sunny” when they started allowing check-ins at 12 because I had inquired about checking in that early on a previous trip and was told it’s not allowed. He then rudely tells me check out time is 11 and that rooms get booked in advance, yes I am aware of how hotel/motel bookings work. He then asks “Am I done”? I said well I guess I am. He then asks me why I didn’t pay a deposit, I say well I stay here any time I am in town and have for a while and they haven’t made me pay a deposit in a long time. I then get a lecture on how every quest pays a deposit no matter what that there are guest there way more than I am and they always pay a deposit. He then proceeded to pick up the phone and drill the guy who checked me in about why he did not take a deposit from me, looks at me tells me I’m “good to go and can leave now”.
I will not be going back, it stinks in the hallways and rooms and the current staff are rude and basically careless...
Read moreI don't normally rant on Google but I have to tonight. I am traveling for work and I checked into this hotel Monday evening and planned on staying for eleven nights. Unbeknownst to me, I reserved a smoking room. Upon my arrival, I shared that I would like a non-smoking room with the gentleman at the counter, due to my allergies. He stated that there was no such room but he would secure one the next day on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I had to sleep in the room which was dirty, grimy and smelled of smoke. I grabbed all of my belongings on Tuesday morning, walked up to the counter and explained to the same gentleman that I would like to transfer to a non-smoking upon my return. He stated that there were no such rooms at that early hour (7am). I shared that I had to go to work for the day and wouldn't return until well after 5pm. He wrote a note for his coworker that stated I would like to move from my smoking room to a non-smoking room upon my return. I left for work, with my luggage in hand, and returned at 7pm (long day and tons of traffic). Upon my return, there was another gentleman at the counter, so I explained my situation to him. He seemed to know what I was talking about but promptly said that they didn't have a non-smoking room for me. I stated again that I would NOT be sleeping in that room due to my allergies. He then stated that his coworker (the guy I spoke with Monday night and Tuesday morning) said that I had left. He also stated that I was supposed to come back before 11am to transfer rooms. Not once did the previous gentleman state that I had to be back at a certain time. I explained AGAIN that I was working all day (30+ minutes away) and could NOT come back until I was off. Now, remember, I had already paid for 11 days. I stated that I needed to cool off and make a phone call so I walked outside and sat in my vehicle. Upon returning, the same gentleman from the previous evening and morning was now at the counter. I expressed my disgust and stated that I would need a refund for my remaining 10 days. He then informed me that I would have to pay for Tuesday evening even though I was not staying there. He said that it was too late to rent the room out and that their housekeeping had gone home for the day. I stated that it was NOT my problem and I demanded a full refund for the remaining days. The other gentleman appeared once again and informed me of the same thing. Needless to say, by that time, I was rather upset. I gave him my card and stated that they would be hearing from me in the future. The counter person proceeded to refund me for only 9 days in which I signed the refund slip as to not make a bigger scene. I made it clear to both counter-men that I was very angry and would be discussing this disputed charge with my credit card company. So, to make a long story short, you may not want to check-in at this hotel. There are too many other options in the Dallas area to deal with this kind of treatment!! And, to the General Manager of this hotel (Atul Patel) -...
Read moreI hope there's enough space for me to leave a fair review of our experience.
First, the late night gentleman was really awesome by being able to help me with a situation that was not expected to be within their scope of customer service. BUT... it was downhill after that.
Only 2 light switches in the room worked. There were PUBIC hairs on the toilet under the rim. The curtains FELL OFF when I attempted to open them. And finally, the window sill was gross with DUST and BUG FECES. All this I did not bother mentioning to the hotel only because I desperately needed a room with a jacuzzi tub in the room on short notice. What I cannot shake, though, is how I was treated by the morning staff.
The morning "lady" at the front desk was GOD AWFUL RUDE. I made two plates of waffles from the continental breakfast w/ two bagels. My room, #101, was only twelve feet from where the food was located. As I began to leave the lobby with our plates, she rudely told me I cannot take the plates with me and that it MUST be consumed in the lobby only (and then pointed at a warning sign I honestly didn't see). Well, I already had the plates filled and I asked her if she would make an exception considering my room was only 12 steps away, but to my surprise, she pointed at the sign and shouted "No!". My guest in my room was ill and I was not about to force her to get dressed and come sit in that lobby to have (what would now be) a cold breakfast. And I must mention that during the time I was preparing the plates numerous guests came-and-went with plates to their rooms. Having no choice, the perfectly good food went in the trash. An hour later, we we preparing to check out, I witnessed other guests filling their plates and taking them to their room. I'm a 43yr old adult. I cannot believe I was treated like a kid. Despite how great the night person was who checked us in, everything else negates that.
I am forced to give this dump one star, and I question Wyndham's lack of leadership of these smaller hotels. I previously thought the "Wydham" name brought security in the expectance if Quality and Customer Service. I am very dismayed by this experience. As a frequent traveler, I am now forced to stay away from any hotel under the...
