Homegrown Hideaways: Papa Bear Chalet — Hotel in Gatlinburg

"Wow! I can’t say enough about the Papa Bear Chalet. But “perfect” comes to mind.

The accommodations were great, the views were awesome, there were plenty of activities to keep everyone busy, and the wildlife sightings (bears every morning & evening, and wild turkeys gobbling in the morning) added to the excitement of being together with our extended family.

The views from the two decks and the living room were fantastic. The home is very nicely furnished and decorated to give you the feeling of a warm, cozy, inviting mountain retreat. The home is spacious and well laid out with plenty of room to gather, both inside and outside, as a group or individually. The kitchen is well supplied, and most of all the house was very clean.

Chris and Morgan were wonderful and very responsive. Their great recommendations for places to eat, shop and things to do were invaluable.

It was an amazing experience! The place has beautiful view from the patio! Chris & Morgan are wonderful host. All the helpful instructions are nicely documented. Home has all the supplies you will need from kitchen utensils to laundry supplies. Kids had great time splashing in hot tub and in the night watching movies (with Netflix and Amazon subscription available to choose from). We went in summer. The road to the property is very well maintained and there was no issue at all. There is also power outlet outside to charge your electric/hybrid car. We also encountered bears couple of times, I think they patrol the area around 8:00pm every night. I would highly recommend this place for a wonderful family vacation experience in...

"What a wonderful week, really highlighted by the fantastic property and location of this home! The first day we arrived, we saw Blackbears wondering around. 3 days we saw bears which of course at a safe distance, but man did it make the kids days. Great house and well laid out with three separate levels of living. Game room in lower level was awesome. Brand new porch was amazing for early morning coffee watching sunrise and overlooking downtown Gatlinburg. Chris and Morgan were great communicators and had a complete literal playbook for everything in the area. We ate from all their recommendations. Drive is a very manageable 10 min to Gatlinburg down the mountain and 18 to pigeon forge. Can’t wait to...
