This is the worst koa I've ever stayed at. We were there on an extended stay for my husbands job. The site itself was horrible and unlevel. We had to Jack the rear end of our camper up so high to get it level that the back wheels came off the ground! Also our campsite was in the middle of the campground under a huge security light which attracted bugs straight to our camper to the point we couldnt even sit outside much! The showers are disgusting! Broken tile, and mold everywhere. The water pressure in our camper was almost non existent! The owners children drive around on a golf cart at very high speeds, slinging gravel all over peoples vehicles and campers. There is a mini farm on site and the roosters, chickens, and turkeys roam freely through out the campground and make it impossible to sleep past 5 am. The laundry facility needs majorly updated as it only has 1 working dryer and the washing machines are so old that they hardly get your clothes clean! If you have mail coming here for extended stays, forget it! They have you send their mail to their post office box and it is NEVER delivered in a timely manner. I run a small business from our camper and my inventory was never delivered to me in time making it difficult to keep my customers satisfied. I was almost assaulted in their laundry facility by another fellow camper(due to their only being 1 dryer) I reported the incident to the owner and NOTHING was done about it! They are supposed to deliver your firewood to your campsite when you order it and rarely do, due to the fact that their night shift desk clerk is on a Walker, so you have to pack your firewood back to your campsite yourself. I have 3 cats that travel with us. They are inside durring the day and go into their kennels at night and the owners have a "campground cat" named sprinkles that they turn loose at night, and it would always come to our site at 2 or 3 in the morning and attack my cats while in their kennels. They let people turn their dogs loose without supervision. 3 seperate occasions my children was almost bitten by another campers dog! They never come around and scoop out your fire pits like they're supposed to. In the 4 months we were there it was only scooped out 1 time by Koa staff. The rest of the times I personally had to scoop it out. The playground is definitely the highlight of this koa. The jump pillow was adored by my children. The roads are narrow and they rent out spots that are literally on the side of the roads making it nearly impossible to get your vehicle thru there. When. we arrive we notified them we would need a spot from March until September. Office staff told us they had us locked in and we were good till September. In may we were notified that we had to be out by June 15th bc the campground was completely booked for the summer and they had no spots available for us. Only for us to get on the website to find that it was in fact a lie! When confronted about it, the owner said there was nothing she could do so they basically forced us to leave in peak season when all other surrounding campgrounds were already booked for the summer! Nice way to treat a family with 3 children!! And if you have anything you store in totes under your camper, forget it. They dont like you to have anything outside. I had 6 camping chairs sitting around our fire pit (there 5 of us in our camper) and was told that I needed to clean my campsite up because it was a disaster...over 6 camping chairs!!! This is the worst koa in the history of koa's and I would not reccomend this campground to anyone!! They are the rudest bunch of people I have ever met in my life!! Not worth the money you spend here for extended stays!! The only thing close to this campground is a loves truck stop that is CONSTANTLY crowded and impossible to get in and out quickly and the noise from the super close by interstate 65 makes it almost impossible to sleep! Save your money and camp elsewhere!...
Read moreDo Not bother to stop here! The management here is a total joke. A very grouchy individual was already in our camping spot...parked in the road but using our electricity and water and yelling at us to move because he has both "spots". The illegal camper was quite a jerk, so instead of dealing with him directly we walked back to the main office. As soon as we walked in we were asked if someone was in our spot? So they knew that this guy was there already! The woman said that they haven't been able to make him move! She said she'd call a manager. My wife and I were quite upset that they can't handle this one person. We were told that we could have another camping spot, meaning we'd have to pull out of the spot they gave us, with our RV and drive out of the campground and then back in like we had before and repark our RV. The claim jumper was completely the problem, yet the manager that was called in came in upset and nearly yelling from the start before helping us, gave us a sad story about the rude fellow using our electricity and water. She said he had to get something fixed earlier in the week and instead of parking in his camping spot, he parked in the wrong spot...We were expected to either leave with a refund, stay one night and leave, or drive back around this entire campground to reposition our RV in a new spot so that one idiot could continue to hold on to a camping spot that he wasn't even supposed to be in! This, most certainly needed to come with some type of compensation for our trouble. This wasn't at all starting out as a relaxing vacation. My wife asked for some type of compensation. The manager told my wife that she was asking for something that she shouldn't be asking for because it was just an accident. She also said that this type of thing happens often. They obviously have zero security or park patrols at all! If I had taken things into my own hands I am quite sure the local law would have been called. Since we asked the park management to fix this then nothing was done to correct the situation. This wasn't good enough so my wife told this, very unprofessional, manager that a 10% discount would do! We received our discount and moved to our new camping spot. No apologies from this woman. Customer service is lacking greatly here It would seem to me that this is not a safe place for my family or your's to stay if they can't handle such a simple situation! We camp as often as we can. I have never seen such a poor example of management at a camping facility! There are no garbage cans on site, and the dump site it not set up for use upon departure. Unless you leave, turn around, come back up the hill, dump and then go the wrong way on a one way road, you can't use the waste dump. The website for this place should also mention that you will hear traffic all night long because of the proximity to the interstate. Go elsewhere my fellow campers! (Update) 08-11-23 Finally, after almost a year this place responded! If it took this long for any reply to be given, just how much are customers appreciated!? Go elsewhere folks! You will be glad...
Read moreI've stayed that this KOA 4 times and had no issues (besides traffic noise) with the location, cleanliness or the people the first 3 times. First 2 times I stayed w/ my husband and kids in the basic cabin. It has a couple of beds and a/c. The second stay I was with my sister and we paid $105 for a deluxe cabin, which has plumbing, etc.
The first time my sister and I came through we stayed in KO2, which was also a deluxe cabin. KO2 was clean. The futon was stiff as a board, but we realize it was a cabin, not the Sheraton. The bathroom area, toilet, floors, shower, sink were all spotless. I was actually impressed, because, again, it's a cabin. The only issue that night was traffic noise. Good grief the traffic noise was terrible! But a simple sound machine app on my phone drowned that out pretty quick.
The second time we came through we had KO3. The "kitchen/living" area was clean. Did notice a very large black spot near the wall on the floor, assuming water damage, but besides that it was decent. The bed in the 'bedroom' was decent too, even had clean linens! But the bathroom; toilet, shower, floor and sink....not clean. It looked like there was urine on the bathroom floor near the shower and near the wall behind the toilet. And there were stray hairs near the shower/wall area and behind the toilet on the floor, next to what looked like urine. The sink looked like someone had spit mucus on the faucet and it just ran down into the sink. I gagged when I saw that.
I attempted twice to call the office that night around 7pm to ask them about it, but they never picked up. I believe the hours posted showed the office was open until 8pm. So, I emailed them. I asked them to call me to discuss the photos I sent because we paid extra for a deluxe cabin and expected it to be clean like the first one. But I didn't receive a phone call, I received a reply to my email that, in not so many words, said, "Sorry, but our housekeeper has high standards and what you're seeing is merely lacquer from having the cabins redone. We have the same pictures." Ok, I can accept that it was lacquer, even thought it looked like mucus, but it wasn't even brought to our attention until I emailed about it. Shouldn't that have been mentioned? "Thank for staying...oh and by the way, we had the cabins redone and haven't been able to clean the lacquer yet." That would have been understood, better than, "Hey sorry for inconveniencing you."
We were offered an apology that didn't seem sincere. I wasn't asking for or expecting a refund, but I did expect more than an insincere apology. Heck, offering 10% off our next stay would have been better than that. We probably would have never used it anyway, but offering it would have been nice, you know, for inconveniencing us.
Also, the claim to have wifi, but only at the office and you can't stream anything. So pointless to offer it to...
