Halfway Motel & RV Park — Hotel in Halfway

I first stayed at the Halfway Motel and RV Park (the hotel side of it) on my honeymoon, and have been there three additional times most recently on 6/18/20. While the marriage didn't last, I can tell you that I have been able to rely on an absolute friendly, service forward experience, or quite simply that thing we call genuine Western hospitality in my times there. Last week, while staying at the motel on the way to a raft trip down Hells Canyon, I discovered a burned up wheel bearing on my trailer which ultimately required a new axle. I want to share how wonderful the owners took care of us, with every resource at their disposal at a very difficult time. Way above and beyond in their hospitality. We were pleasantly surprised. Since this little town is over 50 miles away from the closest other town, and there are only a few choices of where to stay, the owners could just completely let the place go and take on the attitude that "it is what it is". But that's not the case at all. The rooms were much bigger than expected and were absolutely spotless, this was one of the cleanest hotels we've ever stayed in, and we've stayed in several 4 star hotels. Of course the rooms and furnishings are a bit dated, but they are in really good condition, so it would be a complete waste of money for the owners to buy new furnishings/remodel when everything is just fine the way it is. Location is excellent, price is great (considering how expensive everything is these days). However, our room (105) was... not in good condition. The carpet was badly stained throughout the entire room, and the room had an earwig infestation (they were everywhere - ceiling, floor...i had one crawling up my leg when i put my sock on in the morning). Sheets and towels were clean. No bed bugs, thankfully. Room smelled a bit like stale cigarette smoke, though it was non-smoking. Walkability excellent.
