My sister and I stayed here last week; we planned a full day with Hell's Canyon Adventure Tours, then a relaxing homey return in the evening to the Pine Valley Lodge. I cannot say enough about the absolutely wonderful experience we enjoyed. So UNLIKE hotels--Kimberly (hostess) encouraged us to treat the B&B as our home (2 sitting areas, kitchen, fridge, etc), which we did! She put out delicious scones for us during the day. Friendly and enthusiastic, she treated us to a tour of this property with 3 guest houses , secret passageways, individually-themed guest rooms. |Breakfast is plentiful; the smell of waffles and maple syrup permeates the house and gets the appetite going. Large surrounding shady porches invite a tired guest to relax in a wicker rocker, imbibe in a glass of wine, pair with cheese and crackers as the cares of the world recede. |In fact, since there are at least 3 full houses--each with sitting rooms, porches, en suite bathrooms--we are talking about renting out one or two of the houses for a family reunion in the future. The town hosts a robust Pie Auction, a Rodeo, concerts and 4th of July fireworks! And...Hell's Canyon River Adventures is a short drive for a full day of fishing, rafting or cruising. Travelers will not be disappointed--unless it is in not...
Read moreWe stayed here on 8/31 while on a three-week bicycle trip and it was the best place to stay we encountered. The lodge itself is rustic, gorgeous, and unique with interesting things to see inside. The room we had upstairs in the lodge was cozy and uniquely decorated. We could lock our bikes to the railing on the lodge porch and there was a place to charge my ebike there. The owner, Shelly, greeted us enthusiastically and was charming and interesting to talk with. The lodge stay included a large buffet breakfast for guests but unfortunately, we had a long ride the next day requiring an early departure so we missed it. Understanding our plight, Shelly gave us full access to the lodge's kitchen which had coffee/tea, bagels, yogurt, fruit, cereal, and a variety of other items which provided a nice breakfast. Her hospitality was much appreciated! The lodge, which is easy walking distance to everything in the small town of Halfway, would be a great place to spend a weekend. If I'm ever in the area with my wife, this is...
Read moreThe Lodge is a great cluster of three older houses with varying sized rooms and a comfy communal lounge with places to hang out and also to have breakfast. Our room was upstairs and was furnished with unique antiques and had a beautiful handmade quilt on the bed. There was no TV which we appreciated but for those wanting modern touches the wifi worked just fine. Breakfast was good and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. We had a last minute change to our reservation because of an ill dog and they were very accommodating and did not apply their advertised cancellation policy. And as a added bonus they recommended the restaurant across the street which is rather plain but serves excellent locally...
