The house's decor was extremely interesting; in a homey way, and nothing like we've ever seen. Don, our host was very amiable and accommodating. He offerered my wife a tour upon check-in, while I went to grab our luggage.
The game room has tons of board games, there is a billiard room in excellent condition with military memorabilia. Out of the three rooms available, we stayed in the Celebration room. It's adorned in a Christmas theme that made us feel like it was December all over again. They have a kitchen to cook anything you packed, but also give you unfettered access to food items in the fridge you can take advantage of if you didn't bring anything (at no extra cost). The bed looked like it was going to be a little hard for me (queen bed) but it was memory foam and felt fantastic. They have DirectTV with a million channels and Wi-Fi. Our little girls slept in separate twin beds and slept very well.
At breakfast, Don served us in a KN95 mask and offered us 7 different drink options (including Peach juice- yum!) while the whole house had the aroma of freshly cooked bacon. The master chef, Judy whipped up homemade pancakes, cheesey eggs, (surprise) bacon, and apple slices with the skin cut off which were incredibly fresh and crunchy. Don kept the food train running, asking us what else he could bring while we gobbled down the fantastic food. All in all, it was a quaint visit with adorable hosts and I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. Be sure to check out the Hamilton Ice Cream shop as well, our...
Read moreWe had a delightful experience from reaching out to make a reservation until being asked if we wanted to take a snack for the road as we left. We were welcomed like family. There were 3 kinds of freshly baked cookies on the table as we walked in. Don and Judy love having their Bed & Breakfast and it shows. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the grounds had many places to sit and enjoy the porch and yard. It was quiet. We had wonderful options for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. Everything fresh and made from scratch. Don had a menu for us to choose from when we got settled in. We shared our choices and he asked us what kind of bread/muffins we wanted. I said I didn't want to choose - as delicious as the cookies were I wanted to be surprised. I made the comment that as good as those cookies were I imagined Judy knew how to make great biscuits but didn't ask for them. The next morning, she had made a pan of delicious biscuits - very thoughtful. They were security conscious as well and we felt safe. I went for a walk the next morning. They are near the square and a multi-mile walking trail made from the old railroad tracks. I went several miles and it was a great path. We highly recommend Holly House and look forward to the...
Read moreWe stayed at Holly House Nov. 21-Nov. 24, 2013. What a wonderful B & B experience for my family. Upon arrival the owner Judy surprised us with homemade chocolate chip cookies, and gluten free chocolate chip cookies just for me. Judy goes out of her way to make everyone feel so special. One of our daughters was getting married in the Pine Mountain area. On the morning of her wedding, Judy surprised us with a 6 foot paper cut out of wedding bells that she hung up in the dining room. Staying at The Holly House of Hamilton conjures up warm and welcoming memories of visiting a nurturing mother, grandmother or aunts home. Upon waking up in the morning you smell freshly brewed coffee, eggs & bacon cooking with homemade muffins baking in the oven. Everyone that plans on visiting the Columbus, Hamilton, Pine Mountain or Callaway Gardens area should without a doubt book reservations to stay here instead of a chain hotel. Since we have family living in the area, but don't want to overstay our welcome in their home, we will be staying at the Holly House of...
