My wife and I decided to try Breaking Bread because we’d heard good things about it and wanted something different than Subway and possibly fresher. We arrived there today, Sept 9, between 1:00-1:30pm. It was very busy which was to be expected, however, all of the staff looked irritated to be working and not a smile to be seen. While in line we noticed that all of the veggies, meats and even bread was outsourced in bags and nothing was freshly prepared. There’s nothing to separate Breaking Bread from the quality of Subway. In fact, at least Subway bakes their bread fresh on site. All of the chips, products and drinks were identical to Subway’s.
I ordered a 6” Italian and my wife ordered 6” tuna. The staff, again no smiles, were very skimpy with their ingredients. When we sat down to eat the meat on my sandwich was extremely cheap quality, full of gristle and had a sour taste. After a few bites I couldn’t eat any more and threw the sandwich away. My wife’s tuna, which she gave me half of, was bland, tasted old and ended up making her sick.
Needless to say, if you’re coming here expecting to get a high-quality sandwich you will be very disappointed. The quality of Breaking Bread is on par with gas station sandwiches. Save your money and just go to Subway. Very disappointing as we always prefer to support local,...
Read moreI have always enjoyed the food at Breaking Bread even when it was Blimpie because it was fresh and the atmosphere was welcoming. Today my experience was different. I asked for a chicken salad that I thought I would be able to customize since I have always done so in the past, however, I asked for hard boiled egg and they said it wasn't available on my salad selection so I asked if they would add it and charge me an upcharge. They said no, they couldn't do that. Then I asked for a cup of ice because I had my tumbler in my car with water already and wanted to freshen it and they said I had to buy a drink for full price. I was surprised that they have become so rigid and the result is making the customer feel unwelcome and awkward. I have no problem paying additional charges for a cup (maybe .50) or an egg but to be told NO just feels disappointing. I hope there can be some reflection in the policies and new ways to incorporate...
Read moreI appreciate that they have vegetarian options. The food I got was good, and the prices are inexpensive. I got the VegiMax sandwich. It was fine but nothing to write home about, and the bread was disintegrating when they served it to me which meant the sandwich as a whole didn't hold together. The cookies were very good though. I got the sugar cookie and sprinkle cookie. The individual cookies were $0.95 each.
The Monster Cookie has buttercream sandwiched between two cookies. The cashier told me I could customize my own Monster Cookie with different individual cookies, too.
There is seating inside and outdoors on a covered porch, and there are a few...
