Updated 5/23: This was my second visit. We came on opening day several years ago and never made it back.
The food is good but a little pricy. Prices are equivalent to a sit-down restaurant, but here you order at the counter and then they bring the food to your table.
I think part of the price is small-town tax. Hamilton doesn’t have many restaurants and I’ve heard rent is expensive. Part of what you’re paying for is the convenience of not driving to Columbus or Pine Mountain.
Margaritas were good, but for $9 we got not-full Solo-size cup. They didn’t charge my wife for her second, but I’m not sure if this is typical.
I had the barbacoa taco and pollo asado taco. Both were very good, but two tacos left me a little hungry.
My wife had the nacho fries with barbacoa. This was a lot more food and we ended up sharing it. It’s more than one person would want in many cases.
Two drinks, two tacos and the nacho fries was $42 before the tip.
As far as ambiance, the place is nicely, if sparsely decorated. It was quiet, which we appreciated, since many places are too noisy with tvs or music blaring.
Our only real complaint was that they didn’t bring the food at the same time. I had almost eaten all of my taco’s before my wife’s nacho fries arrived. (She gave me permission to go ahead and eat.) if I had waited, my food would have been cold. —
We went to El Primo on its opening day. The food was good and service was friendly.
We had a snafu on food delivery in which our order was shorted several items. The staff was apologetic and fixed the error quickly.
Ordering is a la carte so there was some confusion as to what food belonged to who on our group of four. For example, I ordered three tacos and my food came out on a platter with four tacos, one of which belonged to someone else in my group. I'd recommend that they categorize the orders better to avoid such problems.
In the end, the experience was good and the problems that we experienced could be attributed to opening day growing pains and glitches. We will...
Read moreWent there tonight with my family. We live in Hamilton and were excited about it having good reviews. Understand first.. this is my experience. Arrived to empty restaurant. Looked over the menu. I decided on the carne asada quesadilla for 8.50 before tax. My wife.. ordered a chicken bowl no pico. my oldest son ordered a kids taco meal. ( comes with taco. rice. beans. And chips and drink Youngedt ordered quesadilla kids meal. bill was about 48 dollars after drinks. We go to the table. I notice that the kids meal comes with a drink. i was charged for 4 drinks totaling just under 9 dollars. I go up.to the front and ask the cashier if I was suppose to get the kids drinks as part of their order. After I showed him on their menu where is states the meals come with drinks. he kindly removed them and refunded me. NO PROBLEM. then our order arrives. my youngest sons meal came with just his quesadilla and 4 chips... 4. no rice or beans as ordered. my oldest came with rice and beans.. no chips as ordered. my wife.. who ordered a chicken bowl no pico. is brought what appears to be a chicken salad with sour cream as the dressing and pico all.over it. no rice as is suppose to come with it. my order.. which was for 8.50 before tax. was just a paper thin steak quesadilla which was a small tortilla shell cut into two halves. nothing else. which I was able to consume in less than 6 bites. mind you the food tasted pretty good. not 50 dollars good.. but it was pretty good.
for the money they are charging in relevance to what you can get for quality and quantity was far below satisfactory. There was no salsa bar. nothing but my hilariously messed up order that didn't even fill up my 3 year old.
Needless to say, we will not be returning. Which is unfortunate because I would love nothing more than to support local business. But I also did not get where I am today my pissing money away just because. Lesson learned, I hope others have a much more pleasant...
Read moreA lady told my husband how good this place was. We happened to be in the area and tried it out. It's really not a restaurant like I imagined. You order at the counter, get your drinks and plastic utensils then sit wherever you want. We went there about 1:30 on a Friday and was the only ones there. I ordered a veggie burrito and sprite. The sprite was awful so I bought a bottled coke from the cooler. The burrito wouldn't have been so bad had it been hot, but it was luke warm and the tortilla wrap was not even warm. It was pretty awful. The chips are from a bag, cold and don't taste good and neither does the sauce. My husband got a steak burrito. He said it just didn't taste good. We both left at least half of the food. Plus you get the food in these plastic baskets on parchment paper which is difficult to cut your food up. It all seemed cheap with everything plastic, even glases were styrofoam cups. Even if the prices weren't so high, we still would not go back. Service was not great either with us having to wait for the guy to get off the phone just to get out sauce. Don't see how they have any good...
