I recently reserved a cabin here as part of a week long motorcycle trip through Utah with my father. The day of our reservation, there was a severe storm that passed through the region. My father and I were caught in the middle of the storm just outside of Page, AZ. 70 mph + wind, lightning, and torrential rains. Numerous large houseboats were overturned on Lake Powell.

Once we made it to Page, there was no way we could safely ride up to Hanksville for our stay at Duke's. Our only option was to spend the evening in Page and continue on the following day. When I called to explain our situation, the representative even commented on how bad the weather was. When I asked if we could cancel the reservation due to the severe weather and our inability to get there safely, I was told we would not be refunded for the night. I understand cancellation policies and how they work, but I found this to be ridiculous. Especially due to the circumstances and the fact that the representative even commented on the severity of the weather.

I have taken many trips through southern Utah and will continue to do so, as it is one of the most scenic areas in the world. However, because the way this was handled by Duke's staff, I won't be giving them my/our business in the future and will advise others who travel through the area to look elsewhere. Sometimes a little customer service...

I’m the other half of the couple review submitted by @Beth Donahue 2 weeks ago. We stumbled upon Duke’s after sunset after failing to score a camp spot at Goblin Valley and a quick search on Google Maps. Kurt answers our phone call on the first ring and navigates us in as I didn’t see the sign coming in from the blind side in the dark of night. We parked our RV in a back-in site along the fence line. Still early season so we had the pick of the lot and paid $30+tax for off-season night. I think we were only 1 of 4 rigs there that night. The site was level!! Electric, water and sewage hook ups all nice and easy. Bathroom was immaculate! Hot water shower works! I can’t say that about many other parks that we’ve been, too. Kurt was super nice, knowledgeable and turned us on to the Mars Desert Research Center so we rode our bikes there the next morning instead of doubling back to Goblin Valley. Mars on Earth was other worldly to say the least. Stunning southwest desert landscape. And then there is the unique and eclectic Carl’s Critter Garden yard art museum next door. Woah! Who knew that Hanksville was worthy of being a destination? Two thumbs up all...

Perfect camping spot for 2 nights. This poor little town of Hanksville, UT has been to hell and back with recent flooding. But the resilience and protective care of the locals and not so locals who came and cleaned up the town is a testament to the grace of humanity. We camped here as an easy stop to visit Capitol Reef NP, and it was a perfect choice. The Temps went back up and so we needed electric for AC, instead of grabbing a no services spot. We were so pleased we came here. The Laundry room was immaculate, very reasonable and great to have right here. Only 2 downsides, one the wifi is weak, when the park is busy, it is non existent. Don't come planning to use it for anything important. Secondly, the spots are close, better than many other campgrounds, but still close. The noise and fumes from the buggy and motorcycle repairs was a little annoying, thank goodness they were mindful of the quiet hours. We didn't have a chance to visit the Dukes Grill, but how fantastic to have a cute eatery steps away! All and all a really nice camping experience. Good...
