I heard this inn was recently updated so I thought I would give it a try. Upon walking in I was absolutely disgusted. I was told the room had been cleaned but there was human feces in the toilet, facial hair all over the sink, no towels, no wash cloths, no toilet paper, the fridge was dirty, the pillow cases were dirty with someone else's hair still on them, and what looks like black mold under the sink. It rained that night and I also found out the bathroom ceiling was leaking. I told the office and they also didn't care about that as well. I went to the front desk to see if I could have another room and was told I would have to pay extra because the only other rooms available were two twin bed rooms. I was pretty surprised I was told I would have to pay extra considering I was placed in a room where I couldn't even lay my head on the pillow because it was filthy. What was the end result? I was given a bottle of bleach and toilet brush to clean my own room. I then asked about clean bedding, and was given sheets to change the bed as well. No one apologized, no one tried to make things right, and I was instead told I could clean my room. I wouldn't have trusted them to clean my room anyway since this is how they clean rooms. When I went to change my bedding the amount of stains on the mattress was... unbelievable. Urine stains maybe? Who knows. Please, please, do not got to this inn. I would not recommend it for families with children or anyone. If human feces is left in a supposedly clean room I cant imagine what filth is covering everything else.

Read moreWorst hotel I've ever stayed at. Room was so filthy I immediately went to Walmart and bought a blanket/pillow, that I will be throwing away when I leave. I refuse to walk on the floor barefoot, thankfully I brought sandals. The cable is out, so there are only 3 channels, which would normally be fine, however the wifi is trash. Not fast, doesn't stay connected, I can't get any work done. Perhaps the worst part(!) is when I come back from working during the day, someone has gone into my room and turned off the lights and air conditioner. First day it was just the a/c and I thought I was crazy and maybe I turned it off that morning while getting ready. Second day I intentionally left all the lights and TV and a/c on and when I got back at 5:30 it was all off and the room was about 80 degrees. Literally felt better outside than it did in the room. I was confused because when I checked it I was told that they only come to clean if I request it and I most certainly did not. I don't care where my work sends me from now on but I do know for certain that I will never stay at another Rodeside Inn for as long as I live. I would rather sleep in my car. The one staff member I have interacted with was amazing and the only redeemable quality this poor excuse for a hotel has. (As I was finishing this up, the wifi...
Read moreThe Rodeway on 355 Skidmore in Harlan, KY is hands-down the filthiest motel I’ve ever stayed in within the continental US. Albeit I have seen and/or stayed in harsher, even more unsanitary establishments, but only while serving my country in less developed parts of the world, and usually amidst some sort of political unrest. According to my family, all of whom are lifelong citizens of Harlan County, they knew ahead of time that, of the two places to stay in town, the Rodeway would be a trap house in comparison to the Quality (also owned and operated by Choice). However, pinned down by recent sudden financial circumstances, it was the only affordable option, citing the discounted weekly rate.
To be brutally candid, I find myself combatting my conscience to a tune of why I’m reporting my guest treatment and sanitation grievances here instead of with the KY Department of Health & Hotels, or the CDC. On the other hand, I would appreciate the same courtesy.
With that in mind, I think I would rather just reach out to Choice, in order to speak with someone endowed with sufficient authority to actually effect change, as there’s simply too much...
