This is one property where I am reading the reviews after I stayed here. I am normally traveling 90 days in a year for business as well as family vacations. This inn is packed with lots of good reviews but before you choose this place, make sure you read all reviews which are marked 1 star or 2 star. These are correct reviews and concerns the most when you are actually renting this place.
I chose this inn for the fact that it is very close to Volcano National Park. I reserved this for 2 nights for Dec 25th and 26th. I had the most expensive room which was listed on the website. All comments which are written under 1 star reviews are accurate and correct. I wish I would have paid more attention before reserving this place. The place is dirty, disgusting and hazardous. Beds, sheets and pillows are from 80s and God knows when they were washed. Beds were noisy and most uncomfortable it could get. Mold on the walls, bugs in the room, bed bugs, hard spring in the beds, uncomfortable temperature in the room and much more...you name it and that problem was there.
We wanted to leave same night we arrived but we got there so late after our long day and drive so we decided to leave in the morning. We didn't care about any refund for unused night and we just chose another place which was lot better. I lost my money here, fine it was nonrefundable but my family's comfort and health was more important than refund.
Guys, don't fall for many good reviews of this place, this place is a dump and doesn't deserve to stay in business. All new travelers, if you are lucky, you will read this review and all other reviews with 1 star. Simply avoid this place.
I wouldn't say the present staff was rude or ignoring nature. Couple of staff members with whom I interacted, were not rude at all. They were fine.
The management or ownership, whoever is answering the comments, seems to be very inexperienced and negative nature. Instead of working towards the problem and correcting issues, they are attacking with very poor replies.
I left the place 24 hours before my check out time because there was nothing talk to anyone about. The condition the property is in, couldn't have done anything for us. We had a sleepless night on Christmas night but we were better once we changed our hotel.
Travelers, I hope you read all 1 star reviews before you choose this dump. You will only be doing...
Read moreI booked 2 nights at Volcano Inn and ended up leaving after the first night because of how much I did not like it. My number 1 issue with this inn is that Google lists it as a 4-star hotel. This inn is not a 4-star hotel, it is more like a 1 or 2 star motel. If this place has been advertised as a 2-star motel, I would give it 4 stars. As a 4-star hotel, I would rate it 0 stars if I could. Advertising it as a 4-star hotel gives guests the wrong expectation.
Besides the false advertising, I had other issues with the inn. This inn is very eco-friendly, which is wonderful. However, it comes at a significant reduction in comfort. The rooms do not have AC and power is only supplied to the rooms when you physically in them and have your key plugged into the wall. This is an issue because the inn is located in a rainforest and therefore the air is extremely damp. They provide a dehumidifier, but because there is no power when you are not in the room you are unable to run it while you are away. This means that all your belongings and clothes are damp when you return to the inn and the room has annoying anti-mold measures such as noisy plastic wrappings/covers for the mattresses. Another issue I had is that the bed frame in my room was so unstable and rickety that it would bang against the wall if you so much as every turned over in bed. The staff had evidently tried to fix it by using command strips to stick the bedframe to the wall, but obviously some tape is not going to prevent a bed frame from banging noisily against the wall anytime you move in the bed. They either need sturdier bedframes or to attach the frame to the wall with actual screws.
There is some good with the inn: it is extremely well located and the location is nice. The rooms are as clean as possible for being left in high humidity all the time. The provided breakfast is wonderful. Like I said at the beginning, if this place was listed as a 1 or 2-star motel I probably would have had appropriate expectations and wouldn't have been so disappointed that...
Read moreWe stayed at Volcano Inn for 7 days, 6 nights. We definitely appreciated the discount you get if you stay in this lodging for a longer duration. Also, we LOVED the rainforest surroundings and 24 hour hot tubs. The facility itself really is quite beautiful. There are a few caveats to staying in Volcano Inn long term, though. The food options are VERY LIMITED. Volcano Inn does what they call an “Island breakfast,” which consists of a papaya filled with banana and yogurt, banana bread, coffee, and instant oatmeal. There are no other options in Volcano for breakfast and the breakfast at Volcano inn does not ever vary. We appreciated the breakfast; it was good. Every morning they only have one person staffing the breakfast, and they run out of food and coffee quickly if you don’t get there at 0700. Another factor to consider when staying at Volcano Inn is that you’re staying in the rainforest. It is VERY HUMID. And it makes your room very humid. The room has a built in dehumidifier, but you can only run it while you’re there because the electricity doesn’t run unless you have your key plugged in. It also makes the room a lot warmer. As such, expect your books to get warped and your clothes to get musty if they are housed in your room. We only got two bath towels and they were never dry between uses, even when we used the towel warmer in the bathroom. If you’re staying in Volcano, definitely pick the Volcano Inn. Its location is ideal, but Volcano as a town does not merit more than 2-3 days max stay. Volcano Inn is very quaint, but a long term stay there will pose...
