The general manager, Justin Combs, encouraged me to give this rating. My sister and I stayed at the Hampton in Hazard for several days during October and early November. The hotel was close to the hospital, and we hoped, because it was a Hilton, it would be nice. My sister, had booked several nights. During the last week, she was made to move her room 3 times-one time, in particular, to the exact same type of room. We just scratched our head. Each time, she checked out at 11, took her bag to her car in the parking lot, and rechecked in by 3PM. We didn't say anything at the time and despite these kind of mistakes (which would have never happened nor have they at any other Hilton I have been in or decent hotel for that matter) everyone had been very nice, decent breakfast, yes- the clocks were all wrong in every single of the many rooms we stayed in because we were constantly moved, the pillows were flat as pancakes, the towels scratchy and not sufficient, and the shampoo and soap bottles always empty, but no one had been rude. ( And if no one had been rude, I would have kept all of these true facts to myself. )So before I left, I went up to the front desk to be nice and let them know about the rooms-not wanting anything and assuming they had committed some unaware clueless and honest mistakes. The young woman was nice enough and got the very young "general manager." I approached him calmly and he continued to escalate things and be combative, explaining how it is completely normal to play musical rooms like that while in a hotel. It was honestly something I have never witnessed. We only wanted a, "I am so sorry; I didn't realize." He told me his name was "Justin Combs" and encouraged me to leave him a poor review. So until more training occurs, I would go to the Holiday Express down...
Read moreThis was my second time staying at this location. I found it to be very much as most Hampton properties. The staff was friendly and helpful. As for the breakfast, it was a little lacking. The biscuits were very hard (even the microwave couldn't soften them up). As with most Hampton breakfast, powdered eggs and a very lacking selection breakfast offerings. The room was average. Nothing special, nothing terrible. I will say that the hotel cleaning staff needs to actually put the toilet brush back into the drainage whole to remove the build up there (other than that it was clean, it may be I was just a little picky, but it is not adding any extra time to do that as you are scrubbing the inside anyway). The water pressure was fine for the shower (I had plenty of hot water as well). The bathroom sink was slow to drain, which I did tell the front staff about when I checked out. One thing I will point out is that the room I stayed in still had carpet. I know a lot of the properties have been converting to a different type of flooring. The carpet was not dirty, but after so many carpet cleanings, it just has a funky feel to it, almost sticky and damp (I just kept my flip flops on and near the bed). The beds were comfortable and I was able to sleep fine. On thing to point out, is that like with all properties now, they have done away with curtains. It is just the roll down blind. This does not prevent outside light from coming in around the windows. The location is good. It shares the local grocery store parking lot. As for accessing restaurants, it is pretty close to several options. It is also very close to...
Read moreI took my mom to her 56 High School reunion in the area and chose to stay at the Hampton Inn in Hazard. First because of Hilton's usual excellence service and hotel. I will say that the check-in was a breeze and Jarrett was really sweet. He did all he could to try and help me out with the few situations that popped up (nothing major or that couldn't be resolved). In our room our microwave didn't function properly, I reported it, of course it was late and didn't ask for an immediate fix. I just used the one downstairs in the breakfast area. As for the rest of the room it was nice and clean. The beds were comfortable. My only complaint was the breakfast. To begin nothing was stocked. I get that the hotel had a lot of people staying, but the area looked to be lacking. The counters had not been wiped down. Food was out of stock and I never saw them bringing more out. The waffle station was a hot mess. The waffles were sticking, because they didn't set the spray out. Not to mention the waffle batter was a little too thick for coming out of the dispenser and for pouring out of the cup. The drink dispenser had the lines crossed or they put the wrong sign over the spigot. I went to apple juice and got strawberry kiwi water. There was not bread for toast, not biscuits and the gravy was like water. They did have eggs and sausage and yogurt. The cereal was empty as well. I did talk with the person inside the breakfast area and they did bring me a...
