I would’ve given 5 stars because I loved the retro look of the room and cleanliness, but I discovered after flying home that I had left three pieces of clothing the day before and when I tried calling, no one would answer. I asked my sister who lives 2 minutes from there if she would call and see if they’d answer. They did and they said they had found the clothing, but it was their policy to throw things away that guests leave behind. She asked if they couldn’t have called to let me know I’d left items there and again they said no that was not their policy. Yet I read a previous review where they went out of their way to return a forgotten cell phone. While I get it, 3 items of clothing aren’t as much as a cell phone, two were brand new and I still wanted them back. I was going to have my sister retrieve them and return them to me with no out of pocket expense for hotel owners. Very disappointed.
UPDATE: SURPRISE! AFTER posting my review, they texted pictures to me the day after the review, of the bags in the dumpster that they retrieved and knew exactly what bags the items were in as they were taking pics. They said they never said that it was their policy to throw out items left behind by guests. However, less than 24 hours of leaving, they in fact did throw the items in the trash. This is very bad business practice to not even call the guest to at least tell them they left the items and let them decide whether the guest wanted to have them sent to their mailing address or to have the hotel throw them out. Read moreRudest manager I have ever talked with any hotel. I talked with the manager today to know about the hotel as I never stayed there before. There was no welcoming approach from him. He started with there is no room available on this Saturday. When I told him your hotel website shows there are room available then he told me yes you can book online. Then I asked about the service and cleanliness in the hotel. He gets so aggressive and told me rudely if you don’t have trust book room in other hotel. When I asked him why you are talking rudely with me he just hung up the call. Honestly speaking I travel lots and I never had experience like talking with angry hotel manager. If you don’t know how to behave with your customer, then better you do something else which are not related to customer service. No matter how good or bad your hotel is I will never stay in a hotel like this where the manager is very rude with their customer. I will never recommend anyone to choose your hotel to stay there. Read moreFound this place on trivago. The price with tax was about 65 for 2 queens. The place is cleaner than most older hotels I've experienced. We did discover someone gad left behind a cigar packet in the desk drawer bUT the room was clean and did NOT have the smell that generally old hotels do. We don't smoke and cannot handle such smoke. The bathroom is small and it is evident from viewing the tub this motel is old. The beds are comfortable. They have it set up that the beds are different. One is hard and the other is soft. Very wise descion. The only complaint I have are the walls are thin. If you're a "light" sleeper and the motel is busy then you WILL hear the surrounding occupants. If you stay here then do yourself a favor and eat at the Southern Belle right across from this place. Their steaks are smoked and grilled. The steak my son ordered was the BEST steak he or I have had and that's says a lot. My son has a picky palet and eats steak regularly. The steaks quality is of one of a very high class resteraunt but they dont charge as you would expect. Easily a $30. Steak but is was under $20.00. Their ranch dressing was very good, homemade taste. The train car is beautiful to view inside. Don't allow the appearance to fool you.
