I along with several other friends have ate here several times in the past years, always had the all you can eat catfish. It has been several months since we ate last, went there this time and the all you can eat catfish is now $17.99, use to be much less around the $13 price range. Ended up getting the 3 piece catfish dinner which is $13.99, and I am hear to tell you the pieces of catfish were right at 1.5" wide and right at 4" long, the smallest catfish fillets I have ever got from a restaurant. The catfish was really really strong tasting almost to a point of not being able to eat it. There were 3 others with me and they had the catfish also and were very disappointed in the high cost for what you get along with the catfish being really strong tasting. Not sure why they increased the prices so much, and the catfish tasting really really strong. Maybe they had a change in management or changed the catfish supplier, something has definitly changed. Used to be a good place to eat on a friday night but none of us will be going back. Guess this may explain why only a few cars were in the parking lot, when in the past several months ago it was always full. If you get a drink with your meal meal it with add $3, my 3 piece catfish and a drink, was $18 and some change, which is way to much for a 3 piece meal. The next night we all went to Warehouse WIlley's in Poteau and had a large ribeye steak and a drink for only 5$ more the the 3 piece dinner and a drink. Food is way over priced. I do give credit to the waitress, the service was great, and also the gumbo, and hush...
Read moreWe took the scenic route back home from Fayetteville, AR and ran across this gem of a cafe in Heavener, OK. Its unique look and crowded parking lot convinced us to turn around and give it a try. Who wouldn’t want to eat in a dining rail car from another era?? Friendly folks were quick to welcome us aboard and settle us in for lunch as though we were family. I chose a steaming roast beef plate and with a delicious brown gravy and smashed taters to follow a trip to a well stocked salad bar. The selections of southern style comfort foods were many and every plate being served around us looked very appetizing. This is one of those small town diners that are getting hard to find as corporate chains dominate the landscape. We’re happy we took the long way home and found the Southern Belle Restaurant beside the tracks in Heavener! My only regret is that I passed on the homemade pie. What a treat that would have been to enjoy at one of the scenic overlooks up the road. … There’s comfort in knowing I can correct that omission when we come...
Read moreRode out from OKC with some biker friends and ate a couple of meals at the Southern Belle over the weekend of 19-20 October. The food was absolutely terrific. Generous portions, well prepared, and tasty to the last bite. Not a single person in our group left anything on the plates. The deserts were to die for! The staff was very friendly and on the job. We never had to ask for anything. This converted train car is a real treat to visit and more than worth the drive from anywhere to dine. Make sure to ask the staff to see the photo albums of the history of the railroad car. Interesting story for sure.
Thanks to the entire staff for a very...
