Sugar Creek Inn — Hotel in Henderson

I'm writing this review as we are pulling away after being refunded our money and asked to leave.... We were looking for something cheap, but decent, and not soon after our arrival we realized cheap is about the only positive thing you can say about this. Wore out from 3 days of travel and little sleep, honestly I didn't care how "fancy" the place was. First off the nightstand was broken and leaning to the side as well as the bed leaning so the foot of the bed was obviously elevated, and trust me, it wasn't craftmatic ! I had my fiancé call the front, or attempt to rather because you could not connect to the front desk from the room phone (funny thing though, they were able to call us on that phone 😉) I wanted to make sure they knew about the furniture so we would not be charged for damages. It took us awhile to get our things settled into the room, and from inside the room you could hear a lot of noise from the outside... Apparently the side of the hotel they put us on was the side where many patrons are actually tennents and pay weekly rent. Now mind u, its 4 days till Christmas and about 34degrees outside, there are kids running up and down stairs with no shoes/socks on, a man was having a cookout in the parking lot and as my fiancé was walking in to the room a young guy asked him for a light for his blunt.... And yes even with all this going on, I didn't care, I had 12 hrs of sleep in 4 days and all I wanted was a shower and to rest. While he went to get food I took a shower... Well it was almost like a bath because the tub drain had to be manually held with my big toe so I could shower and not swim.... There was a perfectly round hole in the shower by the faucet that made me feel like at some point it was used to record people in the shower.... NASTY!! But hey the water pressure sounded like niagra falls and felt pretty good! We had already decided we were not gonna even look under the covers and stretched out on the bed, flipped the TV on only to discover it had NO SOUND.... Well guess what? I couldn't take anymore... Had to call the front desk on my cellphone to complain, and all the girl could talk about was the fact that we checked in at 4 and now it's 6 and so they can't give us a refund. I told her it has taken 2 hours to find all the crap that was wrong with it... She sent her manager, the owner "Mike" who said I'll refund your money.... I'm still so upset I can't even remember everything he said, because I was appalled by the fact that he said " so u guys go ahead and leave now" like WE had done something wrong??? ARE U FREAKING KIDDING me?? I left in tears from exhaustion... You should NEVER treat people like this..... Hell all I wanted was a TV with sound and was treated like like I had done something wrong... The desk girl said this to me ||"lots of people have stayed there and never complained".... Well sister, don't know what to tell you about that but this hotel and staff need some education on business etiquette!! You should at least try to make things right with the people who are giving you business... Yes he refunded our $49.99 but basically said "heres your money, now get the hell out!" Not in so many words but honestly he might as well have said that! He said "your getting your money back, why should you get to stay?" Like we were begging him to stay? We just felt like the whole situation was mishandled and asinine ! Can't believe it just happened! Merry Christmas Mike! Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday! We're at motel6.... I like to point out positives along with negatives but unfortunately the negatives out weigh the positives on this place. Price was low, positive. The first staff person we met was very nice but the night shift person was high or something--place wreaked of marijuana. Our room smelled like a combination of stale cigarettes, cigars, and marijuana..and a faint spell of urine. There was a hole in the shower wall which was really creepy, but the bathroom looked clean. The bed sheets (I was told by a family member that they heard the place had beg bugs so I should check) so I checked...no bugs but the sheets and pillow cases felt like sandpaper! We didn't even unpack the car...the other tenants walking around the area were enough to keep us from staying...the smell of marijuana and other toxic smells were too much. At first the woman at the front desk said she didn't know how to do a refund. My husband pointed out the strong smell of marijuana and I chimed in that the office smelled like MJ too and she promptly called "Mike" and he walked her through the refund. We went down the road and paid more but at least it was clean and didn't smell. I think we killed her...

Had to spend a couple nights here when my power went out because of the snow and ice. Room was clean from what I could see & didn’t have an Oder like most hotels. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Really the only complaints I have are minor and just my opinion; I think the TVs are a bit too small & it got loud once or twice but there’s bad and good people everywhere you go so I do not blame this hotel. Only other complaint is the decor is super outdated. Bed was comfy, heat worked great, & my room was pretty spacious. I don’t feel like I was ripped off by this place, I’d come back if I needed to. & the prices is good compared to others I...
