We stayed eight people for two nights for a getaway micro-wedding, and we were blown away. We've all travelled a lot in the past, and stayed at B&Bs in places like rural Britain, southern france and western vietnam. In terms of the B&B itself, the food and the hospitality, this blew them all out of the water. One of our guests quipped "they must not know what a B&B is, because this is nothing like any B&B I've ever stayed at!".
The rooms are comfortable, cozy, well equipped and clean. Most rooms are quite small, but this just augments the feeling of small scale comfort.
The breakfasts were exceptional and very fun - every dish felt like someone who truly loves to cook and to innovate with food had put their utmost into it.
The wedding dinner likewise - innovative and delicious. Pairing the dishes with wine from the local vineyards added a further layer of charm.
The ceremony was set up in the grass under a black walnut tree, and was about as romantic as we could have imagined it to be. Adrian was very accommodating in helping us set up just how we wanted, and understanding as we did last minute changes to the itinerary.
Speaking of setting up how we wanted, Alpenhorn offers no small buffets of beautiful places fit to have a wedding - but that you as a guest here can enjoy any day. From the shade under the walnut tree, to the grape plantation or the wine cellar, Alpenhorn offers a plethora of spaces to just breathe in.
All in all, I cannot recommend Alpenhorn enough. They gave us the weekend of our lives, and we will be returning as soon as we can come up with an excuse...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I booked the Alpenhorn Guesthouse Dinner although we did not stay at this B&B. The atmosphere is warm, romantic and magical. The food is absolutely mouth watering and they have a Nespresso machine for the best after dinner espresso!
It's very similar to a pop-up or underground type of dinner. They only have one seating time, the menu is pre-fixe, very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Chef Kate is self taught, although you would never know unless you've had the pleasure of chatting with her in the kitchen. She can accommodate special dietary restrictions such as gluten free or vegan, amazingly so, I might add.
The service was nice, the speed of the coursing was perfect, we never felt rushed. The wine selection was good as well and the vegan mushroom appetizer was to die for - even better than the regular app on my plate!
On our next visit to Hermann we will most likely book this B&B just to try...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of staying at Alpenhorn twice while in Hermann on business, and it is always a very relaxing respite from my work ! Their attention to detail both in terms of providing everything you need or want to keeping the facilities and grounds immaculately groomed and beautifully landscaped. On my most recent visit, I knew I was going to arrive very late, after 10pm, and I called ahead to let them know, and Adrian very graciously made sure the lights were on in my room, I could get a glass of good wine to relax, and they placed a breakfast bowl in my refrigerator for me since I had to be up and gone early the next morning. I look forward to many more visits to Kate and Adrian's Alpenhorn Gasthaus in the future as it is my "go to" place to stay and eat in Hermann, MO, even if I'm just passing...
