I really donât like having to do reviews like this one, but I have always tried to honestly describe my experience so others can make an educated choice when making a decision on where to stay. This was our first time to stay at a Sleep Inn, and the first at a Choice Hotel property. What we encountered was certainly not what we expected. The hotel didnât appear to have many guests. The other hotels in the area all had full parking lots, but this one never had more than a few cars that we observed the night and morning we were there. ||||Walking to the hotel entry should have been a clue that this stay was going to be interesting. The sliding door was broken, and the sign said pull to open. To the right of the sign on the same door was a notice to push here. Okay, which one is it? Once we figured out how to open the door we went to the front desk. ||||We thought no one heard us come in and were looking for a bell or something when finally a young woman came around the corner. She did not greet us at all. In fact, she seemed like she would have preferred to be anywhere but behind that desk. I gave her my name, and the first thing she said was that the elevator was broken and we would be on an upper floor. I said we couldnât carry our luggage up the flights of stairs, and asked if she would move us to the first floor. She said there were no rooms.||||Then said she only had one room she could give us on the first floor, but since it had a Jacuzzi we would need to pay extra. I explained that we would not pay anything extra, that we had a prepaid reservation booked through Choice Hotelâs website. We expected a room at the price we paid since it was not our fault that the hotel failed to notify us about the broken elevator. I explained had we known in advance about the elevator we would have selected a different hotel. ||||She then asked me if we had booked online to which I replied yes, and then she told us that was the problem. She informed me that I should have I called the hotel directly to make my reservation, because then they would have told us the elevator was broken. Having traveled extensively during my career I have never had issues with booking online. In fact, for many businesses it is the only way to reserve hotel accommodations. So, I told her it still wasnât my problem but she was adamant that we were at fault. ||||I then mentioned that as a couple of âoldâ people we couldnât safely carry our luggage up several flights of stairs. Oh, but she had the answer to that, too. She told us that other old people had been able to do it, so we should be able to handle it as well! I found it very difficult to hold my tongue at that point, but I did say that the hotel was creating a liability issue for guests. She just smirked. As I was about to demand our money back so we could go elsewhere, she managed to find us a room on the first floor. Surprise. ||||On the positive side, our room was comfortable and clean. The housekeeper did a great job. Breakfast was excellent, and the breakfast attendant kept everything fresh and well-stocked. Kudos to both employees.||||Unfortunately, the positives simply canât outweigh the negatives on this property, so I cannot recommend this location to anyone. There are multiple other hotels in the same area and I will suggest any one of them before reserving...
Read moreI booked this hotel online and planned to stay for a 2 week quarantine before moving in with high risk relatives and starting a new job. I also had my dog, I called in advance to make sure it was ok, they said yes but didnât mention a DAILYL FEE of $20!!!!
Covid precautions: There are none. ZERO. The staff doesnât wear masks. Not the front desk folks, not the food handling, not the cleaning staff, not the guests unless they choose to as itâs not enforced. They claim they clean yada yada, yeah but NO ONE wears a MASK!!!
Customer Service: I booked a king, they provided a room with two beds. The unmasked wonder didnât mention this, I discovered it after checking out the room before getting luggage. Even wearing two masks, I almost passed out from the terrible stench. I told the woman at the front desk my issues with the room: not what I booked and the odor. She immediately got defensive and offered to cancel the reservation. I should have let her.
Instead, because she claimed they were the only ones with a pet policy, I stayed.
Cleanliness/Comfort: I purchased three wick-less/gel candles to get through the stay. Didnât let anyone clean the room and did the best I could to avoid everyone. I only stayed 9 days. The room had so many stains: on the carpet, bench seat, desk chair, lounge chair, light on/off switch, there was an overall grimy feel.
I will say the shower and beds felt clean, thank goodness. Also, occasionally I would put my trash out to get emptied and the staff was prompt and accommodating.
WiFi: There is no internet service. They provide a password as if they have a secured network: nope. Just a free for everyone but never working WiFi. Used my phone as a hot spot the entire time.
Breakfast: I took advantage of the breakfast, minus the safety factor I thought it was great. There are lots of food options and the coffee is good.
Billing: I was charged five days into the stay. Already had a credit card bill before checking out, didnât know that was possible/ethical/legal. When I checked out after the 9th day the lobby staff couldnât figure out what the deal was, kept referring to the GM đ. I left without knowing what I would be charged. I got an itemized email with elevated rates. I didnât even get one full weekly rate. At five days was charged the full two weeks worth of pet fees. I called to have it explained and it was clear they tried to charge me as much as possible. No explanation for why I was charged already for five days. Not worth my breath to explain to the âGMâ that heâs not good at his job. Glad the maskless oilfield workers fill the rooms, that seems to be the only customers he...
Read moreWe checked in this motel and my husband and kids went swimming with a rubber pool ball that had water and glitter in it and it popped in their pool. I was asleep in the room after the long trip. The GM came up to the room and woke me up stating to give him $1000 at that moment because he would have to have it professionally cleaned. Understandable but I did not have $1000 at the moment. He screamed at me to come look at it which I put on my shoes and went down there to look at it. I again told him I did not have the $1000 he then told me i had 5 minutes to get out his motel. I followed him to the front desk to be checked out. I told them that what they were doing was extortion. They would not give me my points or money back either. I told them I would report them to Choice Hotel and give them a bad review. My 13 and 9 year old was standing there the whole time. I walked to the elevator to go to my room to collect my stuff. As I was standing at the elevator the GM wife came out yelling at me and jumped at me violently like she was about to hit. I know it was caught on camera but when I reported their actions to Choice Hotel they would not release the video proof of their actions. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! They will steal your money. I should of known thos was not a good place. The last time I stayed there their whole family was there and we couldn't eat breakfast because there wasn't any food or a place to sit. They are horrible people and karma will find them one day.
I never said my kids were unattended. My husband was with them. You will be contacted by an attourney in the future. I have already talked to the authorities myself be cause extortion is illegal which you never contacted. I am also contacting the BBB. I never spoke to you out of tone and never called you out your name. I look forward to proving my innocence in this experience once the video is requested by the attorney. The manner in which you handled the situation was completely unprofessional and the comment you just made just proved your ignorance in customer service. Have a blessed day. I'll...
