I realize a wedding booking is a big undertaking. We had problems from the very beginning but because of limited options, we tried to shoulder through. If booking for a block of rooms, make sure the manger does it and understands exactly what you want. We were told that we would get confirmation numbers and never did. When we called to get the confirmation numbers, I was told I didn't have a reservation. When speaking with the manager, I was told I had one room but did not have the two that I had reserved. She was accommodating and booked us another room with the discounted rate. The day everyone was checking in, problems started. Some were told they didn't have rooms, others were told they had it for one night and would have to switch rooms to stay a second night. Because I had talked to the manager just a week before, I assumed I had the rooms for 2 nights. The morning after the first night, my party was told to vacate the rooms. When I talked to the front desk I told her I had talked to the manager who had told me I had the rooms for 2 nights. Then my party was called by the manager and told that if we didn't vacate, we would be escorted off the premises. This all happened as the bride and bridal party were getting ready. I called the general manager who listened, talked to her staff, and told me I had to move to another hotel. She did pay for my rooms at another hotel in town. Later that day, others in our wedding party had their keys disabled and told to vacate even though they had talked to the front desk that morning and did what was needed to keep their room. The last straw of this nightmare was when the bride was telling me goodbye and started to tear up because the hotel couldn't find their reservation. They worked it out with the groom's parents but so sad it had to happen. The hotel was very nice and clean but we were so disappointed with the service. Because of this, I will not be recommending to stay...
Read moreMy elderly parents stayed here at the Cobblestone Inn in Holdrege, Nebraska and needed to catch a train at 2:30am one mile from this location. When we checked them in, in the early afternoon the lady at the front desk assured us that she would work out a ride for them. We returned around 5:30pm to drop them off so they could get some sleep before their 2:30am departure. We live quite far from here which is why we had them get a hotel in the first place. When we went in to drop them off I went to check with the lady at the front desk to confirm that the ride was in place. She had no idea what I was talking about and said that no one had told her anything about this and that they had no way of giving them a ride. I asked to speak with the manager who just gave me a long spiel about how they couldn't help us out as they didn't have insurance for their cars that covered guests. I let him know that I was very shocked that they were okay with allowing an 80 year old couple to walk a mile at 2:00 a.m. with a bunch of luggage. He didn't seem to care at all. Hotels are supposed to be in the hospitality business but they don't seem to understand that at the Cobblestone Inn. I called their 1-800 customer service number and was informed that someone could get back to me in 24 to 36 hours. I explained to them that we needed to arrange transportation for tonight but she just repeated the same line about 24 to 36 hours. Worst customer service ever! You would think that in a town with no taxi or Uber service that a hotel would have a courtesy vehicle available for its patrons. Midwest hospitality at...
Read moreWe stopped on our way from Minnesota to the Rockies. The only room available were 2 queen beds. It wasn’t too bad, we made it work. The hotel was clean, as were our rooms. It very much a no-frills hotel. But we slept well and were refreshed enough to start the day driving again. I’m not sure the air in our room worked. We were very hot the whole night. It was raining and very humid. So the room was quite humid as well. At check in They were not friendly, helpful or much for customer service. However, the morning crew seemed much better. No one was at the check out desk when we left, we waited a while & finally just left the room key cards.
Breakfast was very bleak. We arrived to eat at 9:20am. They had 2 types of cold cereal and yogurt. Lots of Texas toast, but no regular bread to toast. They had one bagel left, but it was partially unwrapped and the corner was very dried out. My son tried to eat it. One of my other children had a waffle, but no batter left to make another. They did have the option of an egg that had been thawed, the like you get Freon Costco with cheese in middle folded in half. We saw people with sausage, but it was gone by the time we arrived to eat. The coffee was wonderful! I enjoyed it the most. Several groups that came after us to eat, found pretty much only egg & cold cereal and left to eat elsewhere. I didn’t see anyone to stock the food, refill, or replenish the breakfast. I guess get up early, and...
