Traveled to Daytona to play at Pictona and chose this B & B for its proximity to Pictona. I have never been a huge fan of B & B's but I thought it was worth a try. The main area of the Inn is very cluttered and dark. Although my room was clean there were decorative objects on most flat surfaces and I had to clear off the table tops to have room for my things. The bathroom has a pedestal sink and very low and old commode so be prepared for that. The doorknob (old crystal type) fell off and I could not get out of the bathroom until I shouted out to my traveling companion. |I will say my bed was very comfortable but my companion's was not. |In the hallway upstairs is a very small refrigerator and coffee station. The coffee maker was prepared the night before by a staff member. There was also a Keurig but not only did it not work but it did not look clean and the fridge did not have water in it to put in Keurig.|On our last night, upon returning from dinner, we noticed that the coffee pot was missing and not prepared for the next morning. I assumed it would be ready when I woke up.|The next morning still no coffee. I wake early and always want coffee first thing. I had no reason to think coffee would not be available since it had been the previous 2 mornings. I wandered into the downstairs main area but it was dark and I could not find the light switches. I looked for another coffee station but could not find one. Finally at 7AM I drove to a 7/11 and purchased coffee.|At BAREl Minimum I expect coffee, water and ice. The only ice available during our stay (that we knew of) was a bag in a fridge in the kitchen that must have melted and refrozen as there was no loose ice to get out of the bag.|Finally at 7;40 AM or so I heard someone in the kitchen and when I went to complain about the lack of coffee I was told that there was a Keurig in another room I was welcome to use. That would have been nice to have been told that when we checked in. Mary, the host, knew we were very displeased that we had to drive out to get coffee and yet there was no apology or explanation. We were just ignored.|Save yourself the hassle and go stay somewhere that offers at least the bare minimum ~...
Read moreWe stayed for a quick overnight as we were driving through. Evidently the Daytona 500 prep and race is going so hotels in the area were booked. It had been a while since I stayed in a BnB and I am aware they can be enjoyed based on personal taste. It is rather dark downstairs and it is cluttered. I think that is part of the atmosphere. The owners were gone for a funeral when we arrived. She called us the day before to get our information and make sure we knew how to get in and what to expect. I appreciated that. Breakfast and coffee were served as we were told it would be. We thought the food was fine but not great. The potatoes were greasy, bacon was overdone and cold, and the cinnamon buns not fully cooked. None of it was inedible just not delicious. But again the owners were gone for an unexpected trip. Coffee and water were available in the hall outside the rooms. There was even a complementary bottle of wine, which was a nice touch.||What was not acceptable was the bathroom. There was a used towel on a hook and a used washcloth hanging in the tub. The toilet sanitation strip was on the floor. There was also debris on the bathroom floor. It was late when we arrived and we had to let ourselves in so we dealt with it. But I will tell you it caused me to look closely at the sheets. The bed was clean. It was as if someone got called away mid-cleaning and didn’t do the bathroom. All of this I could say was a once off, but there were also huge dust bunnies stuck to the towel stand across from the toilet and all along the tile baseboards in the bathroom, enough that I would have noticed even if not for the towels. The person in charge in the morning apologized and offered to go and get the used towels but we were on our way out at that point.||Finally looking at pictures posted by other people, my guess is the room matters. The room at the back of the house was not nearly as nice as the pictures shown of the room at the front. Overall an interesting stay. I am not sure I would...
