Otter Beach Lodges — Hotel in Homer

First the positives. You will be hard pressed to get a better view of Katchamak Bay. We were in Unit 702 and the views of bay/mountains were breathtakingly gorgeous. The unit was large/spacious and had 3 chairs (should have been more given the size of unit) on an outdoor deck.||||On the negative side, it was very hot in Homer during our stay and the unit does not have AC, so the unit was hot/stuffy during most of our stay, with temps Inside in the 76-80 degree range.||||OBL management advised us to open all the windows (we did) and to use the one portable fan (seemed like one fan for a 3 floor unit was not enough). When we asked for more fans, we were informed that all fans were in use in other units.||||Additionally, the one portable fan that was provided was filthy and covered in dust. It clearly had not been cleaned in months. The ceiling fans in both bedrooms contained a thick, disgusting line of dirt/dust on every blade, forcing us to clean them to make them usable. This level of dirt and dust obviously raises questions about the housekeeping services in the rest of the unit.||||On the last day of our stay when temps dropped back in the 50s, OBL management called to let us know they had extra fans they could bring to the unit (when they were no longer needed).||||At $675/night, guests shouldn’t be forced to perform housekeeping services to make the unit clean and 1 portable fan for a 3 story unit is inadequate. Our interactions with OBL management were not productive.||||But the view...

We rented one of these condos after a cruise. Nothing could have been more relaxing for a winding down period after our cruise. The kitchen was minimally stocked, but did have everything needed for our short stay. They were quick to answer our needs and very pleasant. Although not fancy, it was clean and comfortable. Wifi provided along with DirecTV. A driveway for parking your car was also a plus. The area is the main draw, located at the end of Homer Spit Road. So peaceful watching the fishing boats going in and out for a day of fishing, the otters swimming around and the view, oh yes, the view! You have a private back porch furnished with a couch, two chairs and a coffee table. Perfect for watching the world pass by with a glass of wine or cup of coffee. we stayed at suite 715 which was on the 2nd floor. it was a two-story suite with three rooms and three baths. Two of those rooms have an ocean view and the other one has no view. The suite was clean, beautiful and well maintained. The view of the ocean was Espectacular. we had a nice Trace with some chairs too. it was a true luxury unit. The kitchen was well stocked and since we caught some fish in Homer, we really enjoyed our time cooking and dining at the home.
