updated* I added a screen shot of the original reply from the company and added a couple videos of that day** I’ve wanted to post this for a while now... They should have known better and canceled the bear viewing (Joker) August 6th, 2024, do to very rough waters. And I mean very rough. Our captain Jimmy even said it was the roughest water he has seen in 4 years. We were air born and slamming down after a lot of waves. The water was coming from every direction. Especially after the crew said they didn't even want to be on that water. So why did they still proceed with the tour and not turn around? Put people's lives in danger? Plus, if you feel like puking, why would you go out on the deck in rough waters with an elderly gentleman? It was also raining that day, which made the deck even more slippery. That gentleman fell and got hurt. He had bruises on his stomach and his knee. He could have easily gone over board. That's a safety concern! They should have puke bags or buckets inside the cab for that. Also, the board they set down to get off the boat on land (in the national park) was a piece of plywood with sketchy wood running down both sides. The guy in front of me stepped on it and it broke, he stayed on his feet but was in the water. He could have gotten hurt. they tried to continue to use the broken board, but most people, including myself, opted to just get soaked feet. Also, the boat never slowed down to see the sea animals like it says it would in the description, probably because the water was too rough to slow down, which again we shouldn't have been on. Yes, my travel agency contacted this company, and the company told the travel agency pretty much that the series of events were untrue. The travel agency that I went through has never booked with them, but I pushed to go on the tour because all prior reviews were great. I would not recommend this company for bear viewing. I think it would have been great if they put safety first over the ol mighty dollar. And if they would own up to the safety concerns instend of denying them. I think they have potential, but the crew is so young, they need...
Read moreProfessionals that got us incredible, up-close views of bears in Chinitna Bay. We went on the Casino captioned by Gabe. Britt was a pro guide who was out on shore with us amongst the bears. Got some super up close experiences with juveniles, plus a mother and cubs within 30 yds of the boat. Saw a female and big male fighting on shore as we sat 30-40 yds away on the boat as well.
Boat is a very solid, clean, working boat comfortable inside for the 2.5 hr ride across the bay. If you have never traveled across open water in a smaller boat for fishing, etc, and are prone to motion sickness then I don't recommend.
But if you've been out on open water before then this trip is amazing. It costs way less than the trips by plane, and the boats let you get in closer to some of the animals because you're not on...
Read moreWhat a great trip! On the short ride over we were able to view a couple pods of Orcas with one going right under our boat! The boat was large, warm and cozy and our tour guides were amazing. We must have seen at least 10 bears at a comfortable distance but still get some great close up pictures. Would...
