After many years of enjoying Tribesman, we learned last year that it had been sold. Last year 2021 wasn’t too bad, most of the things in our unit were the same as before. We missed the personal touch of Gayle and Arno but things were OK.||||By this year there were many changes. About two months before our stay we were informed that our unit was no longer available and we being moved to another unit. Although the unit could sleep our entire group using sofa beds, we decided to expand into a second unit. Like many of the properties in the area the management was handled by absentee management companies that do not have the personal interest that real people have. And like most of these management companies they add a “Resort Fee” to their quoted prices. Instead of going to the office and picking up our keys upon arrival, we received an email with the combination number for our door. Another way to reduce cost to the management company.||||Upon arrival Friday evening, we noticed the curtain for the back door window was broken and sitting next to the door. A minor problem, in the old days we would have run by the office in the morning and reported it and we planned to do it this year. Then we started to notice other problems. Smoke detectors that looked like the batteries had been removed. Wallpaper starting to peel of the walls upstairs. As we got ready for bed, our daughter called to us to come to her room. When she turned down her bed, she found a pair of men's underwear flattened between the sheets. At that point we realized reporting things to the office in the morning would be a waste of time.||||On Sunday morning we noticed workers in front of our unit working with pipes running underground in front of our unit. We didn’t think much of it at the time. We ran out of paper towels in the kitchen and took the spare roll from under the sink, black and moldy completely unusable. I guess there had been a sink leak and the roll got wet and never replaced. Again a minor problem but another indication of management apathy. That evening when walking around the property we noticed a lot of water running across the road in front of the other unit we had rented. Again we didn’t think much about it. Later that evening the other part of our group called to let us know their bathroom and strong noxious odor when they tried to use the shower. Apparently there was some kind of sewer problem, but no attempt was made to notify us there could be a problem.||||At the old Tribesman one of owner's pet peeves were customers who found a problem in their unit and instead of reporting it so it could be fixed, just left and wrote a bad review because something didn't work correctly. So we stopped at the office before leaving to let them know we were out of our unit. When we walked in, a lady came from the back to see what we wanted. We told her we were out of our units, she didn't care. Then we told her the problems in our units. She just nodded her head, took no notes to have the problems fixed, offered no apologies. Nobody cares.||||What a difference from the review I wrote in 2016. ...
Read moreWe love the location!! We have stayed here before years ago when our kids were alot younger so we kind of knew the layout. We love Indian Point! They let is bring 3 dogs which was awesome and very accommodating for us. Our A/C was actually amazing. Super hot week and we stayed nice and cool when we slept. I seen someone mention about excessive texts. I dont mind that and actually welcome that as it got us excited for the trip and kept us well informed. We rented a boat slip while there and while boat dock 2 was quite rough as the cove has no “no wake” bouys at the entrance (most likely The Tribesman has no control over this), they let us move our boat to dock 1 which was much smoother and was very nice for them to do that for us. The cabin updates are decent and definitely make a difference. The beds were actually pretty comfortable. We didn't use the pool or much of the other accommodations but we did use the very nice washers and dryers to wash some clothes that are free to use if you are staying at the resort. The game room in the same building is very nice with a nice assortment of different games. A very comfortable place to be while doing laundry. The cabin was well stocked with most things you will probably need for cooking along with a BBQ grill outside. If I had to complain about anything it would be maybe the cabin could have been a little bit cleaner. It wasn't filthy or anything but if you looked in the cracks and crevices it wasn't the cleanest. The water does have kinda a rotten eggy smell to it but that isn't the first time we’ve experienced that at Tablerock and its probably something with the minerals in the ground. Probably the worst thing about the place, at least by the Cabins we stayed in, was the outdoor landscaping. I know they put alot of money in the place already but i feel like some cheap and not very labor intensive things could be done just to tidy up the place. There are big nails hanging out of landscape timbers and old non working lights with random wires hanging out of them nailed to the trees. An old concrete shuffleboard area that is all busted up. Just some little things to snazz it up. Maybe some trail maintenance as well. There are some nice trails leading to the dock and whatnot that have logs and piles of rock in the middle of them. Anyways, all in all we had a great experience. Definitely go here if you like the more “campy” old school places we stayed at years ago. (Think Dirty Dancing.) These are new owners and they have done alot to upgrade the place in the small amount of time they have owned it. I 100% believe it will only get better with time. The owners seem to be very accommodating and helpful if you need something. Thanks Tribesman! We...
Read moreas another reviewer already stated, this place is fine enough if your intention is to spend 90% of your trip outside of the property in the lake or doing other activities. we stayed here visiting family for the holidays so we spent alot of time inside together playing games and such and it wasn’t the most pleasant experience.
first of all and in my opinion, most importantly, there is definitely some kind of faulty electrical work going on in the kitchen. trying to run the oven, dishwasher, and coffee pot all at once (in different outlets mind you) caused all the kitchen power to flicker on and off. never triggered the breaker switch but obviously something is wrong there and had me worried about an electrical fire.
and speaking of fire, the second and equally dangerous aspect of our stay came when we finally figured out how to get the heat running after freezing for two nights, it kicked on in the middle of the night and filled the entire place with the smell of smoke and burning. I know this is normal if the heat is being turned on for the first time all year but i think its ABNORMAL and A SIGN OF DANGER if the smoke detectors also go off about 10 minutes later. woke up everyone in the house and we all panicked because it truly smelled like the entire place was on fire and obviously smoke was coming from somewhere.
outside of those hazards, the whole place was filthy, the upstairs bedroom wasnt even swept, covered in little plastic hair ties obviously left by a past guest, i hope it was just the previous visitors but who knows. bathroom floors were also filthy, all the corners and baseboards were super grimy and dusty. we were traveling with our 7 week old infant and the first night we arrived, we brought her into the bedroom and turned on the fan and she immediately started sneezing a ton, upon further inspection we realized that the fan hadnt been dusted in probably 6 months. there was easily a cm of dust built up on the blades that our tiny baby was inhaling. absolutely DISGUSTING. bring extra socks so you dont have to walk around on these filthy floors.
some other minor inconveniences, uncomfortable furniture, no dishtowels, terrible water pressure, bathroom soap was out and we couldnt get it fixed because it was a weekend. i would much rather have stayed in a CLEAN hotel and passed on the barely...
