If you're looking for comfort, respite, and great memories...Skip this place because you won't find any of that there.
We checked in pretty late in the night after driving for more than 8 hours. We booked the room based off of the photos and boy were we decieved.
Let's start with the staff, or lack thereof. The poor young lady working the front was very over worked, underpaid, and over stressed. She had the phone ringing constantly, a line of people waiting to talk to her, people waiting to check in, she had to sanitize the pool, plus I'm sure some other duties to attend to as well. She was definitely not friendly or welcoming but under the circumstances I do not blame her for the attitude issues. She needs some help on the desk or at least one other person lending a hand to clean and sanitize the areas people were using in the pool area.
Speaking of the pool, avoid avoid avoid. That strong eye burning smell of chlorine means it is not drained and cleaned regularly like it is supposed to be,, but rather "shocked" and left to turn into people soup. My eyes were burning just being in the lobby, I cant imagine the feeling after being in the pool.
The walk to the room was...a trip itself... you could see and smell water damage all down the hall (at least on the main floor), moldy mildew mixed with cigarette and marijuana smoke isn't exactly definitive of a grand hotel experience. They may say "no smoking" but it is definitely a smoker friendly place. Don't be surprised if you think you smell a skunk in the hallways, it's probably just your neighbor.
Onto the room: Yikes. What an outdated and dark dungeon. Even the curtains being opened do not help you feel like you're on a vacation get away at all. My boyfriend dropped his wallet and while reaching under the bed to grab it,, also pulled out a sanitary pad.. thankfully it was not open but who knows how long it could have been there. The bathroom was...ok... I found a silverfish bug in the tissue box, the shower was not very clean and the handles to the sink were broken. If you pushed the know to the off position it would swing back and the water would keep running.
At night time this hotel seemed to come alive. Noises galore! Dogs barking, people yelling, neighbors windows being banged on...quite entertaining if you can't find anything to watch on the tube. I did not feel safe at all and thankfully my wonderful boyfriend checked us into the Wingate across town. We were supposed to stay three nights but we felt the need to leave asap.
Sorry this is so long to read, but people deserve to know what they are getting into. Do yourself (and your family) a favor and stay somewhere else. Anywhere has to be better than...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for one night for our honeymoon and it was the worse experience that we have ever had! Check in was supposed to be at 3 pm. We got there at 5:20 pm and our room had not been cleaned at all. We had to wait another half hour before we could even get into our room. We had made reservations well over a week prior to our arrival. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANED! Once we got up to our room which was in room 228 I opened the door and flipped on the light switch to which nothing happened. We went on into our room and found a switch that worked to have lighting. We checked out why the lights did not come on only to find that all the lamps and the alarm clock were unplugged. Then later we went to plug in a cell phone charger to find that the outlet did NOT have a cover on it. Thank goodness we didn't have wandering younger children with us. The rest of the night went find. The next morning I woke up to my leg itching really bad. I finally woke up enough to realize that the itching was not just a normal itch. I flipped the sheet back to reveal that there was a little black bug crawling on the sheet. My husband caught it in a hotel cup as proof. He called down to the front desk and explained to the woman that answered what had happened and she told him that she was cleaning up breakfast stuff and that she would not be able to make it up there at that time. He told her that we had caught it in a cup and told her that we could bring it down. When we took it down to the front desk another woman (not the same one my husband talked to) was at the desk and told us that it didn't look like a bedbug but that should would comp us $15 dollars. She never once apologized or anything. When they did take the payment from my card about 3 days later I noticed that they only comped me about $9.00!! There was also trash in the elevator that was there from the time we arrived till the time we left and the floor of the elevator was sticky. When we got back home I tried calling a few different times to talk to the manager and left my name and number because she was not there is what I was told. I still yet have to hear back from her and it has been over a week since our stay!! I will NOT be staying at this hotel again. For the price we paid we can add another 20 bucks and stay at a better hotel. I took pictures of everything as proof and I WILL be notifying different places to let them know of...
Read moreOn the first night my family and I checked in when we got to our room we were very tired and when my husband pulled the blanket back to lay down the pillow moved and a bed bug crawled out of it. We called the front desk because we had our 2 yr old and she said she had to see it to give us another room. So we waited about 5-10 min, she never came. My husband called again and she said she was busy after the fact she said she was coming. So my husband took the bedbug in a paper and took it to the front desk so she could see it. The correct thing would have been to say let me get you another room immediately. We were told that the manager would be in the next day. The second room we got was much cleaner than the first. By the time we saw the manager the following day and my husband explained the service we received on our arrival “Sherri” the manager proceeded to tell my husband to be quiet so she could speak. Really!!! This manager was not only disgusting towards us she was unprofessional. She then stated that she refunded that night however would not give us a receipt proving that she did. I had to get Expedia on the phone and then after wasting over an hour of my time, my husbands time and my 2 yr old daughter she brought a receipt when she could have did that from the start. Every time my husband spoke she stood there with a smile like we were telling her jokes. Nothing we were saying was funny, unprofessional and tried taunting us! The entire hour that we stood there my husband asked her for something in writing that we actually would get a refund, INSTEAD she wrote a note that states “ to whom it may concern there was an issue with supposed bed bug that has not been confirmed by our pest control people. We no longer want guest on property due to fact he was rude and I was told by five different other guests that he was completely rude it has not been on confirmed that they didn’t”, and I can’t understand the rest of her hand writing and she signed it! My God, are you dumb? I’d like to see the video surveillance of any such guests that had complaints? The service provided here is disgusting! I will be contacting the corporate office and moving forward with additional complaints and anything I see fit so no one should ever endure this type of treatment. Im still waiting on my refunds. I came to Indiana on business and it’s sad to see another business would have someone like Sherri run...
