I've been staying here for nearly 4 months off and on, and have gotten a pretty good feel for the place, I think. If I could only say one thing about the Best Western Amador Inn, it would be that there always seems to be something broken. The the rooms, in my experience, have never been at 100%.
The location is cool; Walking distance to historic main street Jackson (and the bars on it).
The continental breakfast was by far the worst part about it: Sometimes it would not be restocked, and left empty from the day before. Expired milk cartons. One morning I went for a serving of scrambled eggs, and when I opened the steam table and the smell hit me in the face, I just about puked. The eggs had a greenish hue , and from the looks of it were either leftover from the day before, or someone cooked a rotten batch. The green eggs incident only happened once luckily, but I still can't bring myself to to eat them again. However the juice machine was finally fixed, so the OJ was no longer room temperature.👍👍 Coming from someone who has worked many years in the culinary field, there were just too many red flags. You're better of taking your room key over to Denny's for 15% off of your meal with them.
Here's a recap, from memory, of my experiences so far.
1st stay, there was no refrigerator in the room.
2nd stay, neither of the lights worked in the bathroom. Their solution was to give my roommate a new lightbulb, so he could change it out himself. Long story short, it Turned out to be an issue with the electrical, so we ended up with a table lamp on the bathroom floor for the duration of our stay. Also the water pressure in this room was nearly non-existent. It took almost 30 minutes to fill the tub for a bath.
3rd stay, the turn table in the microwave was broken, but It still functioned as a microwave, so no biggie. Some of The rails in the refrigerator were missing, making those shelves useless.
4th stay, more missing rails in the fridge, No office chair, poor water pressure, poorly installed showerhead.
I'm sure you're wondering why I keep coming back by now. Unfortunately for me. My employer is the one who decides where I stay. I assure you, if I had a choice, it would be...
Read moreMy friend made a reservation for last weekend (6/11/21 - 6/12/21) for two rooms, one for me and one for her and her partner. When we checked in on Friday afternoon we were informed that the key card programer was out of order and staff would always be available to quickly let us into our rooms, any time, day or night. They also said the repair part would be delivered the next day at 4 pm and all would be well. We were let into our rooms, left our belongings, and headed out to meet some friends for dinner. When we returned, only my friends were let into their room in a timely manner. The key they were using for my room did not work and the person who had the true master key could not be found for nearly an hour. I was not the only person with this issue and the poor woman on the front desk was clearly NOT having a good night. When we headed out the next day to do some sightseeing, I got the day person to check that the correct key was in his possession and suggested that he mark it in some way so other staff members could locate it quickly. When we came back that evening, wonderful André was struggling with another door on the second floor. When he was finally free to take care of me, he did, indeed, have the correct key and, after I mentioned that my door apparently required this other key, he was able to open for me.
This whole situation was extremely inconvenient because, in addition to needing to wait for staff to be available to open our doors, we could not just run up to the lobby, or to the ice machine, or to to get a cup of coffee, without either taking a chance of a delay getting back into our rooms, or leaving the door ajar and risking someone going into our rooms.
The part apparently did arrive some time on Saturday, but no one had scheduled a technician to install it. No idea if they ever got it fixed.
Never at any time during our ordeal was a manager present. This clearly NO way to run a business. The poor staff tried their best and this was NOT their fault. Big thanks to both André and Daniel (day staff person) for their patience and persistence.
Whoever is in charge of this place dropped the ball, big time!
Update - They did give my friend a...
Read moreWe tried to get an early check in, I called the day before and the day of, instead we had a to wait until AFTER the check in time for our room as it "wasn't ready." The breakfast was empty every day at all different times. They stated they were "out" of breakfast items. Not even coffee. We had to ask for toilet paper three times. There was another guest that verbally attacked me and would not leash her aggressive dogs. I called the desk, but it didn't fix the issue. The housekeeping didn't even clean the room or change the sheets. Just left towels. The staff was barely friendly. Like friendly enough to take our money but that's all. They did give us a first floor room that I requested so I that was nice. The room was nice. The beds are comfortable and the linen is clean and in good shape. Plenty of pillows. It's been remodeled in the last two years. The decor is plain or non existent..the water pressure was mediocre. We stayed at this hotel about two years ago and it was so much better. We stayed for a month then and did not encounter ANY issues..but this time, for five days, it was less than enjoyable. Especially for the money. We chose this hotel due to previous experience and it was extremely disappointing.
2 years later, March 2020 Stayed here again, as I had forgotten about my last stay. Not much better this time around. Our room was left unclean, we found dirty socks and I wasn't confident that the sheets were clean. There was no shower curtain, had to ask the front desk for one. We asked to change rooms and were told we couldn't as they didn't have anything available, but 1 hour prior had a choice of two rooms....? None of the outlets actually hold the plugs so we couldn't use the lamp it charge anything. The shampoo/conditioner provided smells good and seems ok for your hair, however the bottles are so tiny that any type of longer hair will require more than one bottle. And bar soap. The beds are relatively comfortable. However, they are inside of mattress protectors that are obviously not regularly washed so that's kind of gross. Breakfast was super delicious and always stocked. Nice improvement! Emma at front desk is very friendly...
