My daughter and I had planned to spend the week at a working Gold mine a short distance from Jackson. It required a specific 9am check in, which meant having time to buy our weeks provisions for our cabin, and Jackson offered everything so we stayed on August 15, 2020. Arriving late we were helped promptly as I was carrying my daughter who had fallen asleep after our day by the ocean. We had landed at SFO, spent a day by the water and then the 3 hour drive to Jackson this stay was perfect. Timely wake up awesome staff especially the gal serving breakfast, and great food. We made it to the local grocery store and we're at the place to be guided into camp with enough time to spare. Sometime after our arrival three fires broke out in the State, and within a day or so the smoke had made the mountain only 30 yds across the river impossible to see. The smoke built to a point where it was dangerous, as my daughter has severe respiratory issues. The smoke rendered her medicine ineffective, and I quickly determined that we could not stay in a cabin with no power for her nebulizer, and only her inhaler's. We were subsequently guided out of camp and my lack of sleep monitoring my daughters breathing the night before made driving to SFO a dangerous option. So I decided that the Holiday Inn express offered a solution for the evening, would allow my daughter to sleep in a semi filtered and cooler room. And it would allow me tike to notify my travel agent and book an immediate flight home to Minnesota. It did offer these things, they provided a room on short notice and we're prompt and courteous, breakfast great. I was happy my daughter felt well enough to eat and I managed an hour of sleep while she ate and watched cartoons. We then left having to drive to San Francisco for an expidited flight back to Minnesota. I had not noticed that a charge to my debit card that afternoon and was not sure where I had been financially overextended paying return flight bag fees, food, fuel, and tolls. After Having already paid once for these things I had not anticipated having to pay them all yet again. Inspecting the financial record of my trip produced one of two sources for the missing funds. One of which was being billled at check in the night before, and again at 1:45 that afternoon as we were traveling to the airport. For our second stay at the hotel. Although when it had occurred I had no time to locate where my budget had gone wrong, and this made navigation of the city of San Francisco, the airport and rental car interactions decidedly more difficult, as I was not sure at what point my card would hit it's limit, possibly stranding us there.
I was unable to source the issue while attempting to get home and have a travel insurance claim beginning for the unused portions of our trip. However, before I add the erroneous charge to the claim I have attempted to have the issue directly resolved by calling ( where the automated system simply hung up on me after a ten minute hold. And by submitting a form which keeps kicking me back to a menu, to begin entering information that I had already filled out. I went back to my email for a confirmation number and I noticed, this survey. And I believe this medium may get someone to call me back so we may resolve the discrepancy. Without the added stresses related to the extra charges, which just excaserbated and already stressful situation, would have provided five stars and a return...
Read moreI travel extensively for business, and I usually like to stay in this brand as I have come to know what to expect and feel comfortable in the hotels. My last experience in this hotel was beyond disgusting, it was unhygienic, inconsiderate and not customer friendly. Upon arrival, I checked in and one of the things I DO check is the filters in the AC units, as the dust left over months of inattention can be horrible, this one was clean so I felt like the housekeeping staff had been doing their job. It was not until I was in the shower the next morning that I noticed a stain on the shower curtain, which, the way it was tucked in and beside the toilet, did not appear obvious until I was fully engaged in my morning shower routine. Upon investigation, it turned out that a previous guest had used the shower curtain in place of toilet paper and left quite a mess between the two layers of the shower curtain, thus masking their deposit until it became moist from the water in MY SHOWER. This is the most disgusting thing I have EVER encountered in a hotel room. I finished my morning routine in the sink (there was no way I was staying in that shower) I then took a short video clip of the evidence. I checked out and showed the young lady at the reception desk the video. She had to be prompted to call the manager who then told her she would not be in until later in the day. I was told the manager would call me later when she came in. It has now been 72 hours and I have not heard anything from the hotel, management or corporate. I do not like leaving bad reviews, especially one of such horrible events, but if this prevents even one more person from having to experience this at that, or any other HIE hotel, then it will be well worth it. If IHG cares to research, I have the raw video available for them to view. For now, this hotel will stay on my "NO GO" list.
Edit: my original review was rejected because I named the brand of the Hotel...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience with this HIE, and we were very surprised by that. We have been HIE members for many years and our stays at HIE in the U.S. and in Europe were always good. We live in the Sacramento area and wanted to spend two quiet days in Jackson during the Thanksgiving holiday. We called ahead to make sure a slightly late arrival (by around 7 p.m.) would be okay and nobody answered the phone, although we called multiple times. Upon arrival, my wife and daughter found the lobby restroom clogged and super dirty (that can happen, of course, but shouldn't). We were not give our preferred upstairs room (in a two-story building) and were sent to a room that had a connecting door to the neighboring room and there was ZERO sound-proofing. We could hear every single word the people said in the next room. (Nice folks, from the sound of it.) We asked for a room with more privacy and quiet and were told there wasn't one. The receptionist was not helpful in any way and was instead focused on planning her shopping trip to Walmart for Black Friday with a friend on the phone. We don't expect to be catered to and served like the "ok, boomer" people we may sound like. We did pay for what we thought would be a nice get-away, and instead got a horrible experience. We were not dependent on the room, since we were not stranded travelers. However, we had to leave and return home because we did not want to be in a situation where we would have overheard EVERYTHING going on in the next room for two days, and be overheard ourselves. We left and could not get a refund, which again, would have been a great gesture as customer service but since it was our own choice to leave.... Oh, the place has a view of parking lots all around. We absolutely hated our experience there. We never ever had anything as miserable in...
