My family and I traveled from Atlanta, GA for our family trip. For months we had been planning to attend Jamez hot springs as I researched every location for our itinerary. We traveled from Albuquerque on the day planned and was immediately turned around and denied service. The lady saw children and specifically my daughter and was shaken her head with denial. We were okay with that. As I expressed. I asked if the children could just go in the back? Like a seating section and she said no it was against the law. As I begin to write our information on the check in board there was another woman in the background saying she didn’t like our energy and they didn’t have to service us. just asked like three questions and no one else in my party said a word. We could have easily swapped out between the adult men and women. We could have managed the situation. They referred us to Spence Hot Springs saying that would be better and child friendly, which wasn’t nothing like Jamez. It didn’t compare. We had to hike to the location and it was just a natural hot springs in the woods on a trail. We experienced a Hot Spring in Colorado so my children didn’t have to do this one. The goal was for my parents to do it as it was my mother in laws birthday and they never experienced it and they denied us from entry. They treated us really bad. And when the lady snatched the board as I was writing I was just shocked. Everything happened so fast. I don’t think we should have been treated that way. The referral should have been compared to where we traveled to and they should have let us handle our children situation. I don’t know what it was and why the young lady treated me like that but no one should have had to experience such behavior especially at a place for peace, quiet and relaxation. The was definitely a first and so disappointing.

In response to the owners response. As stated my children didn’t have to stay it was a question. Also, to turn off the jets was not an option for us. And it was said by the lady who encouraged us to do to the Spence Hot Springs that she didn’t like our give and we didn’t have to be serviced and that’s when the other young lady snatched the board. We would have liked to soak but didn’t get the opportunity to. It was my mother in- law 62nd birthday and my father had a right knee band from pain. The therapeutic space would have been great for them. My children are teens that are capable of...

First of all, the location and pools are absolutely beautiful. That is not the problem here at all.

This review is based solely on the lady at the front desk and their customer service. My gosh. We had 4 soakers and one other person with us. My husband just had an operation, so he wasn’t able to use the pools with us. Anyway, her attitude made everyone in our party extremely uncomfortable. She repeatedly snapped at us at and tapped on the window that we all needed to read the huge list of rules. Which we had zero problem doing, it was just hard to maneuver over the uneven rocks and dirt in the small check in area with two of the elderly people in our group, one of which uses a cane. So we are helping everyone get to the front to read the rules, and there is nobody else in line behind us, and she is huffing and puffing and getting super irritated we are taking so long while we tried to safely move everyone to the front. Then she repeatedly told us very rudely that if we were late coming out after our soak, we would be fined accordingly. Which we obviously had no intention of doing, but it was very off putting to be spoken to like we were stupid.

Also, My husband was just going to wait in the car for an hour while we soaked due to a recent operation he had, he wasn’t able to soak with us. Well he needed the restroom right before we started our soak, due to the long drive up. They wouldn’t let him just to use the restroom and then go back to the car. We still had to pay just for him to go to the bathroom. I fully understand needing to keep your numbers at a reasonable amount, but he literally just needed to pee, and then he was happy to wait in the car while we finished. There were maybe 10 other people there. It’s not like they were busting at the seams. So since we ended up paying for my husband anyway, even though he couldn’t soak, he just hung out in a chair by us. Like I said, the area and pools were wonderful, but the customer service at this place needs serious attention. We have a cabin by Fenton Lake, and I have always wanted to soak here. But after our encounter with the workers here, I don’t think I’ll be back,...

It’s difficult to find exactly where this is located so follow the gps instructions which lead you to the sign on the road. If coming from the south, don’t pull into the parking lot before the sign, instead pull into the small lane after the sign that leads to the bottom of the hill. Park there. The reception area is a bit hidden as well, the third building on the left side at the end. There is a walk up window to sign in and pay entry fees.

You can order refreshments like smoothies and rent towels, swimwear and bath robes. It’s $25 for a one hour stay and you’re not incentivized to stay longer as it’s $50 for the two hour stay. We chose the one hour and found it was just right for us but easily could have stayed and enjoyed two hours. We got in around almost 11am and were a bit worried about getting sunburned as you have to shower before entering and can’t have any sunscreen on. We were relieved to see shaded screens above one of the pools and shaded patio and cabana areas.

There are 4 pools all with slightly different temperatures. The sides and steps were a bit tough to navigate footing. I could see some may need extra support or assistance getting in or out. The atmosphere was very calm and quiet and it’s listed on a sign that this isn’t a recreational area but a serene spa-like environment. This was nice but could have used a touch of calming music also. In some of the pools you can hear the river near by which is very relaxing.

I would describe this as a more rustic do it yourself type spa. You are given minimal instruction and follow signage on how to get to restrooms, showers etc. It’s all pretty self explanatory though. There were about 10 people there when we were at 11AM on a Friday. This is a lovely treat and worth the drive from Albuquerque especially if you go hiking beforehand. Just know that if you’re looking for a luxury spa experience this may not meet your needs. If you enjoy being out in nature, having mountain views and meeting people from all over then this may be for you. It definitely was great for us.

It’s true that it didn’t smell like...

"I recently had the pleasure of staying at and soaking in the Jemez Hot Springs in Jemez, New Mexico, and it was a wonderfully peaceful and calming experience. The hot springs themselves are incredibly therapeutic; an hour soaking literally made me feel like I'd turned back the clock! It's truly a place to de-stress and rejuvenate. I also stayed in one of their guest houses, which was incredibly inviting, spotlessly clean, and beautifully decorated with a charming New Mexico aesthetic. It really added to the overall serene atmosphere of the property. My only minor point for improvement relates to clarity on their website. While it states walk-ins are welcome during business hours, it also hinted that on-property guests might have access to the springs a little longer after public closing. Some clearer information here would be helpful. For anyone planning a visit, my top tip is to stay for two nights if you can, or at least arrive right at check-in time. This will give you the most opportunity to fully enjoy and maximize your time in these amazing hot springs. Highly recommend for a truly relaxing getaway!"
