This place used to be wonderful, but that was years ago. Let me start by saying they refunded me after the experience I had. They do not do a good job cleaning. The first room I went into had a very strong air freshener scent, used Im sure because it's a pet friendly room - however, leave the windows open - it was like PIERCING in my nose. So I opened all the windows, then I look in the AC filter because the smell was so strong - it looked like the filter hadn't been cleaned out in ages, I cleaned both filters out myself FILLED with dirt and dust. By this point I was annoyed and grossed out, the straw that broke the camel's back was I lifted up the toilet lid and there was a bleck dark liquidy spot on the toilet seat. BLECK. SO then I called to change rooms the very nice girl brought up the key for the room next door. No air freshener aroma so that was good, BUT after a minute I could smell BO - I have no idea why/how, it was just near the door a body odor smell, so gross. So, I got my wipes wiped every thing down in the room, every handle, switch, etc. Then, I go to lay on the bed and I see hairs on the sheet - now, granted they might just stick to the sheets in the washing machine, but by this point I was so grossed out -I thought, they could really check the sheets - there were quite a few. THEN I see a dark spot on the pillow THROUGH the pillow case, the spot was either blood or I have no idea what - it was about a three inch circle, so gross. I cut my three nights short and left the next morning. Like I said, they made me whole which I appreciate it but it is such a shame - years ago it was such a beautiful, clean oasis. The last few times it's gone progressively downhill and I will never go back. ...
Read moreWe stayed in room 217. What we didn't know is that it's right above the kitchen/breakfast area. SO, starting at 6:30 am every morning, the swinging doors in between the breakfast area and kitchen are swung open and with the industrial sized hinges make the loudest noise you can imagine. The doors are directly below the king bed in room 217. When I told the front desk employee, and actually walked him over to the door to show him, his critical/problem solving training answer was: "I can ask the employees to walk through the doors more slowly." That's not going to solve the problem. I told him the problem is the hinges and they need to be changed. We didn't sleep either night, especially being woken up so early. He was very nice and credited me back $54.00 on my invoice. To me, this was hardly enough for a bad stay, but I had no energy to argue, so I accepted it. Being from Cape Neddick, now living in DE, we come up often to visit family in the area. So, instead of complaining about the $54.00 credit, we just won't stay here again. Now, my guess is that this description of our stay will fall on deaf ears and nothing will be done about it and the door will never be fixed. It's the state of customer service everywhere now, so it's almost expected. It's a shame because it's close to where our families are and would have been a nice place to stay. Also, not the cleanest property that we've seen, and has weird smells all over, so something should be done about...
Read moreWe had a wonderful check in experience! At the front desk, they made sure to tell us about the bikes for rental, as well as the available beach passes, and also the breakfast in the morning. We were only staying for one night for a wedding, so were unable to take advantage of these amenities, but knowing they were there makes us VERY likely go to back. We also really loved that there was a microwave and a very large refrigerator, and would definitely take advantage of these items on our next stay. Additionally, when we checked in we were given the choice of the floor we wanted to stay on, which was an extra nice touch.
Additionally, cleanliness of a hotel is very important to my husband and I. We travel a fair amount, and were VERY impressed with the cleanliness - in fact, my husband said this may have been the cleanest hotel he has ever stayed in. Little things like having the makeup towel, and the shower being tiled to the ceiling were really impressive to us. Also, the water pressure and how hot the water was in the shower were amazing (as was the shower head). All we wanted to do when we got in from being stuck in traffic for 3 hours was take a shower and get ready for the wedding we were going to, and we were not disappointed. :) The linens were also very clean and comfortable, and I had a wonderful night's sleep. Especially for the price, I was blown away.
I will definitely look to stay at this hotel again, and would urge the staff to keep up the...
