This is one of a very limited number Hilton facilities in and around Kokomo, IN. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the amenities are good and fairly standard for a Hampton Inn. The pool is clean and well kept with seating available around it. The fitness room is quite small, but they've put as much as they can fit in there, even if only 3 pieces of equipment and some weighted balls and yoga mat. I enjoyed a jog on the treadmill without any evening time interruption. The dining and lobby areas are nicely kept with ample seating. My King room was clean and vacuumed (seems to be a rarity in some hotels), and the bathroom was layed-out nicely where one can towel-dry without catching arms and hands on adjacent fixtures. The built-in style desk in the room is also a nice touch. The room has a microwave, fridge, ironing board, and luggage stand. All are appreciated, and I certainly put them to use. The two hydraulic elevators seemed to work quickly, but one needed a mild adjustment on floor height as it was a potential trip hazard, even if only a subtle transition. Regardless, not bad, and still clean. My only challenges during my stay were having to walk through the Marijuana smoke near the front entrance in my 1st evening stay due to the construction crews staying overnight and socializing right out front in the outside foyer/covered entry, and having the scent carry up through the elevator shafts and hallways to my room entry, (not too delightful). The second challenge was the limited parking availability due to some larger vehicles in the parking lot which require more spaces. The parking spaces are located on only one side of the facility. Access to the hotel is only from the northbound traffic lanes as well, but that's a minor issue and unavoidable. The location was quite peaceful and pleasant as the backside (south) of the hotel faces some nice green foliage and presents with some serenity. This location is good for stopping in for local business trip, or passing through. This hotel is also nearly across the street from Kokomo's new Stelantis battery production facility. I would recommend staying on the south side of the hotel and at higher levels. My remaining stay was peaceful and quiet. Would certainly stay here again if back...
Read moreLet me just start off by saying the reservation & confirmation email does NOT let you know that their check in is at 4PM. I was pretty surprised by this especially bc I was in for the night for a wedding that started at that time. Most hotel check in times are at 3PM. This is the first time I’m writing a review simply bc of the service. I walked into the hotel & I greeted the front desk agent who was an older aged woman, greyed hair, & she just wasn’t welcoming at all. When I asked about checking in an hour or so early due to showing up at 230 thinking 3 was the check in time, she firmly stated check in was at 4 & the housekeepers were still cleaning. She did not try to accommodate or even called the housekeepers to check if anything was available. Instead, she just brushed me off & stayed firm with check in being at 4. There was two ladies who came in behind me going to the same wedding, so the same issue occurred for them. I ended up calling another hotel who accommodated my needs and canceled my reservation with the Hampton Inn. I checked my credit card & saw I was still charged even though I did not stay there. Had I known check in time was at 4PM, I would have cancelled a lot sooner. I called in today & spoke with Emma who was much more nice & saved this review from being 1 star. She was helpful & genuine in wanting to help resolve my issue. I’m very grateful for her help! As for the other employee who wasn’t helpful at check in, I hope they give her more training on how to be more welcoming to their customers. First impressions are everything & it’s not a great look when you have someone like the lady at the front desk who wasn’t warm or welcoming. I hope you’ll do...
Read moreI asked at check in why they needed my credit card since I booked online with a third party with my flight, hotel and rental car. I was told for incidentals. I did not know just what type of incidentals they offered, but thought phone calls or internet or something else. Their parking lot was very poor. To get to the hotel off 31 you use a very poor entry and you can't turn left onto 31. Your other choice is winding around other business parking lots to get there. You can not see the hotel from that access. They told me that a $5.00 charge for parking/night x 3. Hampton Inn charged my credit card $65. We were there for a family funeral. My sister used Booking.com and received no parking lot fee. I called hotel and they won't remove the fee and will take several days to remove the rest of the money they overcharged my credit card. This is not a cheap hotel and have never had a large city charge me for their parking lot, let alone Kokomo, Indiana. We are from the area and return to visit family and for funerals and weddings and general visits. I let all my family know about this charge for their future stays. |We were there 3 nights. There was a baseball tournament and lots of noise. Dog barking added to the chaos. We did not ask for room cleaning or towels extra. They ran out of coffee right after breakfast. Our room has only decaf coffee pods. I later found a maid and requested regular coffee pods. We were really minimal customers in our requirements. We ate breakfast only 1 of 3 days. I feel their charges for parking on my credit card were excessive and not really appropriate. I will not stay...
