PRIOR TO ARRIVAL There were multiple contact points prior to our arrival. I was booking 3 rooms for 3 families. At the suggestion of the reservation agent, I booked 3 individual rooms: a Spa Studio 1 king, a Spa Studio 2 queens and 1 bedroom Spa Villa Suite. I explained to the agent that for the Villa Suite I needed some handicap accommodations. Basically, I need a shower chair, adjustable shower & elevated toilet with grab bars. I called multiple times to confirm that these accommodations were doable. the room. No one mentioned stairs to get to the spa studios until about a week prior to our stay.
CHECK IN I upgraded our rooms to “Beat the traffic”. The agent I worked with assured me that we would have early check-in. I called the corporate number to double check. The morning of our visit, I was told that this was not a guarantee. This was not explained properly by anyone I spoke with. Additionally, none of the requested accommodations were in our room when we arrived. HANDICAP PARKING There was no handicap parking near our room. The curb to the parking area is not wheelchair or cane friendly. In order to avoid a dangerous fall, my husband had to leave me sitting in a wheelchair at the curb, & then drive onto the sidewalk to pick me up or let me out. When I inquired about a handicap space, no one seemed to have an answer. Training for the front desk & operators may be helpful.
PROPERTY STAFF Most of the on property staff was very nice. But housekeeping could not understand anything we asked for towels, shower caps etc.
DISABLED ROOM After check in, they finally brought in a shower chair, but no shower mat. This is a huge fall risk for any guest. There are no bars in the shower & the shower head does not come down. The toilet riser was very loose & unsafe to use, & was delivered late. If you sat down the item would move out of place. This is a massive fall hazard. When I made the reservation I explained exactly what I needed in a hotel room; bars by the toilet, raised toilet, a portable shower chair, bars in the shower, but not necessarily an ADA room. We had to wait for shower mats, shower chair and toilet riser with arms. ROOM ISSUE The sofa bed in the room with the Queen beds had bugs. We could not tell if the sheets were clean. We called right away to get new sheets. It took over 1 hour to get sheets. If you have traveled with young children, you know this is a disaster waiting to happen. This type of bedtime delay is a parent’s worst nightmare. You will pay that night & the next day for the lack of sleep & cranky kids. Later in the stay we found bugs in the bathroom of the Villa. This should have been addressed promptly. Although you offered to move us, by that time the kids were asleep. Everyone was tired & grouchy. We continued to find bugs throughout the visit. CLEANLINESS The room was fairly clean in areas that could be cleaned; however, the room was very dated and musty. Your property needs an upgrade. POOLS The pool by our room was freezing! Certainly, not usable, as advertised on the website. DANGEROUS GROUNDS The property is not handicap friendly! Or even safe for a disabled person. The property is very poorly lit & there are many areas with over grown brush & uneven pavement that made it difficult & dangerous to maneuver with a wheelchair or cane. There were multiple areas where a wheelchair could not get by. I sent this in writing to the Director, it is now 9 months later and he has yet to contact me. He keeps saying he wants to connect with me. Any of these areas of concern are fixable I let him know that I preferred to settle the situation directly with the property rather than write a totally negative review. He obviously does not care his...
Read moreI have never had such a horrible experience with a resort in my life! I came with a group of friends as we were all going to relax and enjoy ourselves in the 2 Queen bed pool side casita we had reserved.. or so we thought. As soon as we arrived the person at the entrance and check in were so rude. We brush it off and figured they may be having an off day or so. We check in, and go to our room only to find out they gave us a room with only ONE bed, when we had originally booked 2 beds in one room. We called the front office and informed that we might have received the room by mistake as our reservation stated 2 Queen beds. The person we spoke to was also rude and condescending stating that we should be happy we were assigned this room as they had “upgraded” us to a pool view room with an outdoor patio. We informed them that we did not agree this was an upgrade as we had booked a 2 queen bed for a reason. Now someone in our party will have to sleep on the sofa which is unfair as we were looking forward to a relaxing vacation. Anyway, we inform the front desk and they proceed to tell us that unfortunately they cant give us a 2 queen room due to the fact that they are going through construction and also needed to accommodate a large party and they are all booked up. If this was the case, the hotel should have informed us PRIOR to arriving that they would not be able to accommodate us as they overbooked. They proceeded to try to convince us that this room was nicer and the selling point the guy gave us was that we had a “better view of the stars”. I can see the stars anywhere in the resort, I didn’t need the upgrade nor did we ask for it. After arguing over the phone with the front desk, they told us they could waive the resort fees but there was nothing else they could do and we were basically forced to stay there as they also did not want to refund us so we could book elsewhere where they would be willing to accommodate us. We did not have a relaxing weekend as some of us had to sleep on a hard uncomfortable sofa. Later on our trip, we also experienced rudeness and racism!! We were at the pool trying to at least make the rest of our trip enjoyable and a worker, who was also a man, with a golf cart passes by the pool and it looks like he is selling some food or drinks, I waved and shouted to get his attention in a nice way, he ignored me multiple times! He finally stops and I think great he was able to see me. NOPE, he walks over to a woman and a man and he begins chatting with them meanwhile im still waiting for him to acknowledge me. He continues his conversation and I’m still there waiting for about 20 mins, at that point I decide to give up as he was clearly not going to acknowledge me even though I know he had seen me as he made eye contact with me multiple times. For reference, I am a latina woman and the reason I say I experienced racism is because the man decided to approach the American couple instead . Just like them, I work hard for my money and deserve the same respect. Later on during our stay, the refrigerator in our room broke as well as had to deal with ants at one point in the bathroom. There was no point in informing the staff as they do not care about their guests. Overall for such a “luxury” hotel, you DO NOT get your money’s worth. I would not recommend this hotel, and would never consider going back. I will also be informing my friends and family to never...
Read moreWhat was supposed to be a beautiful weekend in the desert at a “five start resort” turned into 3ish hours of disappointment and hostility. I will say we could have avoided this if I read more reviews, plenty of others with just about the same complaints that we had. My boyfriend and I booked with the hopes of spending a great weekend celebrating our anniversary and when we arrived we were very excited. The property is beautiful and very extensive, and the lobby was beautiful which kept our hopes high, front desk staff were kind and pleasant. We arrived to our casita and were happy with the room, nice and spacious. Upon closer examination the bath robes in our room were stained. (something we were willing to look over in the moment) There was a family in the pool outside of our room when we arrived and we made the mental note to use one of the other pools that were empty a few casitas over for us to enjoy some alone time and give the family space. After getting settled in we changed and walked to an empty pool area. The pool was not clean, leaves and bugs in the water floating around so we moved to the jacuzzi and that too was not the cleanest. After a few minutes of sitting in the jacuzzi I heard an adult voice out of sight yell “shut the hell up”, I don’t think we were being very loud and we even avoided playing music so we wouldn’t disturb the quite environment. And then water balloons started flying at us getting closer then eventually hitting my boyfriend in the face. We grabbed our things and exited the pool area, we were unable to see anyone in the distance, so we just headed back to the room. When getting back to the room the family outside of our room began snickering and laughing, along with suspicious comments to each other ex. “Where were you just now?” “I’ve been here the whole time” and then more laughing. All of this happening in the first few hours of us being there, we couldn’t help but feel extremely uncomfortable and a little unsafe, it seemed almost targeted. We made dinner reservations at a restaurant on the property and decided to go and talk it over at dinner. Walking to the car for dinner we also found water balloons around our car. At the restaurant we also noticed some unsatisfactory elements as well, my silverware was dirty with old food dried on it and the food was just okay expensive for the quality. We decided that maybe this was not the place for us to stay and we were going to go to the front desk and ask for our money back and to check out. In the end we were able to check out with no problem, the staff seemed concerned about what happened. They offered us to move rooms but we just weren’t very impressed with everything else and just the over all vibe was off. This place is for sure not the couples getaway we were hoping for and I don’t think it really met our expectations either way. We just weren’t happy with our overall stay, we checked in just before 3:00 and were checked out at about 6:30. We did manage to get our money back and we decided to stay somewhere else that was a luxurious as...
