Not sure where to start.... Price is reasonable, but that's where it ends. Very much dated motel, has much charm, surprised the owner can keep track of reservations made online.
While he may mean very well for his customers, he should work on his presentation.
Lobby was nice an cozy and inviting... But owner should not greet the customers in a dirty wife beater shirt.
I'm sure there is plenty of history with the place, but it doesn't feel very safe. When the owner starts to ask you questions, it seems friendly at first. But it gets questionable very quickly. He asked who we booked with, what we booked, and when we booked. He had to look it up on his phone for the reservation.
As he showed us the rooms, he told us that he was going to be making some hotdogs on the grill, and that we could join them. He showed us the coffee machine in the lobby, which looked ok... Not much of an coffee drinker, so didn't matter to me that much. He then pointed out the snacks on an nightstand in the hallway...
Rooms where cute, but very dated. Smelled very musky, and looked like they needed some deep cleaning. We had selected the room with the hot tub, to which they had 2 rooms with hot tubs.
After we selected a room, we walked back to the lobby to fill out paperwork. Surprised that they still use papers to keep track of their guests...
He then went to get the key for the room, but was not able to find it. He said that he would find the key and put it in the door for us.
On going back to the room, we found several other issues. Neither door locked, open closet with an random wooden chair (maybe to wedge on of the doors closed?), Stains on the canopy over the bed, bed that felt like it was ready to give out, and a soaked floor. On closing the door, the TV (which he pointed out was WiFi) stopped working. Looking out in the hallway, I saw several WiFi access points laying in the floor by each room. All of the wood paneling in the rooms must be interfering with the signals...
We didn't have any cell service until we went out the back door into the fenced off court yard (numerous stay out signs posted on the wire fence). At that point I was able to book another hotel.
We did not feel safe staying there, and just wanted to leave at that point. As we walked out, the owner was on the backside of the room. He said that he was still looking for our key. We told him that was ok and that we were leaving.
While the owners may mean well, they really need to step back and look at their location and themselves. Not having room keys, let alone rooms that need much work (cleaning, safety, and updating), they also need to show their guests that they do appreciate them as well. Don't greet your guests in dirty clothes for starters. Have a better way to track reservations, guests staying at your location, and...
Read moreThis was a last minute book as the camping festival we are attending got rained out the first day. This was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The decor was cute in that “I’m staying at grandmas house” but that is all the compliments I have for this place. It reeks of mold and mildew, the second you come in the front door. You have call the front desk for someone to check you in, which is done by paper? When we checked in the owner asked if we needed the AC right now. We replied yes as it was horribly humid. He said something about a hose being cracked but he could “fix it real quick”. Our room was so outdated, down to the bedspreads. The smell of mold was so insanely strong that it CONSTANTLY triggered asthma attacks all night. The only time I got relief was to open the back door or go outside in the front, which each time I was either met by the owner asking what I was doing/why I was coughing and congested so much all of a sudden or the “extended stay” customers offering drugs. When I asked the owner about our ac unit as it kept beeping with an error he “claimed he fixed it” but he actually just put it on fan and said it’s all better. Of the 6 hrs we were there I actually checked in (went to dinner, ran errands etc)only spent 1hr tops in that room. We ended up leaving because I honestly felt like I was going to DIE if I stayed any longer. And the owners response to all of this “eh, it’s fixed, I don’t know what you want from me”. I ended up sleeping in my car in a parking lot instead of staying there because I could not for the life of me risk my health for another...
Read moreUpdate: owner called personally and was upset over my experience and we talked for roughly 30mins and I was explained a few things as in with the toiletries if no one is at the front desk and if your room doesn't have any there is a number to call.. as of the musky smell its all the original wood from way back in the day and with the humidity and the lake being so close if the room isnt used it can have the smell for alill awhile. Now with the being ran down it is a construction that is on going and being worked on and the trash I have been told there is bears in the area so it does happen. Now I will say I did not expect or want to have any personal contact from the owner or management, I did not leave a review for any personal gain it was just my experience was not good at all.
The lady at the front desk that checked us in was by far the best part. Of my whole experience there and I do have to apologize to the owner for being brash on the phone when he first called me and I also have to thank him for taking the time to personally call me and have a good conversation with me.
I will be giving the place another shot and I am truly hoping it will be a better experience this next time around. Only thing I will stress to everyone the place is vintage and has the antique feeling looks and furniture so be expecting to step back into time when things we built well and life we simpler.
Should not be called a spa it has 3 rooms with inflatable hotubs that is it, Musky smell, no one at front desk, no toiletries, trash everywhere in front of the building, boarded up rooms and stairs just...
