| ⁃ The motel is in Lincoln, Maine, about 180 miles from Portland, Maine and 50 miles from Bangor, Maine. It’s 83 miles from the Houlton US/Canada Border crossing. It’s 6 miles away from the corresponding I-95 Highway exit.| ⁃ When I got there late in the evening/night, I called the number on the front door as instructed. The owner/manager, Jan promptly answered the phone and quickly came from home, about a 5 minute wait. She was very pleasant and the check-in was quick and seamless. I do understand the concept of contacting her on phone during off hours as it would be impossible for her to wait in the main office for sporadic checkins throughout the day and night.| ⁃ Jan was very helpful. Do not hesitate to ask her any questions or let her know your concerns if you have any. She was also very helpful in information about Lincoln and surrounding areas, places to eat, shop and so on. I did text her during my stay and she did text back immediately, for those more comfortable with texting.| ⁃ There was a key with keychain and room number to let you into your room.| ⁃ It is a small/mid sized motel with 20-30 rooms on 1 floor.| ⁃ The hotel room had a small fridge and small microwave. There was a coffee maker with cream and sugar provided.| ⁃ It had a full shower and toilet. The sink and bathroom vanity was on the inside of the toilet. They provided towels and guest size soap and shampoo.| ⁃ It had a small ‘flatscreen’ TV with basic regular channels and 2 remotes. Make sure you ask Jan, the owner/manager about how to use the TV remotes as I got confused initially but figured it out after a while. They do have an impressive selection of channels. | ⁃ The room floor was carpeted.| ⁃ I got a room with 1 ‘double’ bed. Slightly larger than a full bed but not as big as a queen bed. This was adequate for me as I was traveling alone. 2 adults can fit in one bed but it’s going to be a tight squeeze. If you are a large person, get a room with queen or king beds.| ⁃ There was a dresser with lamp and an armchair next to the bed on either side.| ⁃ The room had drawers underneath the tv cabinet for storing clothes. They also had a working desk/table where the coffee maker was placed. There was a mirror next to the cabinet.| ⁃ There was a metal clothing rod with hangers for clothes and jackets next to the bathroom. | ⁃ The parking lot was adequate and felt safe. I parked right outside my room. Jan the owner does keep a record of the license plates when signing you in. | ⁃ The heater/heat with thermostat worked well, especially considering the fact that it was in December in Maine where the temperatures were hovering at single digits or even below zero Fahrenheit. There was no heat loss at all and the room was warm and toasty. I didn’t use the AC (as it was during the cold season) but there is a wall unit next to the window. | ⁃ The window to the outside had curtains for privacy. | ⁃ They did have hotel wifi and it worked well. Jan provides you with the password once you get to the motel. Hotel WiFi was especially important to me as I have T-Mobile as my service provider and cell service was spotty up there in Maine.| ⁃ There are a couple of places to grab some food close to the motel. There is a pizza place called the Lincoln House of Pizza, walking distance, less than 5 minutes walk from the motel. I got their ‘special’ of one large pizza, a liter soda and breadsticks with sauce. Jan recommended the pizza from High Street market. There is a grocery store within walking distance called ‘steaks and stuff’ that you can buy basic groceries from. | ⁃ The room was cleaned well and towels changed when I got back for my second night stay.| ⁃ It was very quiet when I stayed there for 2 nights. (Friday and Saturday)| ⁃ I stayed there for the Millinocket marathon held on Saturday, December 8, 2018. It’s 34 miles from the motel to the start line and took me 45 minutes to get there on race day. There were quite a number of runners who were staying at the motel. If you are running this race, this would be a perfect launching pad as hotels in Millinocket fill up quickly.| ⁃ There is a drop-off mailbox for dropping off the keys in case you need an early...
Read moreThe Lincoln House Motel is in the middle of town, but it is virtually the last stopover before wilderness if heading toward the Houston border crossing into Canada. So, it takes a bit of driving off the I-95 to find, but it is very quiet. Not within easy walking distance to breakfast locations, but they are all about 5 minutes drive away. We were travelling with a new puppy and appreciated the pet-friendly virtues, including easy to clean wood floors. The bathroom was very small in unit #2. A larger person would not be comfortable using either the toilet or sink, which are very close to each other and both the smallest they must make! The twin double beds are more than adequate and comfortable. The room was very clean and we had a peaceful night's sleep. Jan made a special trip in at 7:30 am to check us out since we had a long drive in the rain coming up ahead of us. Much appreciated extra service on her part. If you are checking in late, make sure you have a phone. That is the only way to find out where you are staying since she does not live at the motel and the office was closed when we got there around 9 pm. I don't know how late they are staffed in the summer months, but this was the last week of September and the...
Read moreI wish I can give this a negative star or no stars. We rented the room for the night but before we even got into a room there was no one at the front desk. We were asked to call the owner from a sign on the door. She asked for a credit card info over the phone. We went into the room the air conditioner was so loud you couldn't hear others talked in the room. we went to look at the beds and there was bed bugs in the beds. The water in the shower was so hot my son almost got burnt. when confronted with the situation she told us we were not going to be charged and we left the same day never spent the night. We spent a total of approximately an hour and a half there. She told us should not be charging us but then did. Then proceeded to call my girlfriend approximately 5 times over and over. She left messages with just breathing on the phone. She never left any other messages are reasons why. We are currently trying to stop payment on a debit card. Also was told that was free Wi-Fi and there was none. The top of the beds felt like there was...
