Big Stone Bay Fishery Inc — Local services in Mackinaw Township

My friend and I were coming off the 5 pm ferry from Bois Blanc Island and wanting to stop in and get some white fish to take home. We were cutting it close to their closing time at 6 pm but we felt the drive out of the way would be worth it! Well Jim and Craig( or Greg) had closed up at 6 as we arrived at 6:02 but still there cleaning the place up…which was spotless! We asked if we could buy some fish and they said yes! What friendly, kind, hard working men! It made my day and later I made a white fish meal with the fresh filet! How delicious it was! I highly recommend stopping in and experience this fishery! Great experience with awesome people!...

This place is great! Not commercialized like most of Mac City. My family and I were on vacation and locals told us this was the place to go if we wanted to try some Smoked fish. Man they were not fibbin'! We got a little of everything. So far the smoked fish and trout spread, perch fillets (we fried), and Smoked salmon have all been amazing. The 2 gentlemen in store that helped us were very friendly (telling tall stories to my little one) and knowledgeable..My daughter is still going on and on about the Jackalope with feathers and how she is going to catch one! I was visiting Mackinaw from Arkansas, and I asked my dad who lives in Mackinaw who had the best smoked fish. He directed me to Big Stone Bay Fishery. I stopped in Saturday after 4th of July and bought a Party Whole Smoked Fish, a Huge Filet of Trout, and some of their Italian Fish Sausage. Everything thing was incredible. Hands down the Best Smoked Fish I have had. The Italian Fish Sausage was very Interesting. Even my wife who is a super Picky Eater enjoyed all the Fish. Prices were really good as well.
