I stayed at this location as it was the most reasonably priced location given the Wineglass Marathon Weekend in Corning, NY. Anything closer was either sold out or way too expensive. At any other Hilton location, I usually get two bottles of water and a snack for being a HHonors Gold member. I noted I was only offered one bottle and a snack upon check in. I wish the locations were all consistent.
While attempting to check in on the app, I saw there was only one room available for me to select on the 4th floor. I checked other floors and no rooms were available. This indicated that the hotel was sold out. Not entirely a problem until I got into the room and detected a smell of sewage fumes. I immediately checked the toilet to ensure it was flushed (it was). I lowered the temperature a bit thinking maybe the air just needed circulating and the scent would clear up. This did not work.
At 11:13p, I received a text message from Dianne at the Front Desk welcoming me and indicating I should text if I needed anything. I responded to her at 11:32p notifying her of the dirty glass doors of the shower along with the smell of sewage. I asked for Lysol spray. I did not get a response. I needed to be up and out the door the next morning before 6a. I decided to get some sleep.
The next morning, just before 6a, I stopped at the Front Desk and spoke to Thomas about the issues with the room. He confirmed the hotel was sold out and he was not able to change my room. I asked him for Lysol and he immediately retrieved a can from a locked room in the hallway. I ran back up to my room and sprayed it well then headed back down to return the Lysol to him before heading out to door.
I returned to the hotel later that day around noon to change and head back out. While using the shower, I saw what appeared to be mold around the shower. I happened to check my messages, and discovered Dianne texted again around 10:54a, again asking how my stay was going. At 12:40p, I responded with the same text I sent earlier. On my way out the door, I stopped by the Front Desk and spoke with Dianne. She offered many excuses as to why she did not acknowledge or respond to the issues noted in my texts. I asked her for the Lysol again, since she too confirmed there were no rooms available. She said she did not have any Lysol. I told her Thomas found a can in a locked room and pointed to the hallway. She made zero effort to look for the Lysol. I told her I'd purchase a can on my way back later that day.
I asked what could be done to make me whole in this situation. She said she didn't know what she could do and claimed she had reached out to her manager for advice. I pressed her to do better than that, at which point she offered to send Maintenance to my room. I told her I was on my way out and did not want anyone in my room while I was not there. I also pointed out that this issue should've been addressed before renting out the room to me. Surely the person cleaning the room smelled the stench. She offered to comp one night's stay and asked if that would be good. I told her it would not be if I was expected to stay in that room through the end of my reservation. She should comp the entire stay.
She eventually did, but it took way too much to get her to that point. I've been a Hilton Honors member since 2005! Rarely do I stay with any other brand. The Hilton promise was that customers are 100% satisfied or the stay is on Hilton. This issue could not be made right by Hilton. I've neither lived in filth nor have I stayed at any other filthy place/hotel, not even while deployed in the Army, so why was I expected to pay for a room that smelled of sewage?! Surely you can treat loyal customers and veterans better than this. Dianne was indifferent and apathetic. Not eager to attempt to rectify the situation. She never offered to come to the room and smell the stench herself.
Should I return to the area for the same race, I will not stay at...
Read moreDO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!! Where to begin? First off, they offer amenities that are very inviting like their pool/hot tub area. first off, the hot tub was not in working condition and there was no maintenance man in the area trying to fix it. Secondly, the front desk person was rude when the towels needed to be refilled saying that the guest in the hotel were using too many towels. third, the front desk staff stated that the guests at their hotel "made a mess" and they had to clean after we were in the breakfast area. The other guest had a spill of dry cereal that the GUEST OFFERED TO CLEAN AND DID SWEEP IT ALL UP, As the front desk staff watched. they also had the audacity to charge extra to some guests for "extensive cleaning" when speaking with the front desk staff he was stating" i had to fill the towels up more than one time " there was multiple families in this pool area, but only some were blamed for their lack of guest services. the man was confronted about these charges and he continued to make derogatory marks to the families who were calling to see why these charges were made. i would never ever stay at this place again. they have no idea who to treat guests properly, they do not know how to organize or handle any situation. there is a micotel below this hotel if anyone needs a hotel in this...
Read moreI had a room with 2 Queen beds and it was nice and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the thermostat was east to use and set at a comfortable temperature.
There was also a microwave and a refrigerator. The bathroom was also clean in the shower was wonderful.
I did not use the pool or the gym but the breakfast was a good breakfast. There were cold and hot options.
Eggs-cheese you can sprinkle on top, potatoes, waffles- you make them fresh, oatmeal-with options to add fruit and nuts, fresh fruit from slices like pineapple and strawberries (when I was there) to peel your own oranges, cereal, muffins, bagels and sweet bread, small yogurt cup and a variety of juices.
Overall, a great, something for everyone selection for breakfast. Oh, and sometimes for breakfast at hotels, you get those eggs that seem like they were frozen patties and then thawed, these were scrambled eggs and they tasted pretty good, and I'm particular about my eggs.
The hotel also has a section where you can get candy and other goods for your stay.
In terms of how hotels go, for the price, I felt I got a good deal and there was a lot to offer. If I had gotten their earlier I would have used the pool and the hot tub, but ended up...
