Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in Mansfield

This is the second time we've come here and have recieved our food before our beverages... Tonight specifically we waited 32 minutes before we were greeted by our server. We ordered everything as soon as we were approached. Our appetizer came out wrong, and was never remade correctly. She put it down on our table, i said this is supposed to have no jalapenos or tomatoes on it. She left it and said oh sorry be right back. My hubby was starving so he ate the messed up app by himself because he was tired of waiting for the correct appetizer to come out. I asked where the app was after our entrees came out and she said she would ask. She came back and said the correct appetizer never came because we ate what she gave us and the manager can only give a discount to the replacement appetizer if we still wanted it... they weren't going to remake the order for the whole table to try the app.

Meanwhile we finished the appetizer and still no drinks... The entrees come out 5 minutes after the appetizer, and then our drinks.

By this time we have been waiting over an hour and a half.

There was a big party in the back room, so we expected the food to be delayed... but not our beverages. I didnt expect poor management of the floor. I didnt expect poor customer service, i didnt expect incorrectly delivered food to be disregarded and fully paid for. We paid for our food and tipped appropriately. If the waitress corrected her errors and the manager tried to make things right for the customer she would have gotten our normal 25% tip... im a waitress myself. I understand the business.

So we watched many tables come in after us, get their drinks and food before we even got acknowledged by our server.

So when I paid the manager, he asked how everything was and I said not very good, things could have been a whole lot better. He just kept quiet and asked if I wanted my receipt. No thank you. No come again. Nothing.

As sad as it is, we will not be back to this location. The food is excellent when the servers can keep up with the kitchen. Even the hostess could have helped the server with getting drink orders... or giving us to another server who wasn't so overwhelmed... anything could have made us happy but what...

It's been years since I ate at any Perkins, I was disappointed with my takeout order 😔 I had the steak quesadilla my wife had the chicken strips, I did a online order for takeout from the nearby hotel, the receipt said ready by 8pm about 20 minutes from the time I placed it. I walked over at 8pm when I entered the place was very slow, I saw our order sitting on the counter behind the register , in plastic containers. Someone peeked out of the kitchen and didn't see me standing there. I waited a few more minutes and he looked again and noticed me. When I got back to our room the food was almost cold , the quesadillas were dry , my wife's food wasn't much better, her mashed potatoes were like paste, $28.00 for subpar food. Perkins never disappointed me before this. I've worked in food service from Burger King to Sun Valley ID. I understand how tough it can be but this establishment really had no excuse being as slow as it was. They didn't attempt to keep the food warm or put any care...

Amazing amazing service, On May 16th, 2025, we went there in group of 40 people, all of us Canadian Residents. As we were all ordering, since it was going to be a big big order, it took them about half an hour or so to just write down our orders. Before they even finished taking our orders, something happened with weather, maybe lightning strike nearby hydro wires or something due to which the electricity went out for restaurant. We on the other hand, had further plans and would not be able to wait too long for electricity to come back so that they can prepare our food. We waited for about half an hour though but electricity didn’t come back, so rather than saying anything the restaurant understood our genuine concern about us getting late and they gave us each a free cookie to go and didn’t charge a penny. Thanks to them for their genuine business. Thats exactly what AMERICA is about. 🇺🇸Great...
